Let's be realistic. If those fools called militants continue to bomb our crude oil installations, this policy will fail.

Didn't Emir Sanusi warn against all their roundtripping schemes at the CBN earlier? They put the EFCC on him to shut him up. And Soludo?

Meanwhile...

It would seem Buuharry tactically folded under pressure and capitulated to Osinbajo, leaving the poor Prof to do all the heavy lifting.

I'll only celebrate it when it goes back to #216 where Bubu met it. Bubu or Osinbajo can only make me celebrate their government if it falls below #216 in the parallel market.

In the mean time, here are other tips for Acting President to consider (Attn: Laolu Akande).

1. New mimimum wage should be implemented on or before May 1, in such a way that it reflects the prevailing economic condition in Nigeria.

2. The pump price of PMS should be reduced.

3. Nigerians need not be impressed with unrealistic campaign promises. The social welfare scheme (e.g. #5000 for 25million Nigerians & school feeding program etc) should be dropped for now and monies earmarked for this re-directed to points 1 & 2 above.

4. Release all political detainees (Kanu, El Zak Zaky etc) & hold town hall meetings with their followers.

Above all, well-meaning Nigerians should pray that the president remains seconded as Nigeria's High Commisioner to the UK & enjoys his medical leave till 2019, because Bubu has a spirit of affliction, killings, incarceration & poverty operating with him whenever he's in power.

Exactly

Naira is still a fundamentally weak currency, and the underlying confidence is still low. This is a temporary rebound, and it will settle back at N500 to $1 in about a month, mark my words!

Do ur calculations well, it's gonna be a win win solution bcoz if the naira keeps apreciating, prices of goods and services will return back to reasonable amount. Is not about how much ur dollar Wil exchange for but it's worth and value after exchanging it eg, ur dollar may exchange for 1000 naira and bag of cement or rice may be 20,000 (20usd ), also the dollar may exchange for 100 naira and u may get ur bag of cement or rice for 1500 (15 usd ).

It was even at $160 in 2014 but oil was selling at $110 per barrel. It crashed to $350 with oil at $30. Now it is $400+ with oil at $52. See the fall and rise correlation with oil?

Instead of focusing on end result dollar price, we should be talking about breaking this unholy economic linkage to oil. Even if it causes short term suffering, it will be worth it.

Dollar price should never be an indication of a sovereign country's economic condition.

We need independence. Independence from designer bags, shoes, shirts. From imported butter and sausage and from imported mentality! Without this second independence we are simply slaves to other countries.

Will Nigerians support this idea? Will they value freedom for their children over Jimmy Choo shoes and LVMH and Hermes bag?

We are Nigeria' s problem. Our corrupt, thieving politicians are accelerators. But we can do bad all by ourselves.

May your shame remain with you alone. Had it ever caught your mental attention (if you have any at all) that the naira had never appreciated by up to 40 Naira in one week in history before?

Market watchers said it was heading for 1000/$, and we all see their predictions of woe falling apart like castle of cards, and you feel it doesn't worth celebrating? It must be difficult being you.
