Hardtalk:

I just went through this post again and noticed that, if all these airlines still existed, a good number of youths in this country would have been painfully employed. What is really killing this airlines?.

Low Demand
High Cost Of Operations
Incompetent management

According to aviation authorities, another 7 to 9 new airlines are to join, the current ones, in a couple of months. Will they survive the current competition? Or will they go the way of the above later?

It baffles me on how Jimoh Ibrahim intends to run Nigerian Eagle, or whatever name they now call it (though we know it as Virgin Nigeria). Till date, he has not told us what happened to his former airline, Nicon Airways. Meanwhile, a few days ago, his company was shut down in Lagos due to tax evasion. How he will manage this current one, time will tell, else, it will join the catalogue that we have in this thread.

what happened to this international airport, The Foreign Airline are not demanding to go there?

meanwhile, the state govt is begging the FG to come and take the airport- Original Business sense O!!!

The Akwa Ibom State government is ready to hand over the management of Ibom International airport, Uyo, to the federal government, the state governor, Godswill Akpabio, has said.

The request of the state government is coming at a time the federal government has concessioned some parts of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos to private operators and plans are afoot to concession other federal airports across the country.

The Ibom International Airport, which was initially designed as a cargo airport, is currently being upgraded with the construction of its maintenance, repair and overhaul hanger.

Mr Akpabio, who expressed the wish of the state government at the weekend in Uyo, during a meeting with the minister of aviation, Stella Oduah Ogiemwonyi, said the state government was willing to relinquish ownership of the airport on condition that the federal government signs a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with it.

Mr Akpabio said the federal government would particularly benefit from the maintenance, repair, and overhaul hanger under construction.

International standard

Describing the state airport as one that met with international standards, the governor noted that his government was willing to partner with the federal government and stated that plans were on to add another runway to the existing one.

"Nigeria does not encourage progress. I would have thought the federal government would have even jumped and taken over the project. We have constructed an international runway. The federal government could have built a second runway. We could have used it an economic hub for the Gulf of Guinea and for rescue operation in times of emergency," Mr Akpabio said.

Already, the state government has trained some personnel to operate the airport in Australia, Canada, and the US.

Governor is running away from his own airport, why cant he privatise it instead of calling for FG

Fake news, originated by the same haters that derailed this thread by posting silly photographs of defunct airplanes.you guys are jealous that this airport is not in your states and hence your effort to discredit it.
your bad belle ain't going to stop the state govt efforts. the ibom airport is growing in leap and bounds.
The FG cant even run its 22 airports effectively, the last thing that will happen is the AKS govt to hand over its investment to the FG BTW how much money did the FG contribute to the building of the airport?

this is the progress so far made at the airport enjoy!!

Enjoyment1:
Meanwhile, airport projects are now being used as political tools to score cheap points. I learnt Anambra too wants to have their own airport. Ogun is warming up with an International Cargo Airport, Ekiti does not want to be left up. Lagos is preparing to start work on Lekki airport, and the question now is, how many of these airports are really necessary?
12 years after, Anambra finally have

This was actually when the aircraft had landed at Akwa-Ibom state airport. People were so excited, as it provided short cut, instead of going through Portharcourt or Calabar. You can see people snapping pictures. It was a rare privilege!
How time flies, 13 years after they have their own airline...

I hear Arik Air have suspended their regular flights to Uyo, due to non=payment of mutual agreement they had with Akwa-Ibom government to pick some bills if they airline cannot cover cost of flights to Uyo.
Time flies, fast forward to 2022, they have their own airline...
