Religion of Love indeed, where is this Christian love that we do not see ?

The so called loving hypocrites christians have only heaped abuse and curses on this guy who lost his sister, very similar to what Boko Haram would have done.

Those are not christians but mere church goers that won't read there bibles. They know nothing about Jesus Christ and are not regenerated.

Real believers follow the teachings and example of Jesus Christ.

Right... he makes a good point.

OK... The problem with most Christians is that they think that becoming a Christian and following God means no more problems, no more issues. everything is OK.

Well, the early Christians did not have that luxury .A good number of them died for believing in God..... despite all the promises of blessings.

But why does God allow bad things happen to good people?

Recently on BBC, the daughter of a missionaries told her parents story. Her father was a missionary and a good man who died in the course of the job....killed by the idol worshippers he was trying to reach (no offense to my pagan brothers and sisters). What did his wife do? His wife went and took his place.... ministering to the people who killed her husband along with another widow..... and many were converted.... Including the men who killed her husband.

Now... If the woman had given up on the faith, and said that Jesus is a failure for not protecting her husband, would the souls of her husband's killers be saved.

Jesus said that we are the light of the world. Sometimes that means shining when we don't feel like it, when all hope is lost, when we are personally hurt. But we have to shine..... because somewhere among the people who hurt us is a Saul who will bring light to more millions.

Let us talk about saul/paul. He persecuted Christians. He took part in the death of a good man called Stephen. But Saul was converted by Jesus on the road to Damascus. The job was completed by Ananias and Barnabas..... members of the same church that he was prosecuting. Now what if Ananias had said that Jesus failed...since he could not protect Stephen.? What if Barnabas had left the faith? Where would Paul be?

Jesus gave you a mission as Christians.... gave us a mission.... to be a little light in a dark world. It is not comfortable business being a light. You may have to forgive, have to love, have to forget hurts done to you. Because you have a mission as a Christian... to help reconcile an evil world to the Lord. Not to sit back and expect your blessing for doing God a favour by following him.

The problem with the ex Christian the OP quoted is that he was following God for favors. That is not the kind of follower God wants.

open church abeg. I go join . God bless you.

i am a man who is still trying to build upmy own faith, but even with nothing or little faith, this little things can not worried me by his grace. I was encourage by the 3 hebrew men, shadrach, messach and abendinigo, saying to the face of king never to bow down for the idol,'they said perhaps,if God will not save them, they will still not bow? What and encouraged of faith. We all have love one may be wife, sister, friends anybody at all, and there is always a particular time or day that we really felt they disapointed us,which may not be the truth. May be we did what we do for the best reason know to us, the fact that God didnt honoured some prayers does not mean he has disapoint us? Because even we that are disapointed own by Him, who said a young man up cant die followed his sister and that will still not change God. God in his all supremacy powerful, that is not in our doing to question him, sometimes when some prayers were not answered we should just checked our life if we have actually prayed the right prayers,or there is no sin in our life. Bible said, can we continue in sin and ask for more grace, and God is not deaf to hear us ,nor his hand is too short to deliver, it is sin that separete us from the love of God.

To add to this, every mortal life must taste death; be you a Christian or Non-Christian. God never promised man 'everlasting life in this sinful world'; rather, He promised true believers 'eternal life in heaven' to be with Him forever.

Clearly, the frustrated guy never really knew God or His word for him to blab rubbish. If the apostles of Jesus Christ could taste earthly death, why do non-believers expect otherwise? undecided

The truth is Jesus Christ said in this world we would pass through tribulation he said we should be of good cheer he has overcome the world....being a Christian does not mean we would not face trouble, pain , shame, rejection, disappointment .,,.we we always have to still put faith in God no matter what...we must not say bad things to God in times when things are tough for us....we should remember that Job suffered more than us but still he maintained his integrity,.,..,,I pray God will see this man through.

The same God also advocates people obeying constituted authorities. That church disobeyed building rules and regulations.

The same God also advocates that people should do their work well. Builders were busy cutting corners.

Now.... If God had intervened and saved people from dying, the people responsible for the disobedience that caused the disaster will continue because God has 'covered their backs'. Meaning...... they won't learn, and neither would anyone else observing them....... that disobedience is wrong.

And God will look like someone excusing wrongdoing, even if people were saved.

Not a perfect answer..... but at the same time, people suffer because people sin. That is why God is against sin so much in the first place.
So God cares more about sin than about human beings. If as a father you told your child not to cross the road and the child in his stubbornness decided to do so would you - despite that you have all the power to save your child - allow the child to be killed just so that your other kids can learn a lesson or two about constituted authority. What would you think of a human being who places rules and regulations above human lives to the extent that he prefers for human beings to die than to have his rules broken? In any case all you just said above is your opinion, it's just you trying to rationalise a situation you have no real answer to. You do not know for a fact that what you have written above is the reality.

Yes, God cares more about sin, because sin destroys. Sin wrecks. Sin messes people up. And if sin ain't stopped, people would be destroyed by it.

One cannot live in a world without rules.

I am not rationalizing anything. I am saying that if God intervened and saved lives that would have been lost due to human negligence, people won't change. They would develop a sense of entitlement, that they can sin all day, and God will clean up after them.

And that isn't what God wants. God wants mature humans who are the horror of sin, and are willing to change as a result.

And yes, if I was a dad, I would save my child from being hit. Then again, my child might read of tales of people who got hurt crossing the road carelessly and take warning.

Seems You want a babysitter God. You don't want to change. You don't accept the cold reality of sin and it's destructive element. You want a god who saves lives, without changing them.

Well, since you never did meet the man, I wonder how you could have such an opinion.

But.... some raw lesson.

One of my favorite movies of all time is Tarantino 's bill series. In the film, the Bride exacts her revenge on vernita green, in front of green's child, and tells the child that she is free to seek her revenge when she grows up.

Tarantino has said he will make a third film where that happens. And note that the Bride has a child.

Jesus may be a fake to you, but what about humans, who know what is right but still do wrong. Like those who did way they did to the sister of the guy who OP quoted.

Somehow, the revenge cycle has to stop.
