I feel like dishing out a hot slap on both the Nigerian foreign minister and whoever that issued such misleading and decietful press release from the US Embassy. Seems they are all living inside a tunnel in Nigeria and are out of touch with the realities on ground in the real world. A Banker friend of mine in Nigeria got detained at JFK immediately he arrived the state's 3 weeks ago and was held for 2 nights before repatriating him back to Nigeria. He came for a 2 weeks vacation only for his visa to be revoked right at the airport with zero reasons offered to him. He was simply told to go home and have his vacation there and the US High commission in Nigeria along with a so called foreign affairs minister in Nigeria are busy playing the ostrich. Below is a link of a resent experience by a Nigerian visiting the US and I'm sure the Nigerian foreign affairs minister is also oblivious of this development. http://www.topbuzz.com/article/i6392490825485386244?app_id=1106&c=wa 3 Likes |

austinosita: Except I apply for any other visa category...I will never ever in this life again gamble my money for a visitor's visa...NEVER. If you guys know how much the American embassy makes from Nigeria on an hourly basis from Mondays through Fridays on the visitor visa applicants alone. ..you will weep for this country... More worrisome is their mode of interview which is never based on your true intent but on how you have mastered the act of convincing the interviewing officers.....this makes me conclude that the application process for a U.S visitor visa is grossly flawed and a big scam. 3 Likes |

I don't really think that the US visa officers are playing scam with their US visas. The problem is Nigeria is one of those countries where some if not most have abused their visas by either misrepresentation or overstayed their visas once they get into the United States. Both the visas officers and well as the customs and border officers already know the numbers of visas abusers per country and that alone has affected the visas approval in those countries. 2 Likes |

byrron: JFK is a rough place for Nigerians. Always ready to check bag for food and sometimes if they catch a drug dealer, visitors/immigrants 'from Lagos on this line', then start checking bags. I think it is serious but they have to come out and tell us what is going on, how many were deported and work with the state department in U.S. |

anitank:I don't think the US is targeting Nigerians..... as I see it.... they are targeting Muslims period. If you are not a Muslim....you may as well be one since you work for a Middle East airline....Middle East and Muslim.... same thing....same result... denial. To other Nigerians...just like anyone else... visa is clearance to travel to the US.... it doesn't guarantee entry. At Port of entry they have your info and will question you... should your info not match then you are denied entry. Happens all the time...not to Nigerians only. On visa fees... yes they do make a killing. .. but can simply deny you visa... they don't have to wait until you get to the POE to deny you entry if their aim is to collect fees. 1 Like |

Anyone who has been following Donald's trumps travel ban will understand that the Muslim nations are just the beginning. It is going to become very difficult for immigrants and visitors to the US going forward. 2 Likes |

Work to make Nigeria great, you won't. You would rather be at the mercy of an 18 year old CBP Officer doing intern-ship at JFK Airport, questioning your integrity in front of your fellow travellers ntorrr. Visa is permission to knock, it is an 18 year old CBP officer that will determine, whether to let you in or not. Imagine your last born's age-mate questioning your motives, you want to slap him, but you will be immediately deported. Make Nigeria Great ehn. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Infact all PMB's aids should stop speaking in public. They are full of lies or let's say they want to make Nigerians know they exist by falling their hands publicly. We the senate will look into it and close their publicity. Thank you |

Originalsly: Thanks for atleast being reasonable and stating your opinion maturely without name calling. Hardly happens on here. Now I am not Muslim, and then QA flies to more than 10 airports in the US daily, twice daily to JFK and BOS. If it had to do with the airline, it may not be allowed into the states and many people would be turned back at POE, but that's not the case. Nigeria has always been in the international media for the wrong reasons including terrorism, drugs, cyber fraud, murdering their spouses in the US etc...and do you think Trump would want any more of us infiltrating his America? He doesn't have to say it out loud. And quite frankly I'm glad I was turned down from the embassy, rather than going all the way and be turned back at the POE. Would have been more devastating. 2 Likes |
