Former Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has said that despite the economic challenges the country faced during the last administration, they left some solid economic legacies for the Buhari led administration.
Debunking claims that the economy was in shambles before the new administration took off, as claimed by President Muhammadu Buhari she said, “such claims are untrue” and that the “current economic crisis rocking the country could partly be attributed to the unguarded utterances and unfounded allegations against the last administration by certain individuals whom for the sake of political gains, painted the economy black and by so doing, sent a negative message to the international community and investors” as she once warned.
She added that despite the challenges they faced in the last administration, they did their best and had everything under control but that the Buhari administration is now in charge and responsible for the direction of the economy.
It could be recalled that the ex-Finance minister once warned that the unfounded allegations on the economy against the Jonathan administration, could result to unintended consequences.
She said, “The allegations that the economy was in ruins are absolutely false,”

“we cannot take away the fact that the Jonathan administration, in spite of the challenges caused by 50 per cent decline in the price of oil, has made a clear and measurable difference in many important areas and anyone who says nothing has been done and nothing is being left behind is being very unfair to facts and to history.

Putting a bandage over a bleeding wound (which Jonathan & Co were doing) and stitching the wound to stop the bleeding ( which is what we are seeing now), are they the same thing?

If a farmer does not catch the thief in time, the thief will turn around to catch the farmer and label him the thief. The same woman that gave recovered Abacha's loot to Sambo Dasuki to share among the gang of thieves. Mama Piss has $15 million in her driver, gateman and maid's accounts. Andrew Yakubu kept $9.8 million in his old family house. Obanikoro got 4.7 billion naira to rig Ekiti Election. AVM Alex BAdeh hid $1 million in his wardrobe. AVM Olusola Amosu buried $1 million in a fake soak away. Jim Nwobodo got 100 million naira to rig election in the South-East. Bode George got 100 million naira to rig election in the South-West. Peter Odili got 100 million naira to rig election in the South-South. Diezaini does not know how much millions of dollars she has in her accounts all over the world. Tinubu, Fashola, Amaechi and other big thieves have even forgotten several millions in accounts all over the world. While this puff-puff cheeked world bank house girl was in charge of our treasury. The thunder that will fire this woman is the same one that sent DSP Alamieyeseigha to early grave.

smiley Abi o!

Excerpt from a Gentleman and a friend!

The anti-corruption war is not about Buhari. It is not about anyone 50 years and above. It is about you, 40 years and below. And you are in the majority right now in Nigeria. It is about your future and that of your kids. It is about your happiness, prospects, welfare, employment opportunities, pride and honour.

Do you know how old President Buhari is? If you don't, let me help you. PMB is 75 years. With God's blessing of long life, he gets another 25 years at most but you have many more years ahead of you.

Buhari, shouldn't be leading the war against corruption, you should. Buhari's generation, got the best out of Nigeria. They had free education, scholarships and guess what? Jobs and cars waiting for them on graduation. You left school five years ago, you still can't find a job. You thought more degrees would give you an advantage and so you struggled to do your post-graduate but still no jobs. You're the one who should be leading the war on corruption not Buhari who in the real sense, has no more stake beyond leaving a country better than he met it.

Now, instead of you to join PMB in his modest efforts to fight corruption no matter how imperfect it is, you're ignorantly joining up with the corrupt elements to attack the president. You're like the dog that is trapped but is threatening to bite anyone who tries to rescue her.
Buhari, does not need the stress of the anti-corruption war if not for his abiding personal principles. It is easier and more profitable to him and his family to loot the treasury and safeguard and secure the future of his immediate families and generations to come.

After all we have past leaders, accused of massive corruption going around in affluence and power without any questions or hints of prosecution.
President Buhari deserves praise not insults. When you're tempted to insult PMB next time, think about this: it is not about Buhari but you. Nigeria has been good to Buhari and his generation.
If you cannot say Nigeria has been good to you, join Buhari in his anti-corruption war.

Nigeria borrows to pay salaries with cash crunch worsening. A cash shortage caused by low oil prices has forced Nigeria to borrow heavily through the early part of 2015, with the government struggling to pay public workers, officials said Wednesday. “We have serious challenges. Things have been tough since the beginning of the year and they are likely to remain so till the end of the year,” said Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. *Finance Minister, Ngozi-Okonjo-Iweala*Finance Minister, Ngozi-Okonjo-Iweala Nigeria, Africa’s top economy and largest oil producer, has been hammered by the 50 percent fall in oil prices, with crude sales accounting for more than 70 percent of government revenue. “As it stands today, most states of the federation have not been able to pay salaries and even the federal government has not paid (April) salary and that is very worrisome,” said Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha.

Okonjo-Iweala said the federal government had a projected borrowing allowance for 2015 of 882 billion naira ($4.4 billion/4 billion euros). But 473 billion naira had already been used up to meet recurrent expenditures, including public worker salaries. “We have front-loaded the borrowing programme to manage the cash crunch in the economy,” the minister told reporters. While Okonjo-Iweala said the severity of Nigeria’s cash crunch requires daily management, the problem will almost certainly be off her desk in less than a month. President-elect Muhammadu Buhari will be sworn in on May 29 and is not expected to retain any of the key ministers appointed by outgoing president Goodluck Jonathan. *Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo State*Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo State Government critics have alleged that Nigeria’s revenue crisis was compounded by excessive and wasteful political spending through last month’s general elections. Leaders of Buhari’s party All Progressives Congress (APC) warned that the incoming administration will be confronted with serious economic headwinds after taking office. Okonjo-Iweala said Nigeria was still projected to grow at 4.8 percent this year and was therefore “doing much better than many other oil producing countries,” similarly hit by the collapse in crude prices. But, as Jonathan leaves office with the government coffers in tatters, observers will likely note his administration’s persistent failure to save for a rainy day. Nigeria typically sets its benchmark crude price between 75 and 80 dollars, and is supposed to deposit excess revenue in a savings account. But even when crude was selling above $100 last year, Jonathan’s administration struggled to build savings. Critics say the excess crude account has been repeatedly raided by powerful political actors.

I don't know why reasonable human being should be blaming the present Government for the woes of Nigeria.
I don't dabble into politics especially on Nairaland. Truth be told, we need to be sincere in all things we do and also know that, we will be accountable to all we have done here on Earth.
I think we need to be constructive in our arguments, Okonjo will and can never say this statement. I have read lots of papers that have quoted NOI that there was no financial discipline during GEJ regime orchestrated by the Governors and the presidency.

...I careless about your talk mr man...Oil prizes were sold at below 50dollars per barrel at some point in Obasanjo's admin, yet this kind of economic disaster did not befall us...My salary now is worth half of what it was in 2015..Meanwhile prizes of goods including food-stuffs has doubled and tripled in some cases...and i am even the 'lucky' ones with jobs were salaries are paid as at when due.

..The only people who support this government now are,apc politicians, those working for them in the Buhari Media Centre(BMC) office to dish out propaganda and false-hood or students and kids whose feeding and day-day needs are being catered for by their parents or Guardians..period.

What's the objective of this inscrutable epistle? The previous governments had their ills, infact Jona was voted out based on his ills and Buhari promised to take us there. He should have considered all these before vilifying the previous regime. He should either provide solutions or swallow the blames honourably
