PastorAIO:LOL. I knew the ad hominem couldn't be that far behind. As for your argument, who does the changing of our way of thinking and choices? And who or what determined our choices in our "unconscious"? In fact, what is our "unconscious"? 1 Like |

Ihedinobi3: I'll hand you over to experts. this study is the first to show unconscious predictive activity in a region associated with decision making—the prefrontal cortex—according to Haynes. The results support the notion that unconscious brain activity comes first and conscious experience follows as a result, says Patrick Haggard of University College London, who was not involved with the study. “We all think that we have a conscious free will,” he says. “However, this study shows that actions come from preconscious brain activity patterns and not from the person consciously thinking about what they are going to do.”https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/unconscious-decisions/ You forget where you were calling me a weirdo on the other thread. Continue feeling sorry for yourself, you hypocrite. Ad hominem ko, Ad hominem ni. |

Ihedinobi3: I don't need you to say anything. Say nothing until you read the OP perhaps. But only if you care to, personally I'm not bothered. There are millions of religious tracts published in the public domain. Many of those literature attack other religions and atheists etc. I repeat, nobody forced you to enter this thread. If you feel insulted by his pity just pass him by. I'm sure neither of you will miss each other. |
Re: I Really Pity Christians by PastorAIO: 7:56pm On Nov 28, 2018 |
Ihedinobi3: You are really trying to milk this fact that he told you that Christians stop him to preach to him. But of course you must lie. you now claim that he started this thread after he mentioned being stopped by christians. Actually he mentioned being accosted by christians in response to what you said and not as a reason for why he started this thread. And yes, there is a difference between one pity and the other. In one you could do nothing to alleviate the situation and in the other you can help to alleviate the condition. That is a big difference and central to the point I was making. I get prayed for and preached to all the time by all sorts, from muslims, to catholics, to penterascals etc etc etc. In fact most of the time I enjoy the conversations, as you can probably tell I love discussing religion. I am pretty close to omniscience, yes. |

Re: I Really Pity Christians by Ihedinobi3: 2:35pm On Nov 29, 2018 |
PastorAIO:Your link says that people physically do stuff after their brains have decided to do it. And that means that we don't have free will? Perhaps it is the part where it is claimed that these people were unaware that they had already made a decision that made such a big deal of this for our erudite writers and for yourself. Weird as all told. If I consciously track every single thing I think, say or do, I'm practically superhuman. That is why we have habits. Over the years, human beings form patterns of thought, speech and action and simply deploy them in increasingly complex manners without much thought. That is probably Anthropology 101. It is also why the Bible talks of something called hardness of heart. People who are aggressively disobedient to God have often hardened into that pattern and will not see reason in any persuasions in the opposite direction. And the Bible also tells believers about "[setting their faces] like flint" or "[continuing] in these things" or "[quitting themselves] like men". All of these things are about making a habit of obeying God so that we also harden ourselves into patterns of obedience. Why does it take some scientists so long to figure out the obvious? Then when they do, they totally misinterpret it too. And then acolytes like you begin to spread the nonsense everywhere. How on earth did it make sense to you that your brain makes decisions before you (?) become aware of them and thus that means that we don't make decisions? Who is the we here and what are our brains? Are we not the ones using our brains? How do our brains make decisions only for scientists to say that no decisions were made because we were not conscious of them? WHAT?! I promise you this completely astounds me. As for calling you a weirdo, I remember saying that you are weird. Perhaps the two are the same. But here you are justifying your ad hominem with my staying that you are weird. Do you want a list of all the insults that you were vomiting at me on that thread? And you think my saying you are weird is justification enough for you to bring the same bile to another thread? |
Re: I Really Pity Christians by Ihedinobi3: 2:43pm On Nov 29, 2018 |
PastorAIO:I don't expect you to see the truth much less agree with it. I have history with Frank317 which, with your being near-omniscient and all, it is weird that you are failing to account for. I was reminding him of a stance he holds. He always offers what you said here as a justification for his threads but when I ask him (and at least one other atheist) what his new thread (whichever one it may be) is about, there is always talk of being curious and willing to repent if he sees or hears this or that. It IS hypocrisy and that was what I was pointing out. If he admits that he does these threads to harass Christians as revenge for all the times that Christians harass him with their preaching and praying, then we're good. We won't have to deal with the lies about caring about Christians' bad choices, about a willingness to repent and obey God etc. We can know that every time he starts a thread, he just wants to take a swipe at Christians. But would he ever admit that? Truth, any kind of truth, is very unpalatable for your kind, PastorAIO. |
Re: I Really Pity Christians by Ihedinobi3: 2:51pm On Nov 29, 2018 |
PastorAIO: I have explained what I was doing in another post. Your difference is spurious. The same way that you might give alms or spend time comforting the bereaved is the same way that you might try to argue someone out of what you may perceive as being intellectually lost. You may not reverse the poverty or the bereavement but you also may not succeed at "finding" the intellectually lost. I don't know about you loving to discuss religion. In my experience with you, discussion was a barrage of insults and personal attacks from you. So, I can't really credit what you say here. Nor do I find it particularly relevant to the issue since Frank317 whose position you are defending was not as enthused about Christian "harassment" (my term, not his) as you claim to be. Congratulations on your achievement, PastorAIO. |

Ihedinobi3: Finally, all u are here talking is not what the op is all about |
Re: I Really Pity Christians by PastorAIO: 3:41pm On Nov 29, 2018 |
Ihedinobi3: What Truth? What do you have to do with the Truth? Have you any concern with the Truth? Do you intend to contribute any Truth here? The answer each time is No, No, No, and No. Furthermore you admit it and are proud of it and declare confidently that you are not here to discuss Truth. Ihedinobi3: So your modus operandi when you meet such a person that you consider to be an 'anti-christian' is not to discuss the Truth of any matter, but rather to obfuscate and reduce the discussion into a very unmerry-go-round of idiocy and nonsense. You are a peddler of nonsense and you are proud to declare such as your modus operandi. |

Re: I Really Pity Christians by Ihedinobi3: 10:05pm On Nov 29, 2018 |
PastorAIO:It's you I was talking about for the most part. Why on earth would you see it written anywhere that our brains make decisions before we are aware of them and therefore we do not make decisions at all and think that that is any kind of a legitimate argument to make? This is why there is a fallacy of appeal to authority. 1 Like |
Re: I Really Pity Christians by Ihedinobi3: 10:09pm On Nov 29, 2018 |
PastorAIO:I may find your words insulting? LOL. Why don't you apply those words I "may" find insulting to Frank317 and let's see what he thinks of them. As for them being facts about me, if you really thought they were, not only would you have quit talking to me on your thread but you wouldn't seek me out now just because "you love discussing religion". I mean, what do you want with a liar, a libelous cretin and what-all did you not call me? Biko, carry your truth and be going. Almost none of you antichristian folks (I can only think of one exception) that I have spoken to since I got back on this forum has managed to keep a civil tongue in his head. But somehow, it's us Christians who have a problem? 1 Like |

PastorAIO:Incidentally, I said the following too: "Just like every time someone asks a question seeking answers to spiritual issues, these people came to the Lord Jesus and, of course, He taught them. It would have been unkind of Him not to have. I have a similar practice here on Nairaland, I try to answer questions for those who want to learn the Truth. But I am doing my best equally to let those who have no questions and have made their own decisions carry on as they please without my interference." - https://www.nairaland.com/3806371/really-pity-christians/3#73386494 I am not surprised that you do your best to distort what I say. Re: I Really Pity Christians by Ihedinobi3: 10:34pm On Nov 29, 2018 |
PastorAIO:Good heavens! I do not understand why you say many of the things you say. How am I supposed to know or care anything about other people's experiences with you? Am I the Nairaland police? I was simply limiting my observation to my experience with you because I did not want to pretend to know something that I don't. If other people talk with you and don't experience your foul speech, that is news to me and only tangentially important. What matters to me is that I have no personal reason to credit what you say. Why do you want me to speculate about your experience with other people? 1 Like |

Sadly I still pity Christians... They are not only slave to their thoughts, but slave to their fake pastor.... And u would wonder why Busola will open her legs to a man of God to molest her even when she didn't like it... Yet people wonder why i pity Christians. 1 Like 1 Share |

frank317: It is so sad, the level of malaise. A few posts above one libellous cretin accused me of appealing to Authority as if it made his point superior. Yet you'll find none so trapped and enslaved to false authority as themselves. Once you accept and allow yourself to follow without questioning, to believe what you haven't witnessed, and a whole lot of other superstitions that is when you open the floodgates of inanity and demonic stupidly. 3 Likes 1 Share |
