Re: Microsoft Windows Vista Launched by kabiyesi(m): 1:11pm On Feb 16, 2007
I read a response from yahoo tech that microsoft actually owns 47% of Apple.If that is true,then there is absolutely no copying from microsoft.They are simply doing bizness.Throwing slangs and calling vista "ye ye" will not change a thing.They own the market,most of it,that is. So if you can't beat them,join them.The truth is,every industry has its problems.It's not like Mac and others are problem free.It's not also like they are not worth the money.With time,they will repair all or most of the bugs and vista will be great.Give it time, it always works. The bottom line is,there is freedom of choice.

sisisisi ~ Do not believe that. The Anti-monopoly commission in both US and EU will never allow that to happen. Monopoly means no competition.

In the mid-80's, Apple had sued Microsoft for infringing on its IP, intellectual properties, by copying Apple's OS, operating systems. Around that time, Apple founder, Steve Jobs had being forced out by the CEO, Sculley. Jobs went on to create another Computer company, NeXT. Apple was ran aground ~ be careful of an MBA running a company.

Amelio replaced Spindler. He discontinued the Copland operating system project, the next-generation operating system for the Macintosh and decided to buy Be Inc., makers of BeOS, but negotiations stalled when Be CEO Jean-Louis Gassée wanted $400 million but Apple was offering $125 million. Amelio later bought Steve Jobs' NeXT in February 1997 for $429 million. Amelio later admitted he overpaid for NeXT. NeXT's operating system became the basis for Mac OS X and that was how Steve Jobs was brought back in 1997.

Steve Jobs instigated the Board of Directors to fire the CEO, Amelio, for non-performance. Amelio was ousted in the board room coup and Steve Jobs was made an interim CEO. All the analysts had written Apple off. Jobs was able to convince the board of his plans to revitalize the struggling company ~ iMac, Mac OS X, Cube, iPod, Airport, iTune, iMovie, Final Cut, just to name a few. What of the recently announced iPhone? Oleku.

In 1997, Microsoft and Apple settled out of court for an undisclosed amount and they both cross licensed their IP, which allows Microsoft to freely copy the Mac OS code and vice-versa. In addition, Microsoft invested $150 million in non-voting shares in Apple, which was about 3% of Apple. By 2000, Microsoft had sold its Apple shares, and even made a profit out of it. How did 3% share become 47% of Apple? Misinformation.

If you have the cash and want piece of mind, buy an Apple. You can create a partition on Mac that will run Windows and all its applications natively. And switch between Apple, Windows, Linux and Unix in real time. The upcoming Mac OX v10.5 Leopard, will blow Vista a mile away. It should be available by Spring.

@kabiyesi

Nice article. you should however remind people who want to buy a Mac that they need to buy the new ones, the ones with the intel x86 chip architecture. Windows won't run on the old powerpc imacs or powerbooks

muyibaba:

muyibaba ~ Don't even bother. Stay put with the Win XP or Win 2000 you currently have. To run Vista, be prepared to buy a new computer.

For Vista, I'll recommend AMD (Opteron or X2) or Intel Core Duo with the following specification:
2GHz Processor Speed
1GB DDR2 RAM

Avoid Intel Celeron at all cost.

Iz it good enough for multitasking?
Re: Microsoft Windows Vista Launched by naijafan(m): 1:54pm On Feb 27, 2007
Core Duo is the brand name
Dual Core is the technology (The processor has two cores just like AMD X2)

Yes, it is good for multitasking (heck, why not?! two processor cores cant be so stupid to be doing the same thing grin )

@kabiyesi
A dual core system running at 1.6GHz is alright. dont scare them away from vista. Dual cores are barely over 2GHz, so saying 2GHz makes Vista seem for servers only wink u get?

@9ja4eva
You could also try out the Core 2 Duo, a completely rewired version of the Core Duo released sometimes around November last year. Has a larger L2 cache and works best with Vista.
Re: Microsoft Windows Vista Launched by Nobody: 6:21pm On Feb 27, 2007
unless all u use is d latest MS apps, STAY AWAY FROM VISTA.a lot of programs are not compatible with it.You will waste hours browsing forums on how to make your fav apps work.and thats 4 a brand new sys.
if u upgrade , a lot of your devices won't work.
Re: Microsoft Windows Vista Launched by Gamine(f): 7:24pm On Feb 27, 2007
i just saw one crazy effect from Vista

A friend of mine just bought a system wiv Vista-pre-installed.

tongue
OO pple face it, Vista aint worth it!
Re: Microsoft Windows Vista Launched by Nobody: 11:36am On Feb 28, 2007
u really do have beef 4 vista.that bubble screensaver was ripped off bubbloids.the bubbloids screensaver has been around way b4 vista. and d original bubbloids doesnt use that much ram.u need 2 take a chill pill. or do u have substantial holdings in apple?

Re: Microsoft Windows Vista Launched by texazzpete(m): 3:18pm On Feb 28, 2007
ARRR people don't upgrade to Windows 95!!! A lot of your Windows 3.1 apps won't work!

YAAHHHH! People don't upgrade to Windows Xp!!! Some of our Beloved win 98 apps don't work!! very important stuff like Connectix VGS!!! All the important productivity apps works but WHO CARES when most of our beloved DOS games can't run!! The Default screensaver isn't that cute so it must SUCK! WinXP Sucks!!

Seriously, that's exactly how/what y'all are going on about application compatibility. Don't even get me started on the person that judges an OS by some bubbles. That goes to prove what we've known about users of MacOSx; It's all about the fancy graphics and nothing else grin
Re: Microsoft Windows Vista Launched by Nobody: 4:27pm On Feb 28, 2007
no no no. you've got it twisted.am not saying don't upgrade, am saying wait for SP1 or SP2 .whats the hurry in upgrading? also, u r forgetting IF YOUR SYSTEM IS USED FOR WORK you will lose A LOT of productivity chasing down solutions to application issues. plus, whats the point in buying a brand new OS if u have to throw out all of your trusted apps? of course that might not matter if (grin) u didn't actually buy them,
