Why are they even having the Oscars this year?

They should just bubble wrap all the awards, label them AVATAR and send them to James Cameron.

Any leftovers can be distributed between the rest of them.

angry Stop ruining my comedy moment JK grin

If IB wins best picture I will be shocked, District 9 I can certainly understand and even root for. Best picture is overall - story, effects etc. While Avatar may have lacked in originality of story, it more than makes up for it in the delivery of the story and everything else. It will win Best Picture.

The strong contenders in the Best Picture category are: "Avatar", "Inglourious Basterds", "District 9" and "The Hurt Locker". I have this feeling "Avatar" will win this category.
"Up" will win Best animated feature film. "Avatar" will also win the Best Visual Effects category even though "District 9" is another strong contender.

@~Sauron~
I know how you feel. Its the most critically acclaimed movie of 2009. "The Hurt Locker" has received a lot of positive reviews from critics. But trust the moviegoers themselves, they have different opinions on the movie. Well, to me, "The Hurt Locker" was an OK movie about that bomb disposal guru.

What is so spectacular about the movie?
A bomb disposal psycho defusing bombs all over Iraq and then what?
No plot, the conversation was ZERO, the camera angles weren't right and to think the movie was nominated goes to show how Hollywood has sunken to a new low.

The Motion Picture Academy don't nominate individuals based on motion capture performance or Voice acting in categories like Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor and Actress. The academy was considering nominating Zoe Saldana for her role as Neytiri in "Avatar" but was later dropped after a heavy debate over the matter.

i think Monique mite win best supporting actress( she picked up a golden globe even though that's not a criteria), and i'm voting for Meryl streep for best actress ( heard Sandra was pretty good in that movie too) and George Clooney for best Actor lovey acting in Up in the Air. ill give best supporting to Christoph Waltz. and i have a feeling avatar mite one or two awards for itself.
