I can bet you most(90%)of the people commenting here have never been to Ekiti. Some have never even travelled outside the SE before. Why wasn't a primary conducted?. Fayose again handpicked a candidate just like he handpicked every single political office holder in Ekiti from councillor to state assembly house members. He is even the current speaker. Haven't they wondered why they are hearing the name of a whole Professor and deputy governor to such a noisy Governor for the 1st time after 3 years in office? Majority of Ekiti are tired of this dictatorship and one man show and just keeping quiet to protect their lives and patently waiting till few months time when they will send these rubberducks and their owner packing. Never again.

Before and of course after this episode, the deputy chose to be forever silent and hold his peace. That's one of the reasons you don't know him like you know Lérè Oláyínká.

While he may have gotten few things in governance correctly, Ekiti people are tired of Fáyòsé's unreasonable excesses and shenanigans. Fáyòsé would not condone dissenting views of any kind no matter how superiorly reasonable such view is. People have therefore decided to save their skin and play safe by indulging him, meanwhile the general consensus among majority of Ekiti indigenes have been decided upon - make their statement at the pills and thereafter treat his fücks-off after he is out of power. This is one reason they may not massively vote for his apparent stooge in prof. Kólápò, even though the latter may have turned out to be a man of himself and fight for his own independence as the state governor.

Permutations these all are. All sides make theirs and hope like hell theirs work out and in their favour. However time is a revealer of all eventualities. Let's wait.

It is not every time we see an attempt for a deputy to succeed a governor in Nigeria.
Many maligned Fayose on the ground that he is 'uncultured, crude and barely educated'.
Same people are hitting at this candidate because he 'will be a puppet'. So its no longer about finesse and education which obviously is not lacking in Prof!

If Ekiti people are allowed decide for themselves, in a free and fair election, Fayose and his group will hold sway for the next years!

Fáyòsé may have stockpiled enough cash to back up and fund any political manoeuvres you may bring his way. So I believe money to spend for politics is not his headache for now. In serious injustice to the Ekiti people, he has not been entirely honest with the citizens on the utilizations of FG monthly allocations, IGRs, Budgetry assists, previous bailouts and the most recent paris club refund. This has chronically led to his owing salary arrears of up to 9 months.

Now you may say he is not alone in owing salaries, but that is what they want you to think in other to justify their looting behind the curtain. Aside from the IGR which Fáyòsé have never allowed the people to know much about, cash inflow and revenues into Ekiti coffers is public knowledge and it's therefore easy to compare revenue with expenditure. This has led people to believe that the governor an indeed pay salaries without problems. But the account book has somehow remain unbalanced.

The good thing however is that "sharing of money and other incentives" to buy votes work in only few places these days due to increased awareness amongst the electorates. So people will readily take whatever monies he spends, but still follow their own determined voting pattern.

What was Chris Uba & some other Ibo business men doing in Ekiti during the election while orders were given to arrest APC governors & some leaders coming to the state. After the news of the midnight arrest, the election was purely a PDP affair as the state had been under duress & unannounced state of emergency. What freed the state is Fayose winning the election.

How come nairaland server got crashed during the tension buildup of that election. You might say it is a coincident, will a major online portal just go offline at a critical point?

So the popularity is what made the rigging possible. Was that an election? Even in Osun State where Aregbesola won narrowly because of rascality & the support of late Senator Adeleke & Oyinlola , that is not an election. A governorship candidate using mask man as security orderly & mask men used to kidnap opponent hours to election .
If the Osun State election had taken place ahead of Ekiti election, Omisore could have won easily & Fayemi would have still lost Ekiti because he is a well polished, refined & gentleman. The people of Osun laid down their lives against GEJ.
So it is popularity that made Bola Ige to be defeated by Olunloyo & Ajasin to be defeated by Omoboriowo. ? A payback should be given to him. Well APC should try the same method. I can see treason & felony crime in the coming election
