lovat:And what have you just done again? You quoted my post a 3rd time in order to respond back to me. You have serious problems, honestly! Anyway, thanks for letting us all know that you suffer from Alzheimer's disease. That is why you found it so easy to ascribe it to someone else.

VomeSchakleton: The Touareg way (Tamasheq way) for saying Turban is "Tagelmust" and often they wear Indigo dyed Turbans, which the HAUSA created. So going back to hundreds if not thousands of years ago, it's hard to say where the Turbans originated for Sahelians. Fulanis have worn them for Millennia, Hausa have worn them for millennia, and Touareg have worn them for millennia. It is fact however that most of the Turbans or Tagelmust that the Kel-Tamasheq wear are indeed made by Hausa people. 1 Like |

GarbaAudu: I don't think it originated from Touaregs and Arabs, however, we can agree that there is NOTHING whatsoever like Fulani or Hausa style of wearing a Turban. When I wear a Turban, I do not make the top ends pointy. 1 Like |

Fulaman198: Yes, the infamous and seemingly immortal kano dye pits. i believe hausas call it "Alasho". My best bet would be the touaregs or the fulbe (you may not agree but you have significant berber mixture, more so than arab like most believe), this is due to these ethnic groups proximity to the middle east where i believe inspiration for this and other sahelian outfits came from. Of course our outfits vastly differ from theirs today. Reminiscent of the persians, indians and arabs laying claim to ownership of the turban. |

NafeesaAA: OP, you must be the president of Association of DUMB people. Their is nothing like Fulani or Hausa turban. Turban is worn by Muslims all over the world. You are just a typical f00lish husa/Fulani woman that thinks Islam is only for Hausa/Fulani tribe. Travel out of your little hamlet and see millions of devoted Muslims with turbans. |
Re: Difference Between Hausa And Fulani Turban (Photos) by Fulaman198(m): 1:59pm On Sep 28, 2017 |
VomeSchakleton: That's not necessarily true either as the Fulbe (Fulani) are a very diverse group of people. Often mixing is seen as woda, or taboo. Being amongst your own in most Fulani cultures is seen as woodi or good. So the thing is, most settled Fulani may have some admixture, however Nomadic Fulbe like the Wodaabe (a subgroup of the Mbororo'en) have little to no admixture due to the fact of how mixing is seen. In regards to Touaregs themselves, they are a sub group of Berbers and true Berbers at that since they live in the desert, not like the so-called Berbers living on the Mediterranean coast. Btw, aren't you Hausa? I recall you telling me that you are. Most Fulani have little to no admixture contrary to what most people think. West Africa is not a monolithic region. |

VomeSchakleton: In regards to Persians, I do not think they wear Turbans. Amongst Indians, it's mainly the Sikh or Punjabi that mainly wear Turbans, and their Turban wearing style is different. Though I have seen Fulani in Sudan wear Turbans in a similar manner. Arabs on the other hand, also wear Turbans in a different way. The truth is, no one knows where Turbans originate from. Westerners can continue to speculate, but they will be wrong in doing so. |

Fulaman198: Yes, you are indeed very diverse even phenotypically, case and point theres this british gambian musician called j hus, opposite of the stereotypical fulani look but i think he is, many like him too in that region so theres no denying your diversity. I know that about the touaregs thats why i grouped you with them. I am indeed hausa, yes. Did i give you the impression that i wasnt at some point? Actually i recall seeing the dna result of a fulani man from taraba, he had 16% north african (probably berber or touareg), 3% middle eastern and 1% percent european (italian/sicilian) admixture and i'm sure this admixture will be heavier for "purer" fulanis like you. You definitely should give the whole dna ancestry thing a try. |

VomeSchakleton: Call me stubborn, however, I believe that whilst It is possible for Fulani to have "admixture" it does not necessarily mean we are mixed. Human genetics are very difficult to understand. Why? point being is that with how genetically diverse different groups of people are worldwide, we can not automatically assume that particular markers come from somewhere. North African is a very "broad" term. North Africa of today for instance was not North Africa 5000 to 10000 years ago. The DNA markers found there today, will be different from what we may have found 10,000 years ago. I will find time one of these days to take a DNA test, though it is not on top of my list. I'm a Nigerian man, a Fulani man and an African. 2 Likes |

Fulaman198: Thats interesting what you say about persians because most tend to lean towards them in the turban debate. And persians (iranians) definitely wear turbans. In the end i don't even know why people argue or fight so passionately about these things. Another debate is the aladdin debate between indians and arabs, Lol! People can be so sensitive sometimes. 1 Like |

VomeSchakleton: Most Iranians (Persian) as Iran is a nation comprised of various ethnicities just like Nigeria are quite Westernised and wear Western clothing. Some of them like the Ayatollah may wear a Turban, or some of the Imam, however the majority of Iranians if you look at their day to day lives love the West and wish to be like the West. The Persians in Afghanistan (Dari) may only wear what you call "hula" in Hausa. In regards to Aladdin, I know a lot of Persians that claim him as well 1 Like |

Re: Difference Between Hausa And Fulani Turban (Photos) by Nobody: 2:22pm On Sep 28, 2017 |
Fulaman198: Being mixed doesn't take away anything fron your identity, the spanish cant deny moorish/arab admixture and yet they're still what they are, spanish. Some markers are unique, for instance the e1b1b i think its called for somalis which is unique to them and other horners. Given the location and nomadic nature of fulanis its very plausible, likely even that theres admixture between them and these groups. But i like what you said in the end, you cant claim anything but what you are. In fact these people will hate or reject you regardless. Like the sudanese arabs in saudi that are fooling themselves while their hosts look down on them. Shame. |

VomeSchakleton: Exactly! I have no problem with admixtures, it's just that it would definitely have to go back centuries if not millennia ago. If there is an admixture of Amazighen within the Fulbe in Nigeria and Niger (I am not sure about the other countries) it would have to possibly come from the Kel-Tamasheq (Touaregs) or in the case of Senegal and Mauritania, the Saharawi due to our close proximity to them. 1 Like |

ELKHALIFAISIS: Arabs dress in a far different manner. How one dresses is not didactic of how modernised a group of people are. To perceive that Western clothing in any way is superior to Sahelian clothing shows a sign of massive inferiority complex. 4 Likes |

Fulaman198: Yeah, like turkey iran seems very westernized for a muslim nation. However the iranian traditional outfit even if they have abandoned it consists of a turban or like you said a cap. There are also persians in pakistan known as pashtuns. As for aladdin, i think africans should claim him too 1 Like |
