The FBI has a air force larger than some african countries,
shall we have details of the FBI fleet to back up this claim.

The 2009 link talks about FBI aviation programme but does not mention the fleet size or number. Kindly show/tell us where you got your "around 80 aircraft" figure from?

First pargraph

Federal Bureau of Investigation is home to what most would consider to be a sizeable aviation unit.  While specific numbers are not public information, past news reports put the number of total aircraft somewhere around 80.

In your own.opinion what do you think your govt and the citizens should do to bring peace to Nigeria

The citizens should start by using their heads/ brains when practising their various religions. Religion is a ticking time bomb in africa, and in nigeria, it has already exploded. The blind fellowship of religion is as endemic as cancer, with dire consequences for the nation, as we have seen and would continue to see in nigeria.

2) Idleness begets terrorism. As we say in nigeria, "an idle mind is the devil's workshop". However, There are deep root causes/ social causes which brought forth this terrorism problem. It is left for government at all levels, not just the federal government to stem this tide of degradation. The disparity between the south and the north is too wide. In education 98% of women have at least a secondary school or high school certificate in the south while only 9% of women are educated in the north. In commerce, it is virtually the same thing, the states in the south experience growth rate in infrastructure and commerce which are similar to that of brazil, while the north-east is heading the way of pakistan.

*** kano and kaduna in the north are still major economic heavy weights, with growth rates better than many african cities, but the problems in the north east of nigeria is restricting the growth rate in these cities to match up with there peers in the south.

****** the boko-haram problem is not a north problem per say. The only states that suffer boko-haram attacks are borno, yobe and adamawa in the north-east of nigeria. They(boko_haram) were decimated by the population in kano. However as an investor, you would not want to invest in kano, when you have marauding jihadist in borno and yobe.

So, there are deep rooted social problems the government at all levels has to tackle. Credit must be given to the president, he has been at the fore-front tackling these issues, and We are beginning to see results. However there is no magic wand to make these problems disappear.

That been said tackling social issues would only work for moderates. Those boko-haram members who joined because of poverty and other social issues.

3)Hard-line terrorists like shekau and co only understand the big stick. Those who want to die for allah's cause. Crack commandos is the only language they can relate to. So the FGN has to continue to fund and equip her law enforcement agencies to better carry out their duties. Like I have typed in previous posts. funding a security service to hunt an invisible enemy , a ghost is not cheap. It requires a lot of resources. Even with more than 200,000 coalition troops in afghanistan made up mainly of americans and british soldiers and special forces, bombings in afghanistan are an almost daily occurrence.

We do not have 1/10 the resources the brits, germans or french have. The americans are way way out of our league, however we have been able to severely dismantle and cripple boko-haram. They do not operate in the cities any longer. Most of their attacks have all come from the desert region near the boarders with chad, cameroun and niger. We have made serious progress, more progress than americans have, in their numerous wars on terror. If we had the resources the americans or Israelis have, terrorism in west-africa would been non-existent.

There are more things I'd like to add, however because of time or forgetfulness, I can't put them in this post.

That been said, nigerians are hospitable people in general, but the northerners are on another level, very sincere, welcoming and hardworking. Heck, the richest black person in the universe is a northerner.

***One other thing is, the north is predominantly muslim, not all muslim. There are millions of northern Christians. The north like the rest of nigeria is very diverse, many ethnic groups, including a large Lebanese and indian population. Boko-haram is also a mainly kanuri problem. It's not like the whole north of nigeria is on fire or backward. Many areas in the north are far more peaceful and quiet than the south.

Grintek makes its mark for developing a LEDS 150 (Land Electronic Defence System) a self-defence system for armoured vehicles which will help to detect incoming missiles and grenades and automatically fire a small interceptor missile which will destroy the incoming weapon( grenade or missile). Now they seek partnership, I wish Denel can partner them.

i agree with you.

@andrewza and @fighter pilot, the two south african military men on this forum are very lucky, i have always thought of them as now far better informed about real war tactics (especially the use of heavy equipments) than many officers senior to them. the two guys can get promotion and honours if they spill out what they have learned from almost 800 pages on this forum in the ears of their military bosses in south africa cheesy

The zumwalt class destroyer costs 7billion USD. One ship worth more than any African defense budget.
The fact is the US waist money take the Stryker ICV a base model costs 6million USD where a ratel built right now costs 750.000 and a ikwlela costs around 1milion(load out depending)

Base line stryker ICV, 7.62mm armor protection, 12.7mm gun and a tier endurance of 500miles ratel 12.7m protection, 20mm gun and 600mile+ fuel endurance.

So just because America spends lots of money does not mean they spend it well

...same with south africa....chinese modern stealth warship well equipped with longer range missiles for $250 million will do a better missile combat than the german valour frigate of $400 million cheesy

The US had a lot of warning about a attack.

SA is not seen has a target by any extremist Islamic groups and we do not have any groups of that nature in SA other than pagad who had a extremist element that was delt with.

Kenya on the other hand is very active in Somalia.

SA has no threat for extremist groups.
