JanegirlN: I agree with my madam @lagosismyhome, spending so much on a Nursing degree may not give the financial satisfaction you seek. I understand the frustration that can come with searching for a job, but I believe you can still get something with your degree without having to study a new degree all over. To get a good job takes time and for some lucky ones they bag it in 1 to 2months while it can take 6 to 9months for others, so basically you are still within a good timeline. For Geology jobs as well, if you are based in Scotland e.g Aberdeen it's a good location since that's where the oil and gas sector really works out from, I may be wrong though. All the best. |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Lexusgs430: 10:04pm On Feb 28, 2020 |
JanegirlN: If you want to study Nursing, go ahead and study, before it seems too late...... Don't expect mega salary 1/2 years post qualification, but after that point..... You would be very thankful you did....... NB : Best to wait for foreign student classification to change though..... Unless you're minting £££££££..... 6 Likes |

Hello house, I'm considering applying for a UK visa. I wanted to apply for tier 2 but I'm confused as to how to go about it. I have more than 10years work experience as an accountant and auditor.. How do I start applying from Nigeria, which websites do I go to or any agency Thanks |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by dustydee: 11:51am On Feb 29, 2020 |
missnigeria:You need a job offer and your employer will then sponsor you for the Tier 2 (General) visa. So if you can find a job and they are willing to sponsor, then you are in business. Agents are very unlikely to be able to help with tier 2 because of the employment part. |

Hello house, I'm new here. Please is Portsmouth a good area to live in terms of job opportunities and affordable cost of living? |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Aphrodite007(f): 7:00pm On Mar 01, 2020 |
Lexusgs430: This is true. I understand Lagosismyhome’s point of you don’t need to study, because you don’t have to. And yes, it truly is a Nigerian mentality to study. But not studying limits you. You may be an excellent dev but you won’t be allowed into management in a big company. You will earn, but not earn as much as you should. I would say to the person should start working first, get money, then if they want more money, they can go back to school. 3 Likes |

Good morning everyone, please I want to know the current fee for IHS for dependants 11 and 8 years. I am starting work soon as a nurse in UK but I'm confused on the fee for dependants on the shortage occupation list for 3 years. Thank you. @ justwise,@fatima,@lexus |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by LagosismyHome(f): 10:36am On Mar 03, 2020 |
Govpal: You can easily calculate it here .... should be about £1,200 per dependent https://www.immigration-health-surcharge.service.gov.uk/checker/type |

A friend of mine applied for visa but got rejected due to the following reasons 1. There are reasonable doubts about your intention to leave the territory of the Member States before the expiry of the visa. 2. The purpose and circumstances of the intended stay have been insufficiently demonstrated Should he Appeal or How would he solve this issue on his next application?? |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Aphrodite007(f): 10:09pm On Mar 03, 2020 |
Bhorbymills1990: If your friend is working, has been doing so for at least 9 months, earning 100k monthly, got a car/a house, has travelled to other places, working for a reputable firm, has payslips to show his income and tax deductions, is married/has a child, or is in school, he can appeal. Otherwise, don’t even bother applying. 2 Likes |

Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Lexusgs430: 5:08am On Mar 04, 2020 |
Bhorbymills1990: This is just a standard rejection template........ Does your friend have enough ties, to his home country? Did he clearly identify and document this ties?.... Appeal or new application, this ties issues, must be evidenced and documented......... NB : What they are clearly saying is, we are not satisfied you would depart on or before expiration of visa........... |

good day everyone please i need clarifications as regards my case I would be applying for tier 4 visa along side my infant (less than 4months old) very soon There has however been series of debate about one parent applying with child Please advice me, Must i apply with my spouse alongside the child? or I can apply alone with the baby with consent letter in place? Secondly, must my marriage certificate (for proof of marriage) be from Ikoyi? Someone said it has to be from Ikoyi registry and i didnt go there for my registry please help |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by LagosismyHome(f): 12:33pm On Mar 04, 2020 |
whuzmhan: Your marriage can be anywhere as long as it is a valid certificate... no embassy can dictate to citizens of another country where to marry Regarding the rules for their 4 Visa. No child can apply without the two parents applying or else the child will be rejected. There are some special circumstances but anything special is always hard to prove so the easier route will be for a child to apply when the two parents are ready 1 Like |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by whuzmhan: 12:37pm On Mar 04, 2020 |
LagosismyHome: Thank you I told her the same thing too but she argued that its ONLY Ikoyi certificates that can be confirmed as they register all marriages online. I was then wondering if the embassy actually confirms certificates, that if they do, a lot of those who didnt go to ikoyi would have been denied simply because thy wouldnt have been able to confirm their certificate. |
