Hello house

Please I have a challenge, I don't know how to rectify it. Kindly suggest any way out.

I studied in the UK in 2017 to 2019, last weekend I was playing with a Credit score web page, to my surprise I had a score of 600 undecided I definitely did not owe anyone or applied for any credit card in my mind o.

I proceeded to check my profile and saw a debt of £750 to Yorkshire water and my name was listed as house owner.

I paid all my rent to the landlord and of course I am not a house owner and I was not required to pay water bills when I rented the apartment. I used a prepaid meter for both electricity and heating.

I had a flatmate then and this did not happen to the person's profile.

How can I solve this?

University can only offer discount to a student who was promised inclass lectures then it turns out the opposite direction otherwise no they should not.
Do you know that many Nigerians have paid thousands in tuition fee deposit and still studying online from Nigeria while waiting for visa?
I mean.. how silly? The idea of travelling abroad for studies in this pandemic and economic free fall is a really bad one.

Tell them not to and you will be called enemy of progress
This is sad though plus the high cost of Data in Nigeria.Oh well the world is cahnging and we al have to adapt to it.This would be a very bad time for anyone coming to the west, but come to think of it, people truely believe this virus is a joke if not tell me why you would want to go to a WAR region

1st off verify the debt is truely in your name,I have had countless letters even calls and Emails stating I owe this and that, trust me it was all fraud. Now to clear your mind first instance, what is the name of the debt recovery company? Google them if they exist and if they do, then go to the website of Yorkshire water and get thier official number call them if indeed the bill belongs to you.

Yes I used experian. I couldn't find any debt recovery company name on it. I think the best option is to call them.

I agree that why I only mentioned those who resumed in January..... those who resumed this Sept, I personally wouldn't but I guess people are tired of naija so anywhere else is better than naija. Even if the future might be bleak, its already bleak in naija

Kindly explain why you are not meant to pay water bills?

Who used to water?....

Did your tenancy agreement, stipulate exclusion from paying water bills?....

Electricity and Gas, was not in contention, you used it, you paid for it...........

Was your flatmates name on the tenancy agreement?...

Except If it was stated as part of your rent.... usually the tenant pays for water as well . Although in this case the bill should have been in both names

The UK will be harder by the time you spent 20-30K in a year and end up jobless.. 9ja is not hard if you or your parents can afford to spend that much a year on foreign education.

Maybe, not 100% sure. I can try to get the contact number of the agent. The agent and the landlord are both Nigerians.

That is the only way to solve this. Get them to state that your tenancy agreement includes water bill then contact yourkshire water to present your case .

You need to also contact Yorkshire water to know the period of this bill so as to know if someone that moved in after accumulated that bill

You have lots of letters write, if this is the case.......

One to landlord/estate agent
Two to energy company
Three to credit score agency, explaining your position and erasure of entry

https://www.experian.com/disputes/main.html

Was that the only house you rented, with that water supplier?.......

I dont get why universities are not offering discount.... not fair especially those who started in January. This model is not what they signed up for especially those with practically element to their course

Job after graduation is another tricky thing.... all this lockdown means more jobs are at risky. Those with UK experience no job, then what hope Is there for those without UK experience

My heart really breaks for them.

When you try to tell them they are ready to curse you out on the student thread .... so well experience will be the best teacher.

UK can be ok to relocate but not a time like this with so much uncertainty. They might end up graduating and no job which leads to frustration

You’ve written a lot, but I don’t even understand where to place you (like, are you a Dev, Security specialist, Infrastructure specialist, Database Architect, Project Manager, Systems Analsyst, IT Manager or all?)

When you figure out what you actually are, your job search will be easy. Then all you have to do is to check for a job that fits you on indeed.com
