Nigeria should learn to think strategically. Morocco can displace Nigeria as the most important member of Ecowas, or at least it can rival Nigeria within the block in terms of influence. For that reason alone, Nigeria ought to make every open and surreptitious effort to deny membership to Morocco.

Besides I really hope that Morocco and its Mediterranean neighbor Spain will not attempt to have some sort of privileged membership of Ecowas whereby one will still require a visa to go to Morocco.

Thank God some Nigerians are still smart like this poster

Why will Morocco join the ECOWAS? Are they now in West Africa? There is a hidden Islamic agenda going on. West Africa is west Africa and not North Africa.

i dont agree...if thats is the case..then ecowas is a useless organization...all members have the same rights and their own voices....each can vote against or for it....nigeria just finance it more than others because we can afford it...this still doesnt give us special rights over others....

BigBelleControl:
Morocco joining ECOWAS is a win-lose situation. Morocco is close to Spain and West Africans that engage in illegal migration can have easy access to Morocco due if they have ECOWAS PASS. This will make their run into Europe a bit easier.
However, it will lead to trade imbalance as Morocco will flood West African markets with their goods.
Moreover, their colonizing of Western Sahara is another dent on them.

thank you..you are thinking smart! i like Nigerian Like you!

Watch and see they will probably seek the kind of ojoro one-leg-in-one-leg-out membership that will deny entry to Ecowas Citizens. They will want us "monkeys" to still require a visa. The sort of ojoro membership that the UK had with the EU in terms of not joining the Euro.

Good Analysis...they need to stay in North African Group...

MORROCO cannot displace NIGERIA in any way unless we let them to. Morroco is the key to accessing the mediterranen sea due to its location. The distance between the morrocan border and spain's is barely about 20km. Infact MORROCO HAS NO ENEMY COUNTRY IN THIS WORLD(besides Israel) everybody wants to be in their good books. They are already key leaders in north africa besides EGYPT, even if they leave north africa, nothing will change their status. They just want to expand their market, and able to stake a claim on their lost territory, SARAWI REPULIC!

Bu** Sh88 Analysis...We all know that North African COuntries are Racist against Black Africans..but the War of Terror and the
Troubles in North Africa is now a reason why Morrocco is trying to escape the problem their and seek West African Security..

Dont you know if something goes wrong in Morroco or is invaded by insurgents ie terrorist from Libya etc that would mean that
Nigerian, Ghanian Troops will have to go and defend them...

Also Gulf States such as Qatar, Dubai, Kuwait etc are looking for a channel to access West African Resources and Minerals and
control west African Resources...

Dont be Short-sighted....Qatar, Dubai, Kuwait have already signed Potential MOU's to access West African Resources if Morocco enters
Ecowas...

Also Morroco is looking for a states(s) to blame for all the illegal migrants entering Europe from thier borders...

Dont be Fooled Many Powerful Arabic and EU states are looking at this from their own advantage....

Nigeria 'owning' ECOWAS is the reason Ecowas has never achieved anything other than ''ECOMONG soldiers''. We have to have diff super powers for french speaking, and english speaking smaller countries to maki it work!

Nigeria has boosted the Economy of Benin, Togo and Ghana...We are at a point in history where West Africa is growing strong..

The EU want to use Morrocco as a tool to Monitor and Control Chinese Influence and Investment in Wets Africa....

France is not a threat to Nigeria.

If you guys had allowed Nigeria to function well, the technological innovations of the Biafrans would have industrialized ECOWAS and displaced France
