A self-proclaimed prophet, reported to have raped and
stolen from a number of unsuspecting young women under
the pretext of cleansing them of spiritual marriages, has
been arrested and detained by the police in Kumasi.
Dacosta Owusu Tawiah would often convince his victims
that they were under spiritual bondage and would have to
be freed.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Juliana Obeng, the
Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, said the
suspect would then visit them in their homes, where under
the guise of driving out the evil spirits, mix some liquid
substance, laced with sleeping tablets for them to drink.
