So how do you plan to make money from the group?

I guess in my case, money actually came looking for me. How is what I can't share. But it was more about passion at first, and keeping my audience interested.

20 views daily after 8 months?

Are you sure your SEO is good?

www.dnbstories.com started with 400 views daily and went to 2K after 5 months with little promotion.

Now I average 5 - 7K views each day and I haven't done any form of promotion in the last 2 years.
Like how much do you make with up to 7k traffic, don't b angry at me o, I am deeply interested in blogging but I just don't want to start when I know it doesn't help me financially, so I don't start and crash. Pleaassss!

I thought of selling off the blog on Flippa but the highest bid was $430 and haven considered my 5 years labor, I decided not to sale it for such pea nut. Now fast forward to 2017, I make almost that bid price ($400) per month. grin

Good day house.
Please I want to start a blog to promote my affiliate links and I don't really have a passion for blogging. And almost everybody is saying "if you don't have a passion for blogging then don't go into it in the first place". Does that mean I shouldn't go into blogging, if so what then should I do. Please I really need your advice

I beg to disagree, technology is actually where the traffic and money are, but its rather over crowded so you'd have tons of job to do to stand out. cool

Ranking doesn't work like that no more. Heard of Google Penguin? Google now uses a dynamic and fluid algorithm for ranking what a user sees on his/her search results. Two users searching for the exact same keyword can get two different Google results. Keyword optimization should be natural and fresh and your page can be negated due to over-optimization. Synonyms are ranked now alongside keywords.

Again, Google loves fresh content. Research on content that hasn't been posted before. Post fresh content, provide links when necessary and be Google's friend. It's that easy. You have to be as natural as possible. I don't advise always looking at traffic. Traffic measurement should be in relation to time.

Having a Nigerian phone review site helps you narrow down in your niche, and reduce the competition. It is a sure way to go.

Lol I'm not a blogger. I'm just an SEO lover. Okay, first things first. How much content do you have on your blog? The more content, the more Google has to crawl. So I'll advise that you beef up your blog first. Then I'll give you a list of things you can do to rank better:

Domain name (If you aren't using the Google's i.e www.domainname..com, I'll suggest you have a Nigerian domain; .ng). This is a cheat code. Be location specific. A .com is global and you'll show up everywhere but if your content is localized, please get a .ng domain.

Social Media (Open up social media accounts with direct emphasis on Google+ and Youtube. Provide content on these two with links to your blog and watch your rankings improve in a very short time)

Mobile friendly (Of course, Google favors more mobile optimized sites now)

Content length (While providing content, make sure that it is long enough. About 200 - 400 words per post will do justice - it gives Google more to work on and expand your keyword use)

Headings and Freshness: Make sure the keywords you want to be ranked for are time-bound, coined in a fresh manner and at worst, captured a little bit in your headings. E.g (Lose weight is the keyword, your heading could be; 5 ways to lose weight before December 2017). That is time-bound, fresh and Google is happy to boost your rankings amongst other because it's a fresh content.

Backlinks: Your blog should provide a flow of engagement for your content. So it's perfectly okay to link to other sites and have other sites link to you. But don't go searching for it. If your content requires you linking to other sites, fine. If not, just grow naturally. Also if you provide a similar content to a previous post on your blog, link to it. The flow of engagement is very important. Once Google Analytics can accurately present your visitors browsing pattern to you without you being confused, know you are on the right track.

There is a whole lot on content like words per sentence, keyword frequencies etc but keyword optimization is dying. These may still work but are not as effective as what you have up there.

In summary, all of these are the things I would do without noticing or finding definitions for them if I was blogging for passion. That's Google's ultimate mission. The Penguin has been around since 2012. Imagine how accurate it has been fine tuned to be over the past 5 years. Unlearn what you know about SEO and blog for fun for a while. You'll see improvements.
