The Philistines had no direct link whatsoever with Palestine except the geographical entity. After the Philistines came the Byzantines and finally Othman Empire. Palestine was a mere name the British Lord Belfour gave to territories seized from Othman Empire as the ally of defeated German in 1919 and mandated under British caretaker. The British Mandate of Palestine included Jordan and Israel. There was a place known as French Mandate of Syria which included Lebanon and Syria. There was British Mandate of Mesopotamian which became Iraq.
