GOVERNOR EMMANUEL INSPECTS 18 ROADS CONSTRUCTED IN UYO METROPOLIS

Wednesday, March 7th, 2018 | News
Ndifreke P. Akpan (Govt. House)

Governor Udom Emmanuel has expressed deep satisfaction with the quality and number of road projects currently being executed by his administration, saying that without huge investments in infrastructure, his industrialization plan can never succeed.

Governor Emmanuel spoke Wednesday when he undertook a tour of several road projects currently being executed by his administration within Uyo metropolis.

Led by the Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyangeyen, the Governor said he was impressed that so many roads projects have taken shape within the short period.

At Ewet Housing Estate, the Governor said, “Actually I didn’t know that with the money we deployed, even within this estate, we’ve done in total up to 10 roads within this Ewet Housing Extension alone.”

He also commended the quality of drainage at the area, saying it would forestall the devastating effect of flood water on the new roads in the housing extension.

We know the devastating impact of those drains and I don’t want to go into details but seeing the quality of what they have done there, even the concept on how to take out those outfall drains, I think it’s quite impressive.

Mr Emmanuel said he was happy that Atan Offot area, has also been made accessible to the entire state capital through a new network of roads constructed by his Government for the people.

He said the excitement expressed by the people of the community during his inspection visit, makes him wonder how they would react when he returns to commission the roads in few weeks.

The Governor who promised to also commission the Ring Road 2, during his third year anniversary in office, explained that the scenario was that of total shutdown, no access, as the road was merely a design.

But today, you can see they are already pouring stone base which means that by May 29, we should be able to commission Ring Road 2.

He also expressed optimism that Ring Road 3 which work has also commenced, will be ready by the end of the year, “which means that before we go into election next year, all these road networks would have been completed.”

He urged people to support his infrastructural expansion programme as catalysts for industrial development and growth in the state.

People talk about, the blueprint of Industrialization, they don’t understand that you start with Infrastructure, if you don’t have the Infrastructure on ground, the industries won’t stand. We won’t even attract the good ones.

He said his zeal to execute so many projects was in line with his passion to work and provide good governance to the people.

He said he has refused to play to the gallery about the numerous roads projects of his administration because he was not in the state for the sake of applause.

He said the people who expect him to make noise about roads would be surprise by the number of factories that will spring up soon.

“We don’t want the people who had given us respect over the years to just think Oh!! It’s just today we are building roads or just today we are commissioning pipeborne water because the outside world believe we have already gone pass that stage,” he added.

Also speaking during the visit, PDP State Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, said the Governor has made the party proud over his choice as the party’s candidate ahead of 23 others in the 2015 elections.

He said Governor Emmanuel remained the best Governor in Nigeria with the enablers for industrialization being put in place, adding that from the expression on faces everywhere visited, it was clear that his administration was in tune with the expectations of the people.

Roads inspected included the seven roads in Atan Offot Community, Ring Road 2 and the 10 Roads in Ewet Housing Extension.

The Governor was escorted by the Secretary to the State Government, Members of the State Executive Council, Aides of the Governor and other chieftains of the party.

Seems the Governor just woke up from slumber, a very sectional political mistake that Akpabio made, but I can understand that he thought as a great mind in the Financial Services sector, that brain translate to common-sense, but this is not the case here.

The roads are shady and narrow, the gutters are not straight, the culvets are silly-looking.

I do not think he should be given a chance at a second term. The picture of his house that I saw, made me think they man got some taste, but I was mistaken, he is a massive fraud.

The Tropicana hotel, conference centre and amusement park that Gov. Akpabio did not complete during his tenure, Is at an advanced stage of negotiation for it to be leased to private investor so they can complete the projects with their own money and manage it for a period of time where they would recover their investment and after which they will turn it over to AKSG.
The deal is almost done and the investor will be announced soon. thats according to the AKSG.

You will find it difficult to convince anyone even a primary one kid that that type of governor just woke up from slumber, thats a product of long term planning, foresight and hardwork. Just wait till may 29th democracy day the gov. is poised to commission 100 roads on that day. a feat that No governor past or present has ever achieved yet, even the APC FG cannot compete with that.

Where else in Nigeria have you seen roads in villages with side drains and walkways? Be truthful, It is only Gov. Udom that is constructing all roads including the ones in interior villages with side drains, stone bases and every road is well monitored and built to standard and specification.

You are a praise singer, and I am a critic and we are all doing our best to ensure the citizens reap the benefit of governance, but I do not like lies and the lies are written all of the place. What do you even mean by 1700km of roads ? Why didnt you just type 5,700km, cos it is just a paper-tiger, you can choose to write 20,000km of road, it is on paper, I do not see such pictures. And again, 35 bridges, right ? And why didnt you just write 250 bridges, any one can type anything, there are no pictures, nothing has been commissioned, no one has seen the 35 bridges, may be the bridges are on the 4th Dimension of the Physical plane that we can only see with the third eye.

I love the Governor, but he is the worst governor of that State. I bought a land at Uyo cos I heard the Governor is on a massive industrialization drive, and I came in there to prepare to build something, then I noticed there are no new constructions and I heard the guy is sectional and develops only his axis which was abandoned by previous administration, and I love him doing that, but at least the construction of the roads to his people should be commensurate with the budget and allocations of that small state. With a population of about 6 million people and the highest allocation from Abuja cows, that State is supposed to beat Lagos, Kano and Rivers in new projects, but we have praise singers like you, who are paid some token to eat eba and foo foo not telling them the truth.

My templates are world class, I do not believe a Governor should do a shady job because the roads are intra-village roads. I believe the Governor should maintain a standard, given the resources at his disposal. Let us not argue further, I am sure you know what I mean, but you are not going to accept it publicly even though your sub-conscious awareness gets the message. Your ego will keep fighting the truth because your palms seems to have been oiled.

Stop projecting your vices on me, if you are a praise singer call your self that. I am a satisfied citizen of Akwa ibom who is happy about the way our governor is handling state affairs.
All the roads and bridges in Akwa Ibom State are clearly stated and appropriated for in Akwa Ibom State. The House of Assembly appropriate money for roads based on KM and they are well documented on the state budget from 2015 till date. and Akwa Ibom state budget is a public document unlike that of other state.
I will refer you to a respected independent statistical company BUDGIT website http://yourbudgit.com/ so you can go download Akwa Ibom state budget and verify for yourself. No one is throwing around figures here there are verifiable facts, just put in the job.

Heres another helpful list that was published last year https://akwaibomstate.gov.ng/2018/01/06/list-roads-project/ the list is not conclusive as a lot of other roads have since commenced after that publication, but it will serve as a guide.

I'm happy my state is developing rapidly in the last 11 years, but I hope Nigeria can stop this open drainage road construction that litters everywhere. I mean this is very archaic. Are we developing in retrogression? I have yet to see a single road across Europe that has open drainage.
Is a road with sidewalks on top the drainage to much for us to do in Nigeria? We should be building for the future, not for temporary satisfaction.

Second Runway at The State Owned International Airport in Uyo, The Only State owned and Maintained CAT 2 Airport in Nigeria with Instrument Landing System ILS that enable planes to land in bad weather and at night when there is less visibility.

The AKIA (QUO) is the only airport in Nigeria Besides the federally owned Lagos and Abuja with functional ILS and night landing capabilities at the moment.

Work has reached 90% completion Govt will soon open for use, this great investment that will officially cement AKIA as the airport with the best runway in West Africa.

Interestingly the 2nd runway has the same CBT that will support Aircraft weight, an an impressive length of 3.5km x 60m width as the first runway, and is designed for the biggest/widest Aircraft in the world.
The second runway will also function as a taxiway, this is a very innovative runway design that will allow the airport to remain open in event of the shutdown of any of the runway either for emergency or for maintenance work. cheesy.

This type runways are uncommon in West Africa, even the Nations capital Abuja Airport has only one runway which was recently shutdown for maintenance, crippling Nigerias Economy that is already walking on crutches.

The Airport is also the home to the biggest Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and overhaul MRO facility building in West Africa, Which will soon open for business.

Port Harcourt International has night landing capabilities.

He is mentioning Instrument Landing Capabilities as if it is a new technology. The worst anyone can do is comparing his actions with locally available competitors. Great mind compete with the global standards, and I know Akwa Ibom people are very much educated class, education is free there, but then this OP wants to limit his people to reasoning on Nigeria standard, that is unfair, we should judge ourselves by global standards, I guess that is where we both disagree.

The open drainage are designed to be covered. most drains are covered in Akwa Ibom especially in the cities. but govt does not have money to cover all of them at the moment. but where they are not covered, provision are made in the design for their covers in future.

It must interest you to know that Akwa Ibom state is the only state in the country that has deployed Pipe jacking engineering and underground drainage's in its cities. Uyo, Ikot Ekpene, Abak and recently under this administration, Oron and Eket are beneficiaries of such underground drainage's which are currently handling storm water, but in the future will all be linked to a sewage treatment plant and will start recieving, recycling and treating raw sewage. there are over 25 km of underground drainage's in Akwa Ibom, For those who are wondering where Akwa Ibom Money went some of them are buried underground LOL grin grin grin - get it?
Only in Akwa Ibom will you find such forward thinking.

Pls pardon my mistake, we can add port harcourt airport to the list of airport with night operation capability. But bros, what Abuja, Lagos and port harcourt have in common is that they are built and maintained by the federal Government.

Akwa Ibom international airport, is a state effort. it is built, owned, operated and maintained by Akwa Ibom State government. That was the point i was trying to make.

Your words cannot be painful to me because i speak the truth with evidience of work done not hype. and i know you speak out of ignorance or because you are not well informed. if the latter is The problem i will further endeavor to enlighten you:

1. No governor in Akwa Ibom State or any state has ever accomplished what gov. Udom has accomplished in Just 2yrs 10 months.
What you are hearing now is just a tip of the iceberg.Just wait till may 29, 2018. you will be amazed. Because gov. udom is a quiet guy and not quite as talkative like other governors we have had does not mean he is not working. Yak usung asine ke udung abet asen. am not going to say more than that.

2. Gov. Udom is the most balanced governor when you talk of spreading development. Every local government, senatorial district and federal constituencies has government presence in terms of projects as we speak. no Akwa Ibom governor can beat their chest as say they built roads in every local Govt. even those who spent 8yrs. But Udom can say that i just 2yrs 10 months. Even the APC FG is not that fair or liberal.

3. Gov. Udom is the only Akwa Ibom governor that has positively created steady jobs in the private sector in the state gradually weaning AkwaIbomites from civil Service State paradigm. am not talking temporary construction jobs here but permanent ones.
are they enough, I will be truthful to say no. But the process has began under him in Earnest, and the governor is not resting on this regards.

4. Gov. Udom is the only Nigerian Gov. currently that can say truthfully say he has built inter state roads in Nigeria. Now we are Not talking about one inter state road, but two.
a) Nto edino in Obot akara LGA to Ekwere Azu in Abia state.
b) Odoro Ikpe - Obotim In Ini LGA to Arochukwu in Abia State.
How many Interstate Highways has the APC federal Govt built in the same 2yrs 10 months like Gov. Udom has spent?
