On a secondary note, that is the first match in their new stadium and Legia was really up for this match as they seemingly didn't want to lose their first match in their new stadium while we just took it like any other Pre-season game.
But still gives reasons for concern with that defense though, just don't seem to be able to handle pressure when it comes.

Like I said pages ago, Arsenal's problem is not who plays in the defense. The guy coaching the defenders needs to go. And if its AW who is in charge, then he should bring in someone to do that job. Its obvious he's not good enough in that area.

i doubt if he still wants to sign a goolie except he will change his mind after todays performance. Yesterdays pre-match interview had it that he was still pondering who his no 1 will be, and who will be the goolie he will give out on loan.

Look at all those instance you've mentioned, only one thing stands out, a moment of brilliance or in Theo's case exploitation of a unique ability (pace). The difference between Theo and Arshavin is ability, if anything Theo is actually a more committed player than Arshavin can ever be. Theo was brought in to do something similar to what Arshavin does (accelerate the game), only thing is Arshavin can still pass and shield the ball and even when disinterested will not make our game totally disjointed.

The ineptitude of Diaby and Denilson did not lead to Fabianski's gaffe or Silvestre's inability to contain Drogba, if you look at possesion stats we still had better possesion than Chelsea in that match and lost to Drogba's physicality. If you ask me, one of the reasons why we lost was because guys like Theo and Adebayor did not help the MF translate possesion into danger for the opposition.
I would be on Denilson's neck if you can convince me that Frimpong or Eastmond would do a better job than Denilson which you can't do but I'm almost certain that any of Wilshere, JET and Lansbury would be a better player than Theo in any position you need him to be on the pitch. Infact you can add both Sunu and Barazite to that list.

Now this is the true source of our disagreement and to be honest it is a puzzle to me and one of the main reasons I think Theo might no longer have a place in the first team. The likes of Arshavin and Nasri can turn a game on its head with a moment of magical skill or pace and they do this without sacrificing the basic pass and move ethic of the team, if all we are keeping Theo around for is to make the odd run that leads to a goal, where does that leave the rest of the team? is that how to to build a team that plays total football? keeping in mind that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
Anyway, I'm eagerly waiting for the completion of Wellington Silva's move in January, that would be the final nail in Theo's coffin cos that chap would be another Arshavin in the squad and I trust Arsene to do the right thing with Theo once we get this English player agitation off our backs.

How many of these moments of brilliance do we get? 1 in every 10 matches? and how do those make up for all the moves that have broken down? there is no player I don't point out what I perceive to be their faults and I also point out improvements when I see it. I always knock Vela for his unseriousness and would always put Song ahead of Denilson until he bulks up, Rosicky who is one of my favorite players has had a horrendous pre-season and needs to sharpen up, you hear more about Theo from me because every game he plays now exposes him more.
At 21 and with all the game time Theo has had he should be close to what he will be now. CR9 at 18/19 had poor decision making but could at least dribble past his man most of the time even though he tended to overdo it, Theo is all over the place when he receives the ball, even before he decides what to do with it he would have lost the ball.

Would you in all fairness claim that Theo has been performing at the top stage consistently as far as I'm concerned they are all developing players with Theo being given more opportunity so far in the first team. I am happy that will be changing very soon, people like JET and Wilshere are better footballers IMO.

This is a good line of thought, but I would want those times to be few and far in between. It is also worth considering the fact that the presence of players like Theo in the team hinders our playing pattern, just maybe that is why he is a good impact player and not a starter.

Can you join me in congratulating Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs on their first call up to the 3 lions, may they be the first of a new generation of gooners who will become mainstays of the 3 lions.
