The substance is not on whether he fulfilled prophecy or not but on the very act which is betrayal. Thus he is a Traitor except we want to modify the meaning of Traitor.
However he is an unceremonious hero.

"Matthew 26:24
The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born."
The death of Jesus would have come anyway, but it didn't have to by Judas, so I don't think he should be regarded as a hero.

To answer your question...
Judas came to fulfill a prophecy but mind you, the prophecy did not have Judas name in it, why did he choose to be the one to fulfill it.

9 Even my best friend, the one I trusted completely,     the one who shared my food, has turned against me.
Psalms 41 :9

Iscariot. surname of Judas, betrayer of Jesus, in New Testament, from Latin Iscariota, from Greek Iskariotes, said to be from Hebrew ishq'riyoth "man of Kerioth" (a place in Palestine). In English from 1640s as a noun meaning "traitor." Related: Iscarioticala

If truly Iscariot means traitor then he only continued on the line of his forefathers. He's no Hero in my opinion. He remains a Traitor. Hero do not commit suicide only Coward do.

For many of us Christians, there is always a debate about the role of Judas Iscariot in the death of Jesus. Many people are usually of the school of thought that if God really wanted Jesus to die on the cross, then Judas was only making it possible. Well,
till date, many Bible scholars still believe Judas is a traitor but in a more logical thinking, if Judas Iscariot didn't betray Jesus then how would the death of Jesus be possible?

Have you read my signature today?
quite unfortunate..this is why most Christians don't know the word..Judas is the seed of the serpent, right from the garden of eden..

Judas betrayed Prophet Issa (A.S.W) Jesus. And he paid the supreme price of been nail on the cross and not Jesus. Allah took Jesus to heaven and put the image of Jesus on Judas.

Check his motive guys. He did it for selfish reasons not to fulfil anything.

As we celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, Christians all over the World are joyous because without His resurrection, our faith would have been in vain.
It is also pertinent to know that without the betrayal of Christ by one of the disciples, Judas, Christ would not have been killed and the resurrection would not have taken place. This automatically means that the SCRIPTURES would not have been fulfilled.
As crazy as it sounds, I have been wondering why the name of someone who played this vital role is today synonymous with leprosy. It's so bad that you hardly find people answering the name Judas.
Why is this the case? What do you really think is the reason for this?
Please men of God in the house, help me with answers.
Should Judas be seen truly as a traitor or hero? Or both?

What most people do not know is that, you can avoid being a path to which something happens, either good or bad.. There was nothing that could have stopped the death and resurrection of Jesus christ. Judas iscariot was not destined to betray jesus, he just allowed himself to be used because of his covetousness, that is why we should all strive to be a moralist. Moralist hardly gets into unnecessary trouble.

Judas iscariot is a Traitor not a hero !!! But who am i to judge?!

Don't take this stand. Don't be the man to ever ponder on this. Remember, Woe unto the world for sin commeth, but Woe unto the man from which sin will come from.

Am not referring to judas.

Not a jot or a tittle of the word of God would go without fulfillment. The betrayal of Jesus Christ was prophesied far back in the old testament but Judas name wasn't mentioned. We all have our parts to play in destiny. There are evil prophesies dat some one the last day would cry unto the Lord but he will say he never knew them. Notice also, nobody name was mentioned. It is left for u or me to decide wch prophecy we wanna fulfill, whether evil or good prophecy. If Judas didn't betray Jesus, another person would have cos every word of God must come to pass

The Bible cursed the day he was born. It was better he was not born at all. So the word heroe shouldn’t cross our mind, even tho he’s actions caused fulfillment of a prophecy.

I have asked several pastors this question, if indeed the son of God came to commit suicide then Judas act was not one of betrayal but fulfilment meaning he didn't commit a crime hence the guilt and his suicide wasn't necessary. He should be a saint then? Why then did Lord Jesus say father forgive them for they know not what they do? Why ask for forgiveness for mankind when indeed they fulfilled the prophesized suicide ?

I am not a bible scholar, it had been stated that a son of God, Jesus would be betrayed but never destined to be Judas. It's evident Jesus noticed immediately Judas was consumed by the devil, and he told him do it quick. Jesus made this statement for he knew the moment the devil left Judas, the prophecy might not be fulfilled

in Judges 2 : 14 God used the enemies around the Isrealites to defeat them. They could no longer stand up against their enemies. Because God wanted to rebuke them. Also Pharoah was an enemy to God..and God used him to fulfill the scriptures.....When you make yourself available for evil..God would use you to fulfill His word... it could have been anyone who chose to do evil...whether he would have fulfilled scriptures or not...He would have still been evil...So Judas was not a Hero..If he was righteous God wouldn't have used him for that part.. He would have been a great Apostle..and God would still use another who makes himself available for evil to still carry out his scriptures..

Judas was martyred in the bible, he disguised as Jesus and Jesus kissed him n boom, he was arrested n he died on the cross.

THAT'S WHY HE WAS SHOUTING MY GOD MY GOD WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME!!

A God that came to die n save mankind doesn't call on himself in heaven (trinity) to save him wen he's about to die for mankind......Thus fulfilling what he came to do.
Well that is a story to be concluded later.

Judas in the Christian story is an instrument of God, God used him to fulfil the coming n dying of christ... (Though there was never a time in heaven God asked the host of heaven "Who will go and leave my people on earth).

Good day.

Jesus said in the book of
Matthew 26:24
"The Son of man goes as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born."

If my Lord Jesus had placed a terrible course on the man Judas who betrayed Him, who am I to now declare a cursed man a hero.

People should becareful in their thinking so they don't partake in the "woe unto" course. Our ways are not the way of God.

He is a traitor. The prophecy has already been written ( Mattew26:24)and Jesus said one of you will betray me(Matthew 26:21). It has been written but Jesus didn't want it to happen and said it would have been better if such person was not born ( Mattew26:24). Also, he loves money to the extent of betraying Jesus. Kindly read Mattew 26:17-30

Exactly it seems even he didn't expect mankind to react they way they did by murdering him.. that was anplain murder orchestrated by the churches then

Same would.haooen today if he came.to Nigeria . Imagine a common dude preaching everyday in Abuja and all the church members from Christmas embassy , KICC, Catholic church, winners chapel, redeemed etc started going to hear him preach instead of going to their respective churches these same.men of God today would come together and go and meet buhari and say this man is trying to form buafra just so they don't loose the moneied they get from offering and pledges and if buhari happens to interview and tell them he finds no guilt in him they will tell osibanjo to tell him that if he doesn't crucify that man he will.loose the Christian support in coming elections and poor buhsti being a human and politician will have make a wrong choice of washing his hands and crucifying him

This was what before the son of God

He was murdered plain and simple and the churchodified the teachings to hide this crime to further there earthly claim to power and control by saying he came to die for you?

That's plain wrong

How can a perfect good who can.trun stones to humans send his son to commit suicide then it won't be wrong to take ones loved ones place in a court of law when one is to be sentenced to death! If man's laws that are no where near perfect will never permit this injustice is it God's laws that are perfection that would ?
