Hello, your sibling or a friend can help you submit it, go to VFS website and download the consent form. Fill the appropriate portions and sign, add this to the package you're sending to your sibling. He/she can also pick it up on your behalf. Congrats once again!! smiley

DereI:
Hello all,

About passport submission, can a sibling submit my passport at vfs? I'll pick up myself after stamping. Who have done this?

Most likely fake news. Oyinbo people don't do these sorts of things in my experience.how would they obtain consent at that time when you haven't committed a crime and your phone was not unlocked? What reason did they give for going through his phone?

Abeg...takes this with a bag of salt...

Hello can this be true.
WHATSAPP MESSAGES, VIDEOS AND PICTURES.

I am a lawyer licensed to practice law in Canada and I handle a lot of immigration cases.

I came across a case this last Sunday (July 1, 2018 - Canada Day), which I thought is necessary to be shared amongst close ones without disclosing confidential information.

This client travelled from Africa into Canada and was interviewed at the point of entry into Canada. During the course of the interview, he was asked to hand over his phone to the Canada Border Services Agency officer. Upon reviewing the videos stored on his phone. The officer saw a video of a man raping a child and detained him for possessing child pornography.

He was determined to be ineligible to enter into Canada on grounds of criminality and was refused entry into Canada as he was determined to be a risk to public safety. He has now been charged to Court for being in possession of child pornography.

My client alleges that it was a widely spread WhatsApp video in Africa (I am sure some of you would have seen the same video) and that it automatically downloaded into his phone without his knowledge. He will definitely have his day in Court to prove his innocence, but we do not have to wait to allow such things happen.

What’s the moral of this story? This is the era of social media and the distribution of all sort of messages/videos/pictures. Check your phone on a daily basis and ensure that you delete all unsolicited pictures, messages and videos. Block anyone who has a penchant for distributing unwarranted pictures, messages and videos - you may not only be saving yourself from unforeseen embarrassment and/or criminal charges, you don’t want your kids to stumble into such messages, videos and pictures.

Finally, a whole lot is indulged in Africa (not meaning to be demeaning). It is a different ball game out of Africa. So for EVERYONE travelling, do a thorough search of the content of your phone before you embark on each trip - just to be sure you are CLEAN. What happened to my client could have happened to anyone, just because he didn’t pay any attention to the videos/messages he received on WhatsApp.

This is not a joke, it is a true story.to

So it is (very) possible for their Canadian counterparts to go through phones.
Now whether the person was deported for the reason quoted is another matter.

Permit me to laugh at this your post. It doesn't seem you have been anywhere near the US border. Even if you have, maybe you haven't been quizzed by US Border Patrol officers before. By law, they have the right to search through your personal belongings, and that includes your phone(s) and any electronic devices you have with you whether you give them consent or not . Don't waive it aside, it is very very very possible.

Please dont say so cos no harm in being cautious. I have a relative whose phone was collected and went through, infact, the man connected his phone on their wireless for hanging/pending message to enter and they read it all to his ear. He was subsequently deported and B1/B2 visa cancelled. Please take with plenty of sugar. Thanks.

@ DaddyTheFather, the story might be false but I am certain the US CBP can request that you unlock your phone and they will take their time to check every little information you have in it. They have sent many people back to their countries just by checking their phones. Please don't ignore but this particular story might not be truth but it can happen.

Let us be cautious.

Of course it can be true. I know the video being referred to and it's not a thing anyone should see, how much more a border officer. Like I said earlier, people need to sanitize their content both on and offline.

Dappydappa:
So, I shared this long epistle on the 6th of April, 2018.

Hey mate, it's ok to cry but make sure you get up, dust ur ass and do the exam again. However, I suggest you do not attempt a re-evaluation. They will just take ur money and give same results. Lemme share my IELTS journey with you.

1st attempt.....5.5, 5.5, 7.0, 7.0
2nd attempt....6.0, 7.5, 7.5, 7.5
3rd attempt.....6.0, 5.5, 7.5, 7.0
4th attempt.....7.5, 7.5, 7.5, 7.0
5th attempt.....6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 7.5
6th attempt.....8.5, 6.5, 7.0, 7.5
7th attempt.....9, 7.0, 6.5, 8.0
8th attempt.....9, 8.5, 7.0, 7.0.

Note that where I live, the BC IELTS test is about 110k, re-evaluation is 63k and I spend a minimum of 150k for each of these attempts. IELTS humbled me but I eventually conquered.

For the listening practice, I wish I had stumbled into IELTS-mentor.com prior to my 6th attempt. You should definitely use this website and, attempt finishing the listening practice tests. There are about 14 of them. The answer section will show/tell you all that you had done wrongly in the previous exams. At the point where it says "you have sometime to look at your answers" during the listening test, kindly move on to next session if you have nothing to look at. That's actually the trick to have a headstart.
(Pls, don't apply for another exam unless you start to score 37 and above in the listening practice).

Also follow Jay on E2 language (YouTube) or his blog if you have money and don't mind paying for his teaching classes (I didn't). He is quite resourceful in reading, writing and speaking. Always write your answers (listening) in block (capital) letters.

Finally, do not stay down. It's okay to fail, weep, cry and feel devastated but, make sure you don't stay down. Get up, dust ur ass and always remember that it's only IELTS that is stopping you from getting your MAPPLE card.

***Shout outs to Gliterringstar and Amoese. I don't know how to thank you guys.

Then,
I got ITA on the 11th of April, 2018... CRS was 449
eAPR on 3rd May

ECA - I made a mistake earlier but by God's grace,  it was corrected before my file assessment began. I started my document evaluation with IQAS on 31st July 2017, sent my Bsc only and got acknowledgment on the 5th of September and after that i came across a post tslking sbout 2 or certificates. So i contacted IQAS and after several pleas, they agreed that i send another certificate while my file will be put on hold until they receive the new documents. After several challenges encountered in the school, my documents got to IQAS on september 26th. Received new acknowledgement October 25th and ECA arrived exactly 25mins after i made my ielts.

*Conclusion: Two or more certificates* .

IELTS - Listening humbled me big time but in all I give thanks to God and my sweet boo who after every attempt was so encouraging and prayerful. My attempts below;

Yes. Child pornography is a very serious matter overseas, and folks should be careful too not to have pirated softwares and pirated digital content on them. If you also have social media conversations that may implicate you, its best you do away with them. Can't say for Canada but several people have been asked to choose between deportation or Court(possibility of being jailed) after searching their phones and laptops at POE in the U.S.

For U.S, the courts in one of its rulings, gave power to homeland security to conduct "warrantless search" at Point of Entries. If you refuse to unlock your device as a non U.S citizen, you would be deported. If you are a citizen, you would be allowed entry but your device would be confiscated for weeks and its data copied for analysis.

Not everyone's device is searched though, it is a random thing.

I do not doubt this story one bit. Checks like this are done during secondary inspection in the U.S., and so experiencing same in Canada won't be far-fetched. In fact, my sister was not just asked to unlock her phone, she was asked to draw her unlock pattern on a sheet of paper so that the agent would - in our Naija expression - use his hand and open the phone! They checked through her Whatsapp, text messages, etc. Thank God everything was benign.

To avoid stories that touch, Whatsapp allows you to disable media auto download. That way you can choose what gets saved on your phone.

Hello house,

I will still go through the pages with time but I wish to migrate to Canada. I have a degree in Information Security and also with good knowledge of Blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Also, I have academics IELTS result with a 7.5/9.

Dear nairalanders, kindly help with the process, cost and all possible tidbits to get to Canada and also, does this look feasible this year?

I just got turned down from a job cos I don't have work permit, the HR thought I was already a go but she advised I work towards coming around as it's easier to get a job while on ground than away in another country.

I seek your candid opinion and suggestions in this migrating thing.

Appreciate lots.

Hello brother kindly help me with the academic ielts materials please ....my email is abdulpharm6@gmail.com. thanks
