Can somebody explain this crap "According to him, the drink allegedly contained 10 cubes of sugar as against the 10 and a half to 10 one-quarter cubes contained in other malt drinks"? It sounds stupid with respect to what he's allegedly fighting for.

Is 10 cubes > 10 1/2 cubes & 10 1/4 cubes?

10 cubes against 10 cubes and a half or 10 cubes and a quarter. Lol
That means the half and quarter is what made Amstel Malt low sugar

Men I cant drink malt again

The ex-VC will loose. The malt actually contained lower amount of sugar than all other malts by a half cube or a quarter; so it is qualified to be called low sugar.

So, he did not see Buhari that swore to Allah that Abacha did not steal to sue?

Foolish man. angry
keep deceiving urself...what is malt itself?...malit is sugar

The Prof wasted his education, if he doesn't know the difference between 'low-sugar' & 'sugar-free'. Relatively, low-sugar doesn't av a clearcut quantity, whereas sugar-free connotes total absence of sugar.

just look at how u disgraced urself in public....will u still classify 10 cubes of sugar as low sugar?...with the fact that malt itself is sugar ?....from the VC speculation, malt has more sugar than soft drinks

Developed countries have the percentage amount of sugar while underdeveloped countries like Nigeria always have low sugar.
So for clarity sake the breweries should be told to state the percentage of sugar in their drink and not just say LOW SUGAR

We don't even know our right from left in this country. And majority will brag about their 1st class, MSc. and PhD. Do you know the benzoic acid contents of many of our soft drinks are over the maximum residue limits which are standards from regulatory bodies? You drink fanta from naija and another from South Africa.... walahi.... they taste differently, the difference is clear.

dammy13:
A former vice-chancellor, Benson Idahosa University (BIU), Prof. Ernest Izevbigie, has taken the Nigerian Breweries Plc. to a High Court in Benin City for alleged deception.

Izevbigie, a Professor of Biochemistry, accused the company of allegedly inscribing misleading information, “low sugar,” on the label of one of its non-alcoholic drinks, Amstel Malt.

The case, with suit number, B/281/2017, was filed at an Edo State High Court before the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Esohe Ikponmwen, through the claimant’s lawyer, Mr. Okonkwo Emmanuel of Henry Idahagbon and Co. (Trinity Chambers).

Izevbigie alleged that a laboratory investigation revealed that the product contained more sugar than the company claimed in the inscription of the brand.

He, therefore, prayed the court to order the company to tender a written apology because he had been injured by the alleged deception even as he claimed that the label was misleading to the public.

Izevbigie said that he had during a medical check-up discovered an increase in his blood sugar level, adding that he had traced the challenge to his regular intake of the malt drink.

During cross-examination by the counsel to the defendant, Mr. L. O. Ogiefere, Izevbigie told the court that Amstel Malt did not merit the “low sugar” label, according to clinical research.

According to him, the drink allegedly contained 10 cubes of sugar as against the 10 and a half to 10 one-quarter cubes contained in other malt drinks. The matter was later adjourned to June 28 for the defendant to opens its case.

I pity most of our youths, reading some of the unconstructive comments on page 1 is shameful.
The low sugar tag is deceptive going by the ex-VC's findings, let's wait and see how the defense prove their case. Interesting case

He knows the chemical aspect but not the legal, the latter is more important, he would be defeated, calling it low is a comparison to a standard, not necessarily other malt drinks, and even a quarter or an atom cube lower is still lower, he just wants to be popular, hin suppose go big brother then..

I scrolled down this far to find your answer.
You are correct.
The wording on the packaging leaves a lot of wriggle room for the company.
The case wont make headway

What this man is doing is what is done in other countries, and instead of him to be applauded, he is being condemned.
