You award a contract or initiate it without any plans for funding, then it is useless and can be described as a move to score political points and decieve those who have given in to be decieved. Now a serious government has come, within three years have reawarded the same contract and have taken the work up 50% completion. this project is a PPP that started in 2012/2013 under GEJ, Buhari stopped the project immediately he was sworn in. FG under GEJ has already paid all the money from its side to Julius Berger for this project, the remaining money will be provided by a number of private firms in Nigeria, first bank is one of them.

They will be a toll gate there and those private firms will collect back their investments by collecting those tolls for 25 years.

Buhari restarted the project just to get Igbo votes.

I strongly disagree with Fashola that only the bridge design was there when he resumed work. The work has gone far the pillars were already there, except politics play by Ngige and Rochas and the ruling party to discredit the previous government that started the work. In as much as I appreciate the work going on and want to see the bridge completed in no distance time, the truth must be told and politics should be kept aside when such project is going on.

To the dismay of a lot of Igbos, the Project only got to Piling stage as at January 2015
The Piling stage (not the entire bridge) is 50% complete now.
