Please nairalanders I need your advice. Am Igbo by tribe, I have this Hausa girl I love so much. We have been dating for three years now. Her parents know me and are happy for our relationship which we all anticipate will lead to marriage. The only problem I have is my family, though I have not made our relationship known to them, but I know how they think. They have been creating impressions that means no-acceptance of non-igbo Lady which will be presented to them by me. They have indirectly and constantly used that to advice me when it comes to choosing a partner.
Now am confused because I don't want to disobey my parents. I also love the girl so much and would not want to do anything that will hurt her. Pls I need your kind advice.

Back to the op,if you guys are same religion then all you need to do is to make your parent understand that this the woman that you love but pls don't with them because you will need their blessings and you must understand that marriage is not a contract its a life time commitment and finding someone that makes you happy
do not ever make the mistake of getting married to any girl base on tribe or religion cos our tribe and religion does not define who we are...there are two set of people in the world the good once and the bad once...do you love her unconditionally does she loves you same if your answer is possitive then go ahead and marry her and let your parent know that love knows no race or tribe,all that matters is understanding each other so you can have an outstanding relationship...all the best!

Look at problem in Nigeria , look at problem of world at large in terms of religion those two Abrahamic religion can never I mean NEVER stay together.

Igbo and Hausa people in Nigeria would have been very friendly if not for religion
