How to Get a Date Worth
Keeping
There's little point of going out
on a date that you know you
won't enjoy. Look forward to
your next social engagement by
finding the right person,
preparing for the event and
planning to perfect activities to
make it a date worth keeping.
Instructions
Meet someone who shares
your interests to ensure
you'll have plenty to talk about
during the date. Find a person in
a class you're taking, through
mutual friends or while
browsing in a favorite section of
the bookstore, for example.
Talk a few times on the
phone or correspond via
email before your date to get to
know each other a little. You'll
not only be able to eliminate
some of the first-date
awkwardness, but also build
anticipation and generate
conversation topics that you'll
look forward to discussing in
person. Prepare questions you'd
like to ask him and think of a
few interesting stories to ensure
you're keeping him interested.
Choose the perfect time for
your date. Schedule a day
when you'll both be able to
concentrate on each other
instead of worrying about work
or personal problems. The
attempt to get to know each
other won't be worth much if
you're distracted the entire time.
Make lunch or dinner
reservations at a restaurant
that you've been dying to try.
You'll be able to look forward to
a new dining experience and the
opportunity to bond over a fun
meal with your date.
Pick an activity that you
know you'll both enjoy.
Build on the fact that you share
similar interests. Discuss your
favorite pieces in a local art
museum, take in a concert in the
park or attend a movie revival,
for example.
