OP has his mind set on honda civic. He's just looking for someone to give him more gist about the car.
My advice, honda civic is very good, strong, rugged, fuel efficient, and very easy to maintain. However, if you want to problem free honda civic- GO FOR MANUAL.
Cheers

Manual cars are more fuel economical and reliable.

Fuel economical: The Manual T of this particular civic drives you 5 or more extra KM per gallon of fuel than the auto, this distance can come in handy when you're broke. you can also leave the car on neutral when the car is going down hill therefore the car burns little or no fuel, saving you fuel money. with an auto car, you need to fire the throttle to keep it moving.

Reliability : There are less moving parts in manual car, hence less chances of failure. A manual transmission cars operation is very simple. Clutch fails but rarely compared to an auto transmission which fails quite frequently especially if you have no maintenance culture. A clutch is cheaper than Changing an auto gear box.
sometimes when you're car is giving you problems, it can be pushed to start especially battery/alternator problem.

Cost : Manual Cars are always cheaper than the automatic version for reasons I stated earlier sophistication. So for e.g you could get a 2001-2003 civic manual for 400k while the auto would go for 500k and above ( 100k savings ). this is true for all cars Toyota Camry corolla accord etc.
The main disadvantage of Manual is that it is stressful for non manual lovers especially in a place like Lagos where traffic is mad. if you say you're in KD, you can gamble the manual t, KD is not Lagos so you won't be stuck in traffic for long with a manual transmission. a lot of people in the north drive manual cars

It's a better alternative to Toyota if not better than, depending on preference anyway and usage. Mind you honda is reputable for a strong and reliable engine.
Go for manual if you want to enjoy your honda. You can also read-up users review online and then make your choice. But from experience, manual is the best for honda civic.

OP, It won't be easy to own a car as a family of three that earn 110k/month. Rent, feeding, medicals, school fees, utility, extended family etc, are there too.

Cost of automobile ownership is not all about fuel and servicing. Be aware of engine and transmission cost as anything can happen. To avoid costly repairs, you must give it sublime care, which won't be cheap. Also remember you will need to replace tyres at some point.

Not discouraging you, just trying to expand your awareness. Best of luck.

Your choice of car is not bad though.

Mr Kashif, Tnx for ur contribution. Let me be more detailed now. my wife works also as a nurse n earns between 40k to 70k/month depending on her P.P. my child is just 9 months old. we are less than 2 years in marriage. still, I'm talking about a small engine car, cheap to maintain, within my humble means sir. ur response sir.

You wont go wrong with Honda Civic 2001-2005. I have been using 2004 model for close to three years now and travelled with it to very far distance regularly. Reliable and very cheap to maintain.

Bro, u owe no one an explanation why you need a car. You dont need to earn a million before you own one as well. Never let anybody discourage or give you fear.

I was using a car when my income isn't up to 30k and it was properly maintained. The secret is.. Don't bite more than you can chew. Don't get a car you might not be able to maintain. (Transmission, Body and parts maintanance, Tyre change etc)

Cars do talk, only if u can listen. Solve a minor issue quickly and you will save yourself of it getting complicated and becoming a major issue

LOL. People usually have the warped thinking that you should be comfortable (have a land, a house) before buying a car. A car is a necessity at some point. It affords you some convenience that would ultimately expand your lifespan. I mean it.

A car does not always mean luxury. It's a necessity, like housing.

My advice. Toyota Corolla 1997. Automatic transmission. Sells for less than 500k in pristine condition. Ask timifakay kingreign waleco to assist you with one. My friend in Zaria bought his at 250k from a professor....he's refused to let go of the ride. He maintained it on a salary of 60k with wife too. This is the picture below.

contrasting contributions, I'm not just out for any Honda car but the civic model (2000-2004), reviews show that the civic model is the strongest Honda model, even discussed with family that own/owned it. l also checked the link u shared sir. it's out of my budget, the car on the link goes for 650k. I'm not doing above my budget. Tnx for d advice sir.
