$500million about to go down the drain.

Good Lord!

I don't blame that man that attempted suicide.

This government policies is depressing, poor and feels of despotic bullshit.

$500million... Ajaokuta steel is comatosed, power is comatosed, health is comatosed, roads are death trap, security is crap...

Yet they want to give 5k monthly to poor people.

For what? So that they can live a bit longer to die by the same poverty the 5k monthly can't cure.

Your maths is off. $1m in $500m places is only 500ppl. But I understand your sentiment.
If they change $500m to naira its a whooping N179900000000.00. That's 179.9 billion naira.
Instead they could share 1m naira to everyone with bvn.

This can happen elsewhere but not in Nigeria

You have a budget deficit , you are borrowing money , yet you decide to "distribute" money.
Okay , let's assume you truly care about Nigerians, why not pick 5 teaching hospitals and put 100 Million dollars in each (That's about 32 Billion Naira using 320 naira to 1 dollar exchange rate) or do something else that would have a long term sustainable effect on Nigerians?

[quote author=nairavsdollars post=69127467]The federal government said poorest Nigerian families will get N5,000 each as it prepares to share $500m Abacha loot.

How will they identify these poor Nigerians? Is this not another way of relooting the Loot?

This is purely sharing of money to woo voters, that's even if it's not cornered by a few individuals seeing as we don't have a verifiable database of the poorest people in Nigeria. let's even assume there's,the $322million when converted and shared at the rate of 5000naira per person can only cater for less than 22million persons which is just 12% of our assumed current population of 190million. Anyhow one chooses to look at it,it is targeted at only a few select people which clearly shows a government bereft of ideas on projects that are more self sustaining and of more benefits to the generality of nigerians
