On Saturday, July 14 2018, the 11th edition of Access Bank London Polo Tournament held at the Windsor Polo ground, United Kingdom . This prestigious community-building sports event, that often commences in northern Nigeria concludes in London, and which Access Bank has been powering over the years as part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities, provided the opportunity to celebrate some notable Nigerians who have contributed immensely to positive community building. It was pursuant to this that the bank extended an invitation for the event to the renowned Federal Law Maker and leading Imo state governorship aspirant, Honourable Tony Nwulu, His Royal Majesty, Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, and others.

Hon. Tony Nwulu, who is the Deputy Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Capital Market and Institutions was applauded by Access Bank, for his great relationship with the bank over the years. At tournament, Hon Nwulu spent quality time with the GMD/CEO of Access Bank PLC, Herbert Nwigwe, during which they discussed more options of contributing to the growth of Nigerian communities. Hon Nwulu also had lengthy discussions with Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, a former CBN Governor, on a number of crucial matters, including the Nigerian economy, the capital market, and the need for increased youth participation in politics and governance. Hon Nwulu was further commended for his dogged achievements in the House of Reps, especially for the success of the Not-Too-Young-To-Run act, which he initiated and championed to a victorious conclusion.

Over $2.2m (N800 million) was raised in pledges to build new school classrooms that will provide continuous education for an estimated under privileged and displaced children in the northern part of Nigeria over the next 5 years.

An auction of contemporary African Arts by Bonhams and Muraina also raised over $30,000 and €16,000 respectively that will go towards classrooms and student equipment.

It would also be recalled that Hon Nwulu was recently invited by the European Union Parliament situated in Brussels, to discuss the consolidation of the gains made so far for the Nigerian democracy. The Honourable, who’s currently seen as the candidate to beat for the Imo State 2019 guber, also seized the opportunity to engage the EU authorities and investors, on the investment opportunities in Imo State.

At the Access Bank Polo Tournament on Saturday , Hon. Nwulu was congratulated by his friends and associates for his recent adoption for the governorship election by the youths of the 27 local governments of Imo State. And before the tournament, Hon Nwulu also visited some Nigerian businesses in London and discussed with their owners on the possibilities coming home to invest. He took time to relax at the popular 280 Degrees African Restaurant, where he was received by his friend and the CEO, Mr Kachi.

Also, at the Tournament was Hon Jones Onyereri, Chairman House Of Reps Committee on Banking and Currency, who marked his birthday yesterday and other selected notable people.
