I just remembered mine, on my first visit to Abuja I got to the park with my mum after everything there was this guy beside me, my mum was trying to know if I was comfortable and all (Nigerian mum's and last born treatment sha) he asked if I was the only child I said no buh I was the last, he told me I should find a way to detach from my mum as soon as possible else I'll find it difficult in the future omo I provoke, I didn't talk again. while on the journey he apologized and told me his reasons and honestly he spoke the truth, while on the journey he was giving gist and telling how life of a police man has been and how he was almost robbed that same morning. first time journey I couldn't sleep buh he was having his naps. he told me I'll need it buh I just smiled. getting to Benin he got me something to eat, when we got to kogi he did same too so we kinda had a bound. when we got into Abuja I called my uncle that we just got in and he said I should get to the park first that he was on his way. the man asked me where was my uncle's place I told him lokogoma (hope I got it) he told me to drop at the junction and take a cab that it was gonna be cheaper, I told him my uncle said I should get to the park and call him. when I got to the park my uncle then told me to take a cab to his house I felt like crying. the man walked up to me again and asked me what was the problem I told him he started shouting that he told me to drop and I refused, baba change am for me oh, called a cab man priced him and told me to get in. paid the cab join. while on the way to my uncle's place the cab guy (an elderly man) asked if the person who paid for me was my relative I told him no, he then told me that if not for the man and how he described the place that he would have charged me higher. I got home safely buh I didn't even get the police man's name or number to thank him. we still got good people in the world/nigeria 13 Likes 2 Shares |

I think i should share this for awareness sake.. I was really hungry n i had nothing with me ,it was my guy that gave me #100 to get something to eat that evening. On my way to get some snack to keep body and soul,an old woman stop me (should b around 80+ old) that i should buy food for her. I was really touch bcuz i quickly remember that my mom was also around that age n i she might even b in similar situation. I already forgot abt my own hunger .I just used d money with me to get something for d woman which i know it was enough but that's all i av at that moment. I was really moved by that incident. I just pray God should answer my prayer so that i can take of my parent b4 she leave this earth. Moral: if you have any aged parent, try you best to take care of them n most importantly supply them with enough food materials. B4 people start throwing shade at me, am just a final yr student struggling to survive with the hope of a better . I'm sure my brothers are dn there best to take care our parent which might not be enough though. 9 Likes 2 Shares |

Missyetty:My thoughts exactly. But experiences like this help one identify the hidden character in some supposedly close people . Had a similar way experience as a child with a "close friend" and I used to press doorbell in the neighborhood and run away. It was fun then. On a fateful day, I neighbor that was close to her door unknowingly to us before we pressed the bell, caught up with us before we could cover much grounds as we fled. She knew it was one person that pressed it, and couldn't possibly be the both of us. She demanded to know who, and instantly my "friend pointed at me, saying it was me. I was puzzled as at the sudden twist of event and replied quickly that it was him. The argument went on and the woman was just looking at us with confusion. She knew I was a gentle child and won't lie cos my mum was known to be a dsciplinarian, but the seriousness inwhich my so called friend was accusing me, and even swearing with it got her bewildered. After a while, she muted us and said she was no longer interested in who the culprit was, but just want us to stop the habit of telling lies. We should tell he truth always and learn to face the consequences of our actions if we do wrong. She told us to read Acts 5:1-11 when we got home. That was my very first time reading the story and I was glad I did. Apologies for my "epistle" Cc:Hewrites 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Realhommie:I have not had a first hand experience too, but I have heard testimonies from close friends. I have a big bro that is in there top management with GTBANK, he narrated how he got the job. He had to sneak to Lag for his final interview from his prev job in Ogun state cos his boss won't free him. On getting to Obalende, his trouser tore really bad from the rear when he alighted from the bus as he bent. Cut the long story short,it was an hausa cobbler that used his shoe needle to patch the trouser for him that day. According to him, the man took him to a building when his fellow hausa man was a guard, and that one sneaked him into the office premises where he could remove his trouser while the cobbler mended it. After everything, they didn't collect a dime from him even when he offered them his widow's mite. He was a broke nigga them. He didn't know his way around then and so couldnt locate the said place years later. He narrated how he shed tears that very day, and how he can never forget the act of kindness Cc: Sirmuel1 6 Likes |

DrholuwaTOBI:I took my time to read this thread from there beginning to the last comment before my post.... The bolded portion got me thinking. It is really thought provoking. But in my own little way, I try my best to create ripple effects within my means both to strangers and know faces. I can't consume a whole water melon or juice, or bottle of wine all by myself.....not because I am not capable of doing so, but because I feel greedy afterwards and on the long run feel uncomfortable about it,been if it was bought with my hard earned money. It was actually imbibed into me by my mum who made sure each of the aforementioned items are shared within the family when available, and I got used to it. The satisfaction I get from consuming water melon for instance, is not in the quantity I ingested, but in joy expressee on the faces of whoevrs eats it with me. I will feel more satisfied if I have just one bite from a massive water melon that was shared with someone, than if I ate it all alone. Once read a post several years back that says.... A cup of coffee is sweeter when you buy a cup for a stranger. The extra sweetness is not in d coffee itself, but in the joy expressee as the stranger savors it. One gets more satisfaction generally when he helps someone that can neve reciprocate the same gesture, in terms of ability. I was pondering on the boldee part as it kept lingering in my heart till I got to work yesterday. A colleague broke an item (as she was alightingbfromea vehicle) she saved a lot of cash to acquire and literally cried. I had to give her N1,000 which was my widow's mite. She was really happy and act lightened her mood. It's not the value, but the act that make her less troubled, as she beamed with smiles. Apologies for my long post In all, it's good to be good, even to people that done deserve it 5 Likes 1 Share

Going through this precious trend, one thing struck me more than ever. it dawn on me that humanity is bigger than our differences. I saw in this trend an heartfelt help rendered by an Hausa, Igbo, Ebira, Yoruba etc, and it opened my eye to the truth that we are not different afterall. We are one in humanity, united by our often repressed nature of love. We are the same, we are a love being... 9 Likes |

Missyetty: HeWrites:Truth be told, since that very incident (I was barely 8 years old then), I had been very cautious round him.... I threaded carefully with him. Funny enough, his elder bro (about 4 years older than me)and I, are quite close till date. Though the "friend" and I never spoke of the incident till date, and I am 99.9% sure he won't have memories of the incident.... But I will try to discuss it wit him someday, and express my hurt Thanks to everyone that read through my typo errors... Autocorrect did a lot of mess, plus I lack the patience to read my write ups before posting. You all rock Cc: Sirmuel1, Missyetty, Hewrites, Preshdiva, Roomhommie, DrholuwaTOBI 3 Likes 1 Share |
