Should there be an age barrier in a relationship? 23 yrs diff is not much and i don't c any problems in marrying somebody much older as long as u both love each other. If the male party in a relationship is much older, he tends to be more experienced and understaning and the relationship i think, would be free of some hitches.

i'd be uncomfortable with the fact that a 53 year old man has never been married and has no kids, seems rather strange for a nigerian man. i guess if the woman loves him the age difference is not really a big deal. like deoz said, an older guy is likely to be more understanding and patient.
