there used to be elephants in ibusa delta state. chiefs were respected for the size of elephant tusks they carried.

if you were able to kill an elephant especially a large one you will be accorded lots of respect.

One of the reasons I hardly comment on NL is because of the number of myopic thinkers we have here.

Elephants have been and will always be a part of our nations heritage. In the south, they used to roam free and were hunted for their ivory which was used as a status symbol and for high priced ornaments.

What is strange about Elephants in Nigeria? We still have Elephants in Ondo state till today. They are in the forest between Idanre and Owo in Ondo state.

They have shot them for food to extinction now all their grandchildren can see is dead elephant pictures stupid black man .elephant is even scarce in your zoo when will Nigeria man or Biafra man all black man get sense

Yes there used to be elephant in abia state. My great grandfather is known as enyiofia. He was a great man though I didn't see him a person. My grandfather bfore he died told me a lot about his father. About elephants

Funny history wey no make sense. I mean elephants are not evasive and sneaky like lions, tigers, etc. so there is no bravery here especially with a weapon. No bravery and no cowardice here from my point of view.

After eating the elephant meat in 1966 they feel elephantised to fight in1967.

Thank God KANU didn't kill elephant.

Here's an interesting historic piece of how a wild elephant was killed by a brave hunter in 1966 after terrorising communities in Abia state. It was disclosed that the elephant was finally killed by hunter known as Okorie Nkata Emetu, who sat on the giant animal after slaying it - to show his prowess. 

The historic write-up and picture were shared Udumeze Ukwu. Read below; 

HISTORY OF A TERRORIST WILD ELEPHANT IN OHAFIA.

History is an important aspect of mans existence.

Around July 1966, there was an elephant that was terrorizing Asaga village and other surrounding villages in Ohafia.

This wild elephant became a nightmare to Ohafia as a whole to the extent that every community were sending their strong hunters to kill this satanic wild elephant.

One of the sons of Amaekpu Chief, The Ezeogo , Late Chief Nkata Emetu , called Okorie Nkata Emetu, was sent by the Ezeogo to hunt the wild elephant down.

On the 11th of July , 1966, Okorie Nkata Emetu shot and killed the elephant.

Peace returned to Asaga Village and the other surrounding villages as a result of the killing of the wild elephant.

The man sitting on top of the elephant is Okorie Nkata Emetu , the killer of the wild elephant.

This particular picture use to be in every home in Amaekpu.
