You simply cannot lump poverty and crime or vices in the same pot as a brew society must drink to. It is a false narrative my man. There are rich vandals, there are poor vandals. There are rich thieves, there are poor thieves. There are rich miscreants, as there are poor miscreants. The underlying factor is an atmosphere of responsibility or the lack of it that causes society to prosper or decay.

Sir , I am sorry to say but you are yet to travel . It is on record that there are more slums in rural areas than there are in urban centres. It is also a known that the rich do not dwell in rural areas ; they live in urban centres and when compared , the dirty dwellings of the poor outnumber the dirty dwellings of the rich .

Nothing is wrong with Nigerians. What the OP listed are the effects of bad policing. Situations where the citizenry are aware that their actions warrant certain circumstances, they would have no other choices than to comply with the intended rules or applicable laws.

Its a sad situation. We just seem to be averse to anything good. My lecturer asked us this question a long time ago. He said why is it that an excellent idea that has worked well in other nations seems to fail in this country right from the first day of inception. We had no answer then. For me I don't know if I should say the nation is under a curse cause we just cannot seem to get anything right. Even the ordinary citizens don't help matters in any way.
The sad part is that we glory in our self induced foolishness and never want to do anything right. Go to the north, east, west, and south its all the same story of apathy, greed, corruption, hatred, wickedness and selfishness. smh

Guy ehn I loose hope for this country when right under or next to a pedestrian bridge on Lekki-Epe Expressway and see people dashing across the road risking their lives night and day.

Like why will a sane person rather run that comfortably walk across to the other side

Just this morning I spent 2hours on Agege road going to ikeja. Mad traffic. Saw people passing one way and I was so annoyed. On my way back,the traffic was still there but not as bad as in the early hours.
One guy driving Toyota camry(evil spirit) tinted all over was speeding on our lane,flashing hazard light. I just parked on the road facing him and switched off my car.
He started abusing me,idiot,fool,move over. I didn't respond. People on the other side, in traffic,were telling me to let him pass. One man even said "Mr Governor, make he pass na".
3 hawkers left their sales and were begging to go on my way. I eventually left after 20mins. Passing by the guy, he called me bastard and spat at my car.

In all of this,nobody went to meet him to ask him to turn back. No one. Everybody was asking me to just let him pass.

We shout corruption every time but I put it to you that we are our own problem in this country.

Oga you are almost touching on the actual problem. Do you know that mo matter how much a Niggerian earns he will still steal. I went for a conference once in abuja. See how they were rushing snacks. The peole rushing these snacks were well placed people some of whom earn big money. Tell me what kind of poverty is that one suffering? That snack at most will not be up to 2k a man who earns something like 500 -800k a month will be rushing.

I swear to God I'm always surprised at such greediness. You'd think these people who fight over electoral campaign rice and few thousand naira are extremely poor. But no, they're just greedy. Most of them can afford those stuffs many times over.

Back then in school, when student union campaigners come around to lecture venues to share pens and cookies, students get into serious brawls struggling to get their share. These students you'd be amazed, have enough cash to purchase the 30 naira pens they're fighting over.

For the same reason you see these politicians not satisfied no matter how much they loot.

It's a catastrophic mentality that's never going to change any time soon.
