There must be something wrong with the sun that shines in my country shocked shocked

Saraki blaming GSM companies for kidnappings and not bringing in Technology to trace calls!!?  shocked shocked
He said no matter how hard we scream, Onovo can't do anything? ( he has a wee bit of point there though).

Although, countries with sensible leaders and security agencies were tracing calls on landlines before anyone dreamed up cell phone technology, Ours were chopping NITEL money then. Now they want to blame GSM companies for their own incompetence and greed?

Anyway Nigerian GSM companies have their work cut out for them. Since Saraki said screaming wont work, I'm prosposing these initial tasks for Nigerian GSM companies

1. GSM companies need to create a system that can disable the hand of a policeman anytime they stretch it out to demand/receive a bribe. (Egunje interceptor)

2. We need a GSM product that can magically fix all of Nigeria's criminal Laws, then dump them in our Policemen's brain so they don't abuse people's right. (Human rights Sim-card for dummies)

3. GSM companies need to create an app to fix all those pot-bellies our police Ogas carry around.

4. GSM companies need to immediately download more brain matter through cell phones so Saraki and other Governors and leaders can constantly think straight. (God knows we Nigerians need them to)

5. We need GSM companies to fix our centralized Police system so that a DPO in Ogwa-chiukwu or Ogbomosho will not have to take orders from Abuja before arresting a criminal. Surely, they can create an App for that.

Nairalanders!! You all need to help out here!!

If you have any novel idea on how GSM companies can fix the Nigerian Police service, even Nigeria herself, share it with us Please.

Note:  All contributions will be given equal attention, then forwarded to Saraki and other 35 state governors, President Goodluck Jonathan(we can also copy his FB page) and the National assembly.

Thank you!

The only thing we do best with our reesources is evil.Anything good, they say nigeria is not worth it,even those complaining do say that.

No bi nigeria,e no go work, they say.Why they think they don't deserve sanity nad uprightness is what baffles me.

[b]God bless you for speaking the truth!

You see, our people are creative thinkers but what kind of creative thinking do we do? We are creative negative thinkers that's what we do best. We are always thinking of how to take advantage of things, people and situations. We are opportunists, always on the look out for better chances and this is because, we are  highly ambitious but also very insatiable people - we never get enough!.

Yes, you can say that again, "The only thing we do best with our resources is evil". Once we have that resource and the power that goes with it, we use it to subdue, intimidate, control, maim and to some extreme ends kill without a blink of an eye yet, we forget there is judgement one day.  One only have to look at the state of the Country - decades have gone by since independence yet, Nigerians are still suffering and this has led to so many worms in the Can in this Country why, when we are so blessed?

Because of greed, corruption, lack of foresight, laziness and brainlessness (hey, my jargon!) of our useless leaders leading Nigerians into creative negative thinking on how to survive this imposed hardship by our leaders. Thus, we are good at nothing but creative negative thinking - and that's what we do best, period!

Don't mind the Nigeria Police, if to track N20 (Naira) in ones pocket, nomatter where it is hidden, they will track it. But to track crime, they cannot. If Policemen cannot be checked by the office of the Presidency, they will be aiding kidnapping in the South East

The gsm companies should work hand in hand with the nigerian police to fight kidnapping , first the gsm companies should start with registration of all sim cards, then work together with the police to track these numbers with gps in cases of kidnaping. Just like a poster said earlier, the position of the kidnappers can be tracked to a 100meter radius which is much better than searching a whole state  4 the kidnappers. And with  199 police men swaming a 100meter  radius and asking questions i bet you d kidnappers will be caught in no time.

Lastly the federal govt should make kidnapping a crime punnishable by death by firing squad in the villages of the guilty kidnappers and most importantly the kidnapers informants, and this should be shown on national tv 4 all to see, i bet you all that  kidnapping will reduce to its barest minimum. Nigerians fear death more than anything shocked shocked

Please the federal govt minister in charge of police affairs should fight for a law making it compulsory that every nigerian  police man,  under go high tech trianing/ courses every 2 years or face dismissal because most of our police men , dont even know why they are in that organisation. they think they are there just to collect 20naira bribes. angry

sim registration will not solve this problem. Are cars not registered and yet robbers still use cars to steal. From a story posted on this site, somebody narrated how kidnappers used the one of the victims phone to make contact. Sometimes, people just reason that these people are not educated or plain dumb. They are not, most of these criminals are smart and feel they can't work for peanuts. So the police should always strive to be ahead of them. In the developed countries psychologist are employed as cops and they are well paid.

Saraki should not heap all the blame on gsm companies, afterall some policemen are working in conjuction with these criminals

Thank heavens for someone that actually has a bit of an idea. wink, and has something sensible to contribute.

In most developed nations the government usually has to break the law to tap phones, and access cell phone data.
In most countries, especially the USA, cell phone users are guaranteed privacy of their telephone usage; not even government has de facto right to listen in on phone calls. To tap cell phones, you probably need to get a court order in most countries.

I can tell you a bit about the Nigeria situation. Usually the telcos do co-operate with law enforcement and provide call records including location. Like in the case of the kidnappings, the location of the kidnappers was due to cell phone location data released to the police. You won't find that in any newspaper.

However, the politicians in Nigeria routinely request to tap the phones of their girlfriends and their political enemies. Since we don't work for government, we politely ask them for a court injunction . . . and we never hear from them again. That's probably our man's aggro grin

the highlighted is what i am scared of - the nigerian police, sss etal have no internal controls and are mostly thugs who abuse the power vested in them . giving them this much power. . .

I ve read all d coments on dis forum, some make sense while others dont. I ve come to d conclusion dat 99.9% of we nigerians are dumb when it comes to reasoning. Why do we always jump in2 discussing resent problems nigeria is going through without solving d previous one? Today u will hear EFCC RAIDS NFA OFFICE we go to various forums like dis one, facebook, twitter and all sorts,we will argue, shout, insult those dat dnt share our opinions that will linger for a while, next we hear or read again IBORI PLACED UNDER HOUSE ARREST IN DUBIA. Here we go again, old habits nvr die. We ve suddenly forgotten d previous EFCC v NFA issue dat was onboard, without any logical conclusion,d kind of energy we put in strugling to post our opinionated coments on dis forum,if we apply d same zest in demanding for d right thing to be done in every aspects of our national lives, i guess Nigeria wld ve bin a better place today. Now it is GOV SARAKI'S DUMB & UNIFORMED IDEA dats been debated today, who knws what we will be debating tommorow? Moving in circles just like PINKY and d BRAIN d samething we do everyday. We wount join in ralies when calld upon by few well meaning nigerians to demand for justice & equity 4all bt will seat at d comforts of our homes and xpct miracles to happen.if we continue like dis,we will be heading back to d STATE OF NATURE WHERE LIFE WAS BRUTISH,NASTY & SHORT. Saraki is blaming telecom 2day,ystdy was declaring a state of emergency by SP dumb skull David Mark, nxt will be clueless GJ demanding 4a chng from ONOVO who is as blank & empty like SPACE. Its d telecom providers dat caused d senators to inflate d budget & milk us dry-dey shld ve trackd dat abi? Trackd d fight in hse of rep? Track d amt ibori paid 2dis same security agency dat helpd him flee 9ja with d navy, army, immigration, police all unable to apprehend him with stupid farida of EFCC unable to effect an arrest which RIBADU did with ease-Dey shld track president GJ silence over d matter abi?
