SolutionMee:This is a very wrong analysis. I doubt you're a science student. The questions one should ask are : 1. Are the active ingredients volatile? 2. Are the residues volatile? 3. Do the active ingredients get absorbed or adsorbed into the grains? 4. At what concentration would the active ingredients be potentially harzadous? PPT? PPM? PPB? It is only when these questions are answered SCIENTIFICALLY (which means a research must he carried out) that one can draw any conclusions about consuming products preserved using such means. 6 Likes |

inereunwa1:Please shut up! You don't know how the outside world works you just lay on your bed with your phone plugged to the charger close to you, log in to nairaland and form wise sage. Come back and say this when you are a farmer producing tons of beans or better go buy one very large bag of beans(50kg or so) and don't preserve it, or preserve it with your glorious "Alternative" option. Even the white men you worship use dichlovors(Sniper as we call it) to preserve their cereals. At the end the dosage or concentration is what matters. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Its used as an insecticide, used in agric a lot. I am more concerned about the dosage, that stuff should be applied appropriately in a controlled environment. Is it meant to be applied on the farm or products in storage? |

Corrinthians:All Chemicals are dangerous and hazardous and should be treated so. I had worked extensively on NOPEST in time past. It is an earlier brand in the market before Sniper. Both of them has the same active ingredient DDVP and are used for same purpose when mixed at a particular concentration as advised by the manufacturer before use. 4 Likes |

The other name for sniper is dichlovors which is a preservative for storing beans worldwide. I think its just some few years ago that the EU lifted it ban on importation of Nigerian beans. Initially, Nigerian beans was banned because the concentration of dichlovors was far above the standard used worldwide, which has health implication especially that of the GIT. But, seems we finally comply to the world standard concentration for storage. Please don't be misled but informed 4 Likes 1 Share |

inereunwa1:Like i said you are just an ignorant southerner who doesn't know how the world works and thinks he is smart just because he watch some Oyibo on TV. Even them use dichlovors(Sniper as we call it) for preservation of their cereals, The dosage is what matters and they have even lift the ban on our beans exportation because we have finally reach an acceptable dosage of your killer sniper. But here you are forming smart and intelligent and you don't even know any of your so called safer alternatives. Last last you go still buy beans wey them use dichlovors preserve unless you no wan chop beans again or even other cereals. I am sure it's your type that thinks Yam grows on trees. I won't waste precious time educating you again, That's not my job. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Idrismusty97:my friend just so you know doctor has advised me not to consume beans anymore maybe this is the reason that's why I am advocating for the ban on some dangerous chemical, imagine if I didn't heed my doctor's warning!!!!!! people die because of ignorance, they didn't knew that what they consumed is the chief reason for their demise because some people most especially you prefer money and more money more than human lives!!!!!!! |
Re: Traders Caught Mixing Sniper Insecticide With Beans (PHOTOS) by mfm04622: 1:40pm On Nov 08, 2018 |
SolutionMee: For your information, there are two good ways of preserving beans. One is to freeze it so that all the eggs die. This may be expensive and not feasible. The second way us VERY CHEAP and low technology! Just buy 2 thick nylons per bag of beans. The 2 bags will be put inside the bag, then you fill it up. Then tie the first nylon, making sure to expell as much air as you can. Then tie the second nylon also expelling air. Then tie the bag itself. The science behind this is to limit the oxygen in the beans. The eggs will hatch and start eating the beans but will die as soon as they use up the oxygen in the bag as no new oxygen will enter the bag. Simple and the beans is safe for human consumption. 1 Like |
