yes... they'll be forced to bow. they've done their worse . the FG wants to do its

Even when the Military went further by hounding and physically harassing ASUU members like Professor Sagay in Uniben using the then VC Professor Alele Williams, they eventually lost the war.

Prof. Sagay and his family were literally evicted and thrown into the streets from the Staff quarters and yet those who were persecuted prevailed.

If ASUU could dare the Military Junta who is Buhari that is even held hostage by the Aso Rock cabal to intimidate ASUU.

There is a level to administrative madness and the FG knows that.

Kogi State tried that and today most departments are totally dead.

You can't even win that in the court of law without incurring heavy damages. The FG can't dare try such and they know it.
Recently on Tuesday this week, the court ruled in favour of 2 UNILORIN ASUU excos who were unceremoniously sacked simply because they chose to fight for the system.

Go figure.
Am interested in Uni Ilorin ASUU. When will they join national? UNN were like them but now it seems they are the champion in strike.

Sometimes I blame ASUU when I read posts like this. One solution to this problem has always been to jerk up school fees. Someone has to fund the system, and if you folks don't want us to make government do it, then go ahead and pick up the slack.

Funny how you guys don't realize that government has already gotten away with murder at the secondary level. Today, public secondary schools are increasingly an option for only the poor. If you want qualitative secondary education for your kids, you know what to do. No strike, no tantrums, no name-calling or demonizing. If you're poor, you take your kids to podunk college, where their odds of ever seeing the 4 walls of a federal university become almost zero.

Someone wants to destroy public universities in a similar way. It's either government, or fools who don't realize what's at stake, or parents who don't want to pay for top education. ASUU won't let that happen (and you lot better hope ASUU doesn't just throw in the towel in disgust).

The irony is this: whatever happens, the lecturers are the ones who will suffer the least.

And, lest I forget, yeah, we're ready for no-work-no-pay. Bring it on.
Are you a lecturer?

You heard but have not seen the withdrawn statement.

So, the law stands.

There is a landmark case in court bordering on impersonation of ASUU in UNILORIN, the moment that is resolved by the court in favour of ASUU national, all parallel unions having the blessings of the University administration will be considered a criminal organization. And by that pronunciation, the ultimate dymystification of UNILORIN anti ASUU stance will be brutal.

The only challenge is the peculiar slow court processes in Nigeria.

Rubbish! Who can dare the strength of FG if it means to do anything? It is obvious that government is now taken for granted due to ignorance of the people. Change is the only permanent thing in life. If ASUU had it way years back, it may not be that lucky always.

Stay there and be shouting as if the FG are God's that can't be challenged. Even the ultra brutal Military junta were challenged by the citizens in the late eighties and early nineties

where in the world do they pay workers without working?

I no blame you sha, after the FG owe dem allowances of more than eight years, you still want them to owe salary. Your type will ruin this country if given a chance...

Pls, listen and learn

Universities aren't under IPPIS payroll system and therefore, the universities are given the salaries of staff to pay the staff.

Lol, universities are enrolled in gifmis. Its the predecessor to ippis.

Therefore they are not given the salary of staff. Its being paid from Abuja.

You and Warship are both correct grin. Though the Federal Universities are enrolled on the GIFMIS platform, their salaries aren't paid directly from Abuja. The school bursary department has to still process the salaries and upload it to the GIFMIS platform before payments are made.

There are just multiple layers of signatory to ensure accountability and transparency.

The truth be told is that ASUU should take a chill pill. It other recognized sectors are clamoring the way ASUU is always doing, the whole country would fail. What we have to first pursue is good governance and complete end of looting. That way there would be enough money to go around.
ASUU can keep going on strike like they are the only sector suffering..
Please other sectors are having it bad but till date they haven't gone on strike
NRC: our railway and trains is an eyesore for a country as blessed as Nigeria..
Airport: those who have been to Ghana recently by air would testify that Nigerian airport(all of them) is thrash compared to what they have in Accra
Road: bad roads everywhere for a country as blessed as Nigeria
Electricity: please I haven't seen light in my house for the past 3 months and I'm using prepaid meter
The list goes on and on.. University education is not the only suffering sector.. ASUU should chill and manage the little they have. Striking every year is becoming an eye sore and it's not effective anymorw

FYI I have no problem with ASUU making demands from the govt the only problem I have is the continual striking every year. It's not getting anywhere. And also pity the lives of the students and the present labor market conditions (5 years working experience and not older than 25).. my brother ASUU strike have turned 4yr courses to 6yrs excluding the 1yr to be wasted again doing NYSC..

If you look at it from the lecturer side who have nothing to lose.. they work they don't work they are getting paid, look at it from the student sides who are at the receiving ends of it. A lot of students have been home doing one thing or the other and if the strike is called off straight next time is exams. How do you think they would preform well?

They should adopt other means of negotiating with the government than striking.. Which day have you heard other African countries lecturer striking? It's a big shame and embarrassment on the part of Nigeria and the ASUU themselves. And it's not all the states that owing lecturers salary. Some states like Lagos State, Abuja and the rest are paying their lecturers well and getting their benefits

Please let them call of the strike and stop wasting the lives of the youth

The only language the government in Nigeria understands is strike. By all agreements ASUU where supposed to be on strike since February 28, 2018 after the government failed to keep their own end of the bargain as usual. they (ASUU) were patient by still trying to dialogue with the FG while the FG were busy playing games by showing recalcitrant attitudes with arranged meetings. ASUU wrote letters of reminders that went unanswered for months until recently when they knew the strike dance steps was getting strong. Why blame a Union for pressing their demands with a government with an acute tradition of not giving a damn!
For your African country reference, do you know there was a period Ghana institutions were on strike for over a year until when things were rectified by their political did the right thing . Can you compare the state of Ghana and Nigeria today. It is very easy to draw unparallel references like you just did.

Now let me challenge you with a little assignment. List ways through which ASUU and other labour unions in Nigeria can force the Nigerian government to do the right thing without going on strike?
