itsmayiela: Private LICENSED civilian ownership of single or double barreled shotguns, as well as bolt-action hunting rifles HAS been permitted in Nigeria for decades, BUT, there is a stipulation printed in those licences which forbids the use of such weapons for self-defence. This means that a homeowner who uses his duly licenced hunting shotgun to neutralize a home invader COULD be prosecuted for murder or manslaughter, even if that killing served its intended purpose of protecting the homeowner's family from rhape, robbery or murder by the invaders. It is that ridiculous, impractical firearm useage restriction that MUST be struck from Nigeria's lawbooks as a matter of extreme urgency. Furthermore, to level the playing field in a country where most armed gangs terrorize the innocent law abiding population with automatic weapons, it is essential that those law abiding citizens should ALSO be permitted to own CONCEALABLE semi-automatic pistols, and rapid-fire pump-action or semiautomatic shotguns EXPLICITLY for use in self-defence against home invasion gangs, highway bandits or career kidnappers. |

there some facts that need clearing up for some true ignoramuses, led by that mother-runt Okija. The attackers you fools so underate managed to Kill the driver of the vehicle and wound both the escort and the General before they approached. Now who then had the element of surprise? The General was already wounded and lying on the ground, not crouching behind the car like our circus clown Okija imagined. The General retired a Brig, and is a Lawyer. So he was in the Army Legal Services. Last i checked they don't hold Military Tribunals using guns. Okija my fellow, your posts are so silly I must have been really high to have reacted the way I did. I am a rtd Soldier myself, and I was also lucky have participated in the last two Jos crisis. The whole thing is so disorganized I tell you. Also the kind of training you imagine soldiers are given is the one you got off PS 2, upgrade to PS 3 and you see the difference, then you may call urself an expert in modern warfare with all confidence. |
Re: General Kills Kidnapper by Jakumo(m): 12:45pm On Aug 05, 2010 |
Good points Parnassuss. Even a person who may have expended thousands of rounds at the shooting range can become paralysed with fear in a REAL combat situation, once they start to feel the wake turbulence of incoming rounds, and the supersonic crack in the air around them from all those near misses. That is the point at which video-game Rambo theory gives way to blind panic in most mortals. The fact that this retired general, though already wounded and armed with a mere six-shot revolver, retained the presence of mind to confront SEVERAL desperadoes firing AK47 rifles fitted with 30-round capacity magazines, demonstrates the astonishing courage of that man, in the face of sheer terror that would force most people to instantly disarm and surrender. |

bibiking1: And who is the Neanderthal here, my dear friend? You arent talking Ganglang violence here, but combat that was held under U.N sanctioned Rules of Engagement, right? U slowpoke! You are talking of a TRAINED military officer (ur words) in a "gangland violence" situation. . . . HOW DID U EXPECT HIM TO REACT?!?! |

Jakumo: I think they are normally fitted with 45 rounds. |
Re: General Kills Kidnapper by Jakumo(m): 5:01pm On Aug 05, 2010 |
onye_ngbu: The maximum capacity of a standard(non-drum) AK47 magazine is 30 rounds, but to prevent magazine jams, it is advisable to limit the number of rounds to 28, so as not to fully compress the follower spring. To achieve rapid reloading of a second magazine, battle-front troops frequently tape TWO magazines together, head-to-tail, with a slight offset to allow clip insertion, such that when one clip empties, the taped pair can be flipped upside down to fit the second full banana clip for virtually uninterrupted firing until the entire 60 (or 56) rounds are spent, which can be a matter of seconds if the fire selector is set to full auto. Preparatory to sustained firefights, several such taped pairs are typically carried in pouches for quick and easy access. |

@parnassuss;honestly i thought you were a youngster when i read your 1st post directed at Okija-Juju and was shocked when you said you are a Rtd soldier. maybe you should read your first comment and imagine it being posted by someone else who says he's a Rtd soldier? that was pretty immature. You could have passed your message along without those dirty words. As a retired soldier,i guess you should be around 50 something right? If that's true;then something is wrong with you that you yet to discover, With all due respect please, |

Wow, this is interesting. Wishing the general a quick recovery and he should beef up security around his family. This shows that the country needs deliverance. |

Re: General Kills Kidnapper by Okijajuju1(m): 6:26pm On Aug 05, 2010 |
Parnassuss: No kid!!. They didnt kill the driver. Please get an education and learn how to read and understand what you read. Mr. Okoloagu said he managed to escape into the bush with his orderly in the confusion that followed, but regretted that his driver was critically wounded and is now in coma at a hospital. COMA!! Isnt death. Parnassuss: I wonder the kind of retards we have in our armed forces. Here is the original post once more. I will highlight the important parts for you, get someone who can interprete to explain it to you. He said that the kidnappers, after blocking his vehicle, started firing into the air while one of the armed hoodlums demobilised his vehicle by blasting the four tyres. The Enugu State born former officer said as one of them subsequently came to drag him out of his car. I will explain it in primary one standard, maybe you will understand it at that level. 1. They double-crossed his car. 2. They (the Kidnappers) came down from their vehicles and started shooting into the air. (Not at his car o!! Or at him) 3. One of the Kidnappers shoot out his 4 tyres. (Tyres o!! Not driver, not orderly not the General!! Tyres!!) 4. One of them then came around to bring him out of the vehicle. (So far, there hasnt been any shot fired at him, nor the occupants of the vehicle) 5. The kidnapper who comes to bring him out of the vehicle, lets his hand off the trigger (cos he wasnt expecting the General to be armed) 6. Now the uninjured general has the "ELEMENT OF SURPRISE" cos he has a gun the assailant isnt aware of, and lets off six shots. I hope I have explained it at a level your intellect can comprehend?! Parnassuss: Here is another post by a Nairalander who supposedly knows the said general very well. yeeparipa, He has been to Pakistan on training. He prolly passed through the Nigerian Defense Academy where weapons training is mandatory for both combatants and non-combatant soldiers. Child!! Please get an education, it would help you. Finally on the matter of the general, You would notice that all the injuries reported from this incident came only after he (the general) started firing his weapon. There is also a possibility that the casualties recorded in the vehicle might have been the result of friendly fire (shots from the general), and not bnecessarily those of the kidnappers. Thirdly, there isnt even any concrete evidence to show that his six shots actually hit or killed its target other than the words of the general. (Remember that there isnt even a body to show for his six shots other than his injured collegues and the police is yet to confirm his account of what actually happened). I suspect that the general might have even shot himself in the process, cos his testimony dosent show that he has mastery of how to use a weapon. I hope I have made this post clear for you to understand. Parnassuss: First of all Kid, I am not your fellow. I am head, shoulders higher than you would ever be in your miserable life. Secondly, I must appologise that my post appeared silly to you, when I put that post up, I was targeting an audience with a higher Intelligence quotient than you possess at the moment (or will ever attain in your entire life). Thirdly!! If you really are a Rtd soldier like you claim (which I severely doubt), then my best guess is you werent an officer (as your I.Q rating shows), which means you are no different from a thug with a gun. Parnassuss: Playstation 3!! Lol!! I had no idea that the pension of a soldier (who isnt even an officer) could afford a 15" television let alone video games. Nice!! I must applaude you. That round of applause was for exhibiting fooliness beyond and above the call of duty, sampling your incredibly high level of ignorance and for showing that your I.Q level isnt even close to that of a fifth grader. NOW who is the ermm. Wait let me quote you; Parnassuss: Parnassuss: Parnassuss: Parnassuss: WOW!! Thanks!! I had fun making you look like all the above ^^ mentioned adjective you so freely provided me with. Have a good life Sir. |

matiltom_d: Immature, ha! you're one to talk. Besides what kind of Army do you think Naija has, I've seen 19 yr old retirees. As for the dirty words, I tell you most solemnly that I held back on them. I'm a demon on a good day. Also imagine your friend been spoken about how Okija keeps speaking, just pissed me off. The man is almost family to me, i got sentimental. Okija_juju: |

Parnassuss: - Somebody please make him shut up already!! MODS!! Parnassuss: - ARGHH!! Im so scared!! Parnassuss: If he is so close to you, give him this message from me. He should count himself lucky to be alive. Using up all your bullets on one person isnt the smartest thing to do in a situation like that. The Nigerian Armed forces also regrets to inform him that he would not be getting any MEDAL OF HONOUR this time. Parnassuss: More hearsay!! Parnassuss: If a trained Girls scout team had been sent to kidnap that general relative of yours, best believe you and your family would be scrapping whatever is left of your pensions t pay his ransom. I doubt the Nigerian Army would waste its time, money nor personnel on a useless vet like him. Parnassuss: - Blah! Blah! Blah! I'm done with you. |

Okija, I've got to know, where do you get those smileys, do you make them? Maybe thats your job, oh come on men you've got to hook me up. make me one that shows a firing gun. Don't let me down now boy. just playing. Oh yeah, you didn't get the gist my last post did you, if you did you'd realize it wasn't meant for you, but pls feel free to infringe. Okija_juju: |

Thanks Okija_juju for the in-depth analysis to make it clear to some people, the risk he exposed his orderly and driver to by emptying all the bullets on one person. This has exposed how they get their medals |
Re: General Kills Kidnapper by DaddyO(m): 10:33am On Aug 06, 2010 |
The reaction of this general needs to be seen in the context of his familiarity with such situations. Has this man ever seen combat or even fired a weapon in anger in his entire life? As a legal type, I guess not. Someone mentioned that he's always chewing toothpicks. Perhaps from a habit of drinking fish peppersoup? Even a special ops soldier in a profesional army will freeze in similar situations, If combat experience is limited to basic training only. A soldier with combat experience - say the Iraq based troops, will certainly take much better control of violent situations like this. Overall, I have to say I would expect no more from most of our pepper soup generals. Their own is to show courage when taking on helpless, unarmed civilians! |

[size=14pt]How come both the orderly and driver did not have their own fire arms, we are talking of a General here and not some low cadre officer, at least there should have being 3 fire arms in that car. Can you imagin armed robber's stopping IBB, I know it is not comparable, IBB being an ex-President but then both men are rtr Generals in ther Army some other personnel should be doing their bidding not oga pulling out his pistol and finishing the job.
