No New Year Celebration, Special Prayers, Etc. by Rashduct4luv(m): 5:33am On Dec 28, 2018
Today is yawm Al-Jumua' [Friday] 20th Of Rabiu' at-Thaani 1440Hijriyyah. 20 - 04 -1440AH
28 - 12 - 2018CE

Remember to perform all the Sunnah deeds of Jumua' and may Allah accept it from us all.

Please refer to the former post on Birthdays, Christmas & Mawlid here:

https://www.nairaland.com/4905611/birthday-christmas-mawlid-celebration-light

Muslims just don't celebrate. We have a legal way of life in Islam.
The basic principle for a Muslim is to follow (the Sunnah) and not introduce innovations. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to mankind): ‘If you (really) love Allaah, then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Qur’aan and the Sunnah), Allaah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allaah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.’

32. Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): ‘Obey Allaah and the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم).” But if they turn away, then Allaah does not like the disbelievers’”

[Aal ‘Imraan 3:21, 32].

Ibn Katheer (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

This verse states that everyone who claims to love Allah but is not following the path of Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is lying in his claim unless he follows the path or religion of Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) in all his words and deeds, as it is proven in al-Saheeh that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever introduces an action that is not part of this matter of ours will have it rejected.”

Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 2/32

Celebration and supplication is part of worship in Islam. Muslims should find out the days and times when supplications are answered according to the ways of the Prophet (salallahu alayhi wasalam) instead of basing our hope on the crossover of a day to another day which has no proven specialty attached. Beware of charlatan clerics putting up posters for special new year transition Tahajjud prayers! Ask them where the Prophet (salallahu alayhi wasalam) whom we follow with regards to acts of worship did such prayers!

Some Muslims do not even know the Islamic calendar not to talk of the date! It shouldn't be only the 9th month of Islam (called Ramadan) that we have to focus on.

January 1, 2019 would be 24th Of Rabiu' at-Thaani 1440

i.e. 24 - 04 -1440AH =
01 - 01- 2019CE

We urge all Muslims to avoid innovations and imitations!
Say no to new year prayer/Tahajjud, celebration, greetings and food. We can take life decisions or change our life pattern anytime hence hinging such on the turn of a year has no specialty attached!

We urge all Muslims to train themselves and their families more on Aqeedah and may Allah Grant us understanding!

WHY DO YOU GREET "MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR"?

Some have asked why I greeted my Christians family and friends "merry Christmas and Happy New Year".

Some argued that even the Christians themselves are beginning to realize Dec.25th as a day where a particular Roman god used to be celebrated. Therefore, why reviving that?

Others argue that greeting the Christians is accepting their ideological beliefs.

MY GENERAL REPLY

First, Greetings has NOTHING to do with Iman (faith) or Ibadat (worship). It is only a courtesy which we can say, 'part of "akhlaq (morals)". And that I believe can go a long way in establishing good relationship with the society and change the fanatic way Islam and Muslims are being portrayed.

You can read a Sunni fatwa on greeting Christians during their festive seasons here:

https://www.nairaland.com/2061345/fatwa-muslims-congratulating-non-muslims-holidays

There is also al-Azhar's verdict online. And obviously there are other fatawa that condemned greetings of non-Muslims altogether.

Second, yes, it is debatable that the date (Dec. 25th) used to be day of worship of a particular Roman god. But this was changed and eradicated when the Roman emperor became Christian and paganism was destroyed, and Jesus birthday was substituted to that noted date instead. At the face value, this is more or less an acceptable transformation. It is however,  of no use for antagonists to keep on referring back to that story of Roman god.

Besides, if I may ask, which calender do you use? Gregorian calendar or Arabian (or Persian or Chinese or Bahai) calendar? If you as a Muslim uses the Gregorian calendar in your social activities and you did not point back to its pagan root (since that has been eradicated long time ago), then why do you feel disturbed when we say "Happy New Year" at the beginning of a new year? It has nothing to do with my faith or belief.

Second, it is very clear that Jesus was born and his day of birth was recognized by Allah in the Quran, and there is recommendation to remember such days among others.

When exactly was he born? Was it 25th of Dec or other date? There's controversy among historians. Whichever way it is, it doesn't matter. It does not in anyway reduce my belief and reverence for Prophet Eesa (Jesus Christ).

PROPHET PRAYED FOR A DEAD CHRISTIAN KING, NAJASHI

The king of the then Abyssinia, an-Najashi was a Christian. He gave the Muslims asylum when they were being prosecuted, and he treated them with all respect. Interestingly, Najashi remained Christian till he died.

When the Prophet of Islam heard about his death, he stood up and prayed for him.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah:

Said that the Messenger of Allah announced the death of An-Najashi, the ruler of Ethiopia, to them on the day that he died, and said "Pray for forgiveness for your brother."

# If Prophet is alive today, I'm afraid he will be condemned by today's fundamentalist who seem to know Islam more than the founder.

A sahabi also thought the Najashi the Prophet prayed for was not the Christian king grin In his thought, perhaps he deserved to be cursed.

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

Since celebrating new year and any other festive period make those celebrants happy. I often voluntary join them to celebrate with them irrespective of my religious believe. Happiness first before any shitty religion.

I just said what I said. Let's just live and let's let's live for one day we shall give account of our life and decisions we took during living. Happy holidays.

Very simple case. Give us an authentic evidence that he became Muslim at the end of his life. Lobatan.

Furthermore, Prophet also prayed salat mayyit for Munafiq (who is even worse). What people like you don't understand is such prayer does not put off their "bad or wrong" deeds.

Greetings on festive period shouldn't be an issue and a topic for argument in the first place, does the greetings hurt you or fellow people?

Wether it's ifa festival, Christmas, Sallah, New year etc we should create harmony in this period.

"Before he died, the Messenger of Allah (s) had written to Kisra, Ceasar, An-Najashi, and to every tyrant calling them to Allah. This An-Najashi is not the one that the Prophet (s) performed to the funeral Salat for."

Grade: Sahih (Darussalam)

We ask Anas ibn Malik to tell us which Najashi if he was not the Christian king of Abyssinia

Before you condemn all Christians, he's what's gonna happen on the day of Judgment:

 Surah Al-Maeda, Verse 118:

"If Thou shouldst chastise them, then surely they are Thy servants; and if Thou shouldst forgive them, then surely Thou art the Mighty, the Wise."

If you claim Christians are the ones being referred to in the verse you quoted in your last paragraph, why do the same people despise the word servants but prefer to be referred to as children of God?

grin grin grin People like you will faint when you read verses like the following in the Quran:

Surah Al-Maeda, Verse 5:

"This day (all) the good things are allowed to you; and the food of those who have been given the Book is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them; and the chaste from among the believing women and the chaste from among those who have been given the Book before you (are lawful for you);..."

Surah Al-Maeda, Verse 69:

Surely those who believe and those who are Jews and the Sabians and the Christians whoever believes in Allah and the last day and does good-- they shall have no fear nor shall they grieve."

Do I need to remind you that "people of the book" are Christians and Jews? grin grin grin
The verses are not new to me, except hypocrite like You whose intention is to deceive gullible Muslims. I believe in quranic verses. Just as clearly stated in the second verse you quoted, the condition is if they believe in Allah and the last day. No ambiguity about that.

Ha. The charges against the Christians are more and heavier than "servant or children" of God faah. Maidah: 118 came after Allah says He will question Prophet Eesa if he was the one that asked the Christians to be worshipping him and his mother. Try to read Maidah from 114 - 119.

As par Christians preferring to be called "children of God" rather than "servant of God", It is just in their understanding that they think one belittle them and the other more elevated. The wicked "Slave-master" relation of human beings is what they have misunderstood as "God, the Master" and his creatures (human beings), the slaves/servants. While they thought a "Father-Children" relation is more of love. No Christians in his/her right sense believed s/he is biological child of God.

Alhamdulillah you knew those verses.
Obviously they believe in Allah (God) and the last day. The only problem with them is in the attributes of God. Their case is different from those who rejected the existence of God and the last day altogether.

Which one is the lie? grin grin Is it the fact that NL MOOslimes were begging Christians to buy salah gifts for them, or the fact that MOOSlimes are the poorest and most wretched beings in this country and elsewhere?

You directly mentioned me begging for meat from Christians and I wasn't in that thread at all. Okunrin oniro, opuro! Any Muslim that begs for meat for 'Eid is either ignorant or gluttonous! is killing ram compulsory if one doesn't have the means? You are just here to detail the thread with your toxicity!
.
Muslims are poor and Jesus was rich right?

Dangote is poor and you are rich abi?

Dangote is a Christian and you are a Muslim, baa?

Please change your moniker from toxic man to sensible man! May you not die in the toxicity of your folly!

Unfortunately, the Christians do not believe in Allah, infact the word Allah is alien to most of them. They have to believe in Allah, the Quran and follow the teachings of the prophet of Islam, before they can earn the status of true servants of Allah.

In other words, the idolators who believe in existence of God but direct their worship to their idols (as intercessors) are true believers and servants of Allah?
