First and foremost if private companies are going to be responsible for building public infrastructure what's now the role of the govt?

1: It will encourage dereliction of duties by the govt as concerns infrastructure and opportunities for ministry head to loot their capital budget .. we made this same mistake with the police when governor's started buying equipment for the police thereby allowing the police loot all budget already assigned for this.

2 : It will be used as an avenue for smart tax evasion by a lot of companies who will connive with tax officials to overvalue projects and deduct such from their tax liabities , we will also see them connive and declare non existent projects all just to dodge tax.

3 : It will great a new line of corruption for tax officials and ministry of works supervisors who will use it to connive and enrich themselves

4: The quality of the roads will also be in question as we see dubious companies deliver very substandard road just to save cost and dupe the country of taxes .

As much as I place some value on your response I would like to state that in this administration, almost all the federal agencies and even those at the grassroot are scared of been caught in any corrupt practices, needless to mention the ministries so close to the Presidency. In regards corruption, that's not a problem. Your point 2 and 3 is handled.

Looking at point 1, from the detail of the signed order, the government is not leaving construction duties to the private sector. What the government is saying is that despite what we do from our end, you too can construct or maintain roads. Which I believe it's simply a part of the private sector responsibility in the first place.

Considering your last point, there's a standard for every federal road regardless of the construction company. They can't go less on any project.

Yes you are right but that i think is because of percentage some internals will get but as far as private company is concerned, before any project is awarded, thorough negotiation will be put in place that they may not even spend up to 2/3 of the amount F.G. will spend. However, who are the people receiving the projects contract? they will purposely inflate the price because it is government money. don't be surprised that rancor will soon emerge as regards this, even tax company will complain, no more loyalty settlement but they go scan F.G small oooo. it is a good move though.

Thank God some of us can see clearly. This is the end of all taxes in Nigeria. They will overvalue the road, pay off some FIRS ogas, allocate the contract to wives or kids, build road to third village and then run for House of Reps using tax credit project.
