Congratulations on you visa approval. God that did yours will surely do ours.
Please where did you have your interview? Lagos or Abuja?

I love your response to why this school?

Humphman:
Visa approved!!!
Lagos
PhD, fully funded... No deficit but I still went with my personal bank statement.
MSc 5.00/5.00 CGPA

Transcript (lengthy but I wanna share everything to enlighten us because I also learnt from ppl's extensive transcripts)

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning and happy new month (didn't care weda she heard or not)
VO: So where are you going to?
Me: I'm going to Bleep uni to continue my PhD studies in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry (I misplaced it but I was in control and didn't withdraw)
VO typed for some minutes and continues: so why this university?
Me: I chose (had to follow Fairheart's instructions to personalize) the university of... because of the work of Prof X on A and B. This is actually in line with my research which is on cancer and genetics having had an experience where my mum was almost a cancer patient (this is personal too and I know the Whites appeal to conscience. So I wanted to show them "intent"wink. When I reached out to Prof and we discussed on my research interest and previous publications, he accepted to give me a spot and be my thesis supervisor. He's currently my thesis supervisor (I emphasized it again).
VO: What's your highest degree?
Me: I have (personalized again) Masters in Biochemical Toxicology where I made the overall best grade.
VO: followed up... Do you have transcript to show for that?
Me: Yes I do... I presented it to her.
After going thru it, I presented my undergraduate award certificate as best student, and she said no, no problem.
VO: types for "eternity" and uttered those golden words... I intend approving your visa... Bla bla bla. Keep your I-20, etc etc. Go to the window at... and pay your reciprocity fee ☺

I NEVER underestimated the power of prayers.. I NEVER DID. My whole month of November was dedicated to praise and thanksgiving every midnight

Mr Fairheart really thought me how to personalize my response and I want to sincerely appreciate him. I had to modify my response and reach out in private chat and he'd give me his verdict. God bless you sir!!!

I printed out everything I can think of... Abstract of my publications (someone was asked if he has publications and he said no), transcripts undergrad and MSc, certificate of award, etc etc. I understood that they love evidence and not mere words and I'm grateful it paid off when I was asked for mine.

It wasn’t an email exchange, I booked an appointment for March 2021 and the requested emergency. I stated my program start date and mentioned that I made a commitment to the school to resume in spring, and I also made mention of the required orientation event that will hold 2 weeks to program start date. I attached i-20 and sevis receipt.
I am happy you're able to get an expedited interview appointment date. Congratulations.
Please, have you submitted your DS 160 form? Was it submitted prior to your request for emergency appointment?

And they could also read from previous posts that people are going for interview in the same lagos. Dates were available earlier last months and you still have option of sending a mail across to the embassy for expedited interview date (if I am right)
I doubt that option is functional.

My question is how many times can one cancel and reschedule an appointment with one singular visa payment?

Good evening all, there are available dates now for Abuja, and the first available appointment as at now is 2nd dec, 2020.
Please any news about appointment date Lagos consulate?

If it's Abuja, you can request for emergency appointment on your page don't forget to attach your sevis receipt and i-20. Although it may take up to #weeks but they will still reply either accepted or rejected
Best of luck
In case the request was rejected, what would the person have to do to secure a date before January?

Booked an interview sometimes in last week of September, when there were no dates in Lagos. So I got March 2021, applied for emergency interview and I got a reply last week that it has been approved, that I should go and reschedule the interview in my profile.
Please, how did you achieve this? Provide insight into your success with this process

I saw in on the page that Purpose of travel is to begin or resume a valid program of study in the United States within 60 days when no regular Visa appointment are available. I’m currently doing my masters online but the start date for Spring is Jan 10. Can I go ahead to Request for Emergency Appointment or wait till 60days to resumption?
So have you made the request for emergency appointment? Any response yet?

You do not need to fill another DS160 to switch your appointment venue provided your DS160 is alright. I interacted with a Consular who told me that. Just choose Abuja on the schedule appointment page. As for me, I will wait for Lagos because there is plan to consider F1 visa applicants as priority whenever they commence. This information was contained in the e-mail I received from them when I made the inquiry.
Best.
Please what email did you send your enquiries to?

Hello Guys,

I have been following this thread for quite a while now, and it has been highly informative for me. I am preparing for visa interview whenever the embassy give the green light for F1 interviews, and I will like a thorough review/criticism of my proposed transcript.

Please do not hesitate to raise further questions that I can also answer.

VO; Good morning, pass me your I-20
Me: Good morning, here it is (passing the document to the officer)

VO: what are you going to the US for?
Me: I'm going to earn a doctoral degree in Sport and Exercise Science, with emphasis on Biomechanics at the University of Northern Colorado (UNCO), Greeley.

VO: Why did you choose UNCO?
Me: UNCO has a highly regarded Sport and Exercise Science doctoral program that uses an interdisciplinary approach to prepare one for teaching, research and scientific writing. These are skills/competencies critical to take my career in the academia forward. Asides the top-notch biomechanics research facilities at UNCO, working with an outstanding mentor like Prof JS, in a nascent research area of postural stability among oncology patients will prepare me to standout in the competition for faculty appointments on my return to Nigeria. UNCO has a graduate faculty placement rate close to 100 percent. Additionally, I was offered a full time graduate teaching assistantship position that came with full tuition waiver, and a monthly stipend to upgrade my laboratory teaching skillset.

VO: How did you hear about the school?
Me: As a Biomechanics enthusiast, I follow happenings on an online Biomechanics forum called Biomech-l. It was on this platform that I read about Prof JS's research and the school. Following our email exchanges and conversations, he encouraged me to apply to the PhD program of his school built on personalized mentorship. This mentorship and interdisciplinary approach to research is what I have always wanted for my doctoral training.

VO: How many institutions did you apply to?
Me: I only applied to UNCO. Though I contacted Professors at University of Pittsburgh and University of Kentucky, I got no response from either.

VO: Did you write any exam.
Me: Yes, GRE. Test of English was waived for me on request, based on my academic and work history.

VO: What was your Test Score
Me: I scored 294; V-150 & Q-144

VO: what do you mean when you said work history?
Me: I have been lecturing at the Department of PT, of a state university for over three years now. I have also been involved in a number of research activities that as resulted in peer reviewed journal publications.

VO: What will your program be like?
Me: My PhD program at UNCO entails taking courses such a Biomechanics of Locomotion, Advanced Biomechanics, and undertaking supervised practicum in college Teaching. I expect to learn high-level research methods and technologies, in addition to professional standards in clinical practice and Biomechanics applications for cancer rehabilitation. The program will cover advanced statistics, research design, quantitative methods, laboratory techniques and computer-aided research.

VO: What will your responsibility be as a graduate assistant?
Me: I am expected to work 18 hours per week as an instructor of record for undergraduate students in the Biomechanics laboratory and also conduct research.

VO: What do you plan to do with your degree?
Me: I intend to return back to my lecturing position at the state university on a much improved appointment to the one I currently have. In collaboration with the faculty at UNCO and biomechanists around the world, I hope to setup a biomechanics research laboratory that would be focused on improving the quality of life of cancer survivors in Nigeria.

I am open to your reviews please.
Please I'm still expecting your review on this proposed transcript.

GTbank is “taking” Visa fee. I know quite a few people that have paid, and I’m paying for mine today too.

What I wouldn’t advise anyone to pay is the Sevis fee.
Why if I bay ask?
