tanigororo: All these property agents are fast becoming a nuisance, they charge almost 50% of rent almost doubling cost of rent, they lie, they determine rent making rent hard for end users, and the most annoying part they are not certified to be a property agent. Something somewhere will soon disrupt that business for them
Interesting how the impostors and gang members are always migrants from other states who come to Lagos to commit crimes and extort decent, law abiding people...while the indigenes are without blemish.
I suggest you take another look at the video. The stuff said in it is nothing new - its been common knowledge for years. The whole NURTW thing in Lagos is a well organized, well oiled protection racket - and also a state approved extortion ring. It has been this way for decades. Nothing new there. It simply isn't true to claim the problem is people from other states.
^^^ But you know who to direct this recommendation to, don't you? You think they don't know what to do?
If the powers that be want the inefficiency and the leakages to stop this very minute, they will. But the powers don't want it to stop - because they profit from it. They persist with this rotten, foul system and at the same time continue with the evil propaganda of Lagos as a mega city etc. etc. The daily ticket issued to a driver reads N200 and yet he actually pays N1800 or N2000 each day. What happened to the rest of the money? NURTW pays SARS, OP MESA, and NPF operatives - what exactly are these payments? NURTW pays the LASG - how much exactly and is this money documented?
Paulayor: those guys are in charge of running the country. and they make lots of money too. the guy wearing facecap said that he pays police, sars, frsc and op mesa from ticket money. na wa oh
When Bayo bought a commercial tricycle, he had no idea what he was getting into.
Before he could put the vehicle on the road, he had to get approval from a unit, an axis, a zone, local government and state.
He had to pay tickets daily and marker costs with each trip. His life became a living hell. What he didn't know was that the NURTw mafia even had people who were extorting them also.
Below, Bayo and his colleagues debate NURTw officials on how much they collect, and what it is used for.
thesicilian: Once you pay and move into the house forget about the outstanding electricity bill, they'll never pay it. The best way to deal with them is by paying them back in their own coin. Involve the Nepa officials, police and lawyer. So everything will be on record. Then clear the bills and enjoy your light. If there's no refund before you leave accumulate your own debt in any way you deem fit. It will be difficult for the landlady to throw you out if you've involved the officials ab initio.
Pls nairalanders, A friend of mine needs genuine and sincere solution. Here's her problem:
She and her hubby moved into a new apartment last year September. The place was under going reconstruction when they paid and the agent told them within three weeks it will be completed.
NB: they searched for a place for months before they found this one and due to that they didn't want to renew their rent in the old place, they had to move out. After 3weeks the place had not been finished and the agent started telling us stories even the flat had outstanding bill of which he told us he was on his way to pay.
Their fault was that they believed him as a very close friend of ours directed us to the place). They forceful moved into the place to avoid stories that touches the heart although by then my friend had started requesting they gave them back their money, of which was futile.
Up until now, this people haven't paid the outstanding bill of 261k. Prepaid meter has been brought and immediately the unit given finishes my friend and her hubby are in darkness.
I am concerned because she is due to deliver soon and might need the light seriously. We are hearing that the landlady abandoned the building and so tenants don't pay rent and she will ask them to leave without paying up, although before they moved in, I had helped them ask around. The insincere neighbors said the landlady doesn't have any problem but now we hear stories about her.
The light issue isn't peculiar to my friends apartment alone, as two more people have paid but one hasn't moved in since Nov cos of the light issue and they don't want to pay them back their money. I feel guilty b cause I was involved in helping them move in
