It was a traffic scene that featured a Fire Service Vehicle.

Ostensibly, It was on an emergency run.

Its lights were flickering and the siren blaring.

Yet, it somehow succeeded in being stuck in a traffic gridlock along the Surulere Industrial Road/Adeniyi Jones road in Ikeja.

No motorist on that route seemed the least interested in giving way for the emergency vehicle to pass.

Sadly, the time was around 8 am, on a Monday morning – one of the most notorious rush hour periods in Lagos state.

For all we know, the Fire service truck could have been racing to a building that is being consumed by inferno.

The emergency vehicle was eventually left with no choice but to exercise patience and then go with the traffic flow.

This begs the salient question: why do we find it difficult to spare a minute to grant emergency vehicles access in traffic?

Are we that much in a hurry to get to our destinations in Lagos?

Or could it be distrust because of often abuse of such privileges by emergency workers?

If their siren is on, drivers definitely make way for them.

Asides that, if the siren is on, they could take an abnormal route and not get locked in an holdup .
Any emergency driver that follows a traffic slowly ought to lose his job asap

That’s unfortunate, you need to see the way people part like the Red Sea over here when they hear or see any emergency vehicle

This is one thing about Nigerians.
We never bow out when ovation is high.
We stay long enough till our shine burns out.
OP has made front page repeatedly this week.
Rather than call it a day, he has started creating senseless topics.
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t give way to emergency vehicles.
Once me and others I know hear a siren, we clear from the road.
If this debate was true no one for gree make police harass us for road.
Them go siddon the same traffic we dey till thy kingdom come.

Because most of the time there is no emergency in the the emergency vehicle. Some just wan use it beat traffic and only to end up parking in front of ashaw0 joint to do short time or park at Iya Shukurat kiosk just to buy shekpe and smoke jedi/Rothmans and weed.

So if you dey my back dey blow wow wow wow wow, you go blow tire because i ain't giving up my space to anyone faking emergency... we die there.

It is due to lack of proper education and training in every aspect of our life, especially in road etiquette.

It's simple. Majority of them form emergency whereas there is none. Besides, everybody wants to get home timely.
