You should know gubernatorial election in Kaduna is more important than presidential.

Please compare the results of presidential and gubernatorial elections in Kano, Kaduna and Katsina before you comment. You may want to exclude Kano cos of Gandollar's scandal. Besides, gubernatorial elections are a different kettle of fish. Northern guys are more sophisticated when it comes to elections. They don't vote parties blindly. Rather, they vote candidates. That is why Ganduje aka Gandollar will likely lose Kano even though APC won the presidential elections in the state.

The voter turn out for this election was way less than that of the presidential election. Some PU's actually had periods where all the available voters had voted and they were waiting for new people to come and vote. I wasn't expecting up to 1m total votes and these people have gone and counted 1.8m. Even more than the total for the presidential election despite the low turn out. Congrats to El Rufai anyway for outrigging Kudan.

The voters apathy was very obvious to say the least, it was various TV and radio stations.

The reason was mostly linked to the lost of fate in the electoral procedure of Nigeria since their preferred candidate lost.

For instance my polling unit has a total of 602 for PDP and 16 for APC for the presidential election (I actually voted for APC here), but compare to the 456 for PDP and 8 for APC in the gubernatorial election.

I saw on a thread where you clearly indicated an indifference with El Rufai choice of a Muslim Muslim ticket, believing since it is not in the constitution it has nothing to do with anything. The zoning that is recorded from the parties in presidential election; what do you have to say about that? It is more of a unity thing.

I believe you are in kaduna, and you know that religion matter alot here, can you convince why you think that religion is no longer determinant factor in kaduna politics and social economic issues.

Fortunately some people in the North are wiser than people in the South, in that we vote individuals and not parties wholesale.

The fact is, whether PDP or APC at the national level, the North was not really losing if we go by the current sentiments of politics.

Same for kaduna, where both contestants are muslims.


So we vote for individuals....we dont care their parties. In Katsina PMB lost one NASS seat in his PU.

This should be a lesson to all. Parties are largely interchangeable and hence the cross-carpeting.

The day we vote party lines is the day the parties actually stand for something.

Buhari is revered in many areas of the North. Most voters there will vote Buhari for presidency and then make their own choices about who to vote for governorship and senate. It is not uncommon to see PDP candidates campaign with Buhari’s photos.

PDP was floored in Kano, Katsina and Kaduna because the average northern voter would never have picked an atiku over a Buhari. Perceived integrity is key there, which is why Ganduje, a sitting Governor, is facing the battle of his life to remain in power.
