Messi is 23 yrs old Vela is less than 2 yrs younger. Where messi was 2 yrs ago, Vela cant be there in the near future. 2 yrs ago, Messi was Ballon D or runner up, Vela? Even Sanni Emmanuel, Dominic Adiyiah excelled at youth level. Vela to become Messi, Wilshere to become Messi, Almunia to become Messi, Even WenGAY to become Messi, Soon una go turn to Messi United or Menses FC |

Vela has potential to be Hernan Crespo maybe, or he is/could be like Guiseppe Rossi at Villareal. He can never be Messi. An irredeemable buffoon of questionable gene pool suggested that Velas performance of U-17 World Cup was akin to Messis performances at the start of his career. Such irredentists would be embarassed to learn that Ronaldinho already hailed Messi as the best player at Barca even before he had made his debut. The day Messi made his debut, the likes of Ronaldinho and Xavi stood in awe applauding a delectable piece of skill executed by Messi. Messi was never potential. He was instantly the best player in his team the minute he made his debut, a feat seen in other greats such as Pele, Ronaldo and Maradona. Both he who compared Vela's performance at youth level to Messi and he who claimed Vela has Messi potential are nitwits. It would be a compliment to compare such nincompoops to chimpanzees cos even chimpanzees have the ability to learn. |

Ibime: Are you indirectly calling Debosky and his fellow gaynners nitwits? |
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by slimshay(m): 4:49pm On Sep 16, 2010 |
Actually ibime, you are right. Messi had been playing with his father's balls since he was a sperm. He didn't need to learn s#!t. Seriously I coulda sworn there was a Barcaloanus thread somwhere on nairaland for all you grown men willing for the young man's willy. Yeah that's right, run along now. |

It is of no consequence to us if Gaynners continue to wallow in collective self delusion and spurn all wise counsel. Adeballz and Duduface will still be here to argue same points after another failed season. DK, abeg where is Saurons infamous chart of a typical Arsenal season? Abeg post am for dem. |

Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by ritchboy(m): 5:41pm On Sep 16, 2010 |
hehehe, what did i miss? Ibime, name as many players as you can you think have the potential to be as good as Messi OR COME CLOSE. others are also welcome to participate |
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by dayokanu(m): 5:43pm On Sep 16, 2010 |
I dont see Vela being anywhere close to Crespo. Crespo was highest goal scorer in Serie A for 2001, Do you think Vela can be highest goal scorer in any league? Even if na monkey post. Crespo has over 300 career goals, Do you think Vela can make that? He would be lucky to make half that. Crespo is a poacher and very good with the head, Vela is just like a rabbit who runs around without a purpose maybe he might be close to Pius Ikedia, Karimu Shuaibu, Haruna Babangida, Cuatehmoc Blanco, Lua Lua Tresor lomana, Lokondo Mpenza, Crespo for where? Bros abeg cool down |

Ibime: Oh, are you a catholic? it seems your creed is "As it was in the beginning, it is now and ever shall be world without end" but hold on, I remember a time Arsenal won at least 1 major trophy every year. So because we have been arguing this points for the past 5 years, that means we'll still be arguing it next year? Go tell that to the lot on the Liverpool thread, it might make them feel better with their situation, it is doing nothing for us, history is rewritten every day, infact every second so we won't let past failures hang on our necks. |

ritchboy: Carlos vela, Jack Wilshere, Gilles Sunu, Mike Randalls, Nordvelt, Lansbury, Almunia, Fabregas, Henry, WenGAY, SolCampbell, Wankott, Usmanov, Aliko Dangote, Owusu Abeyie, Arturo Lupoli, Diaby, Djourou, Karbasiyoon even Emirate stadium all have the potential to be Messi |
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by HNIC(m): 5:55pm On Sep 16, 2010 |
ritchboy:Bros, You didn't miss anything. Just some nitwits debating your statement about Vela having the potential to become a Messi one day. You have tried explaning the meaning of potential to them, but obviously when it comes to Arsenal issues, their fingers move on the keyboard faster than their brain can assimilate. |

Arsenal's Season Foreseen * After yet another trophyless season, Arsene Wenger tells Arsenal fans that he has spotted the problems in the side and will regulate them in the transfer market. * One month after making these comments, and with no one still signed, the apologists begin by claiming that 'Arsene needs to wait for the World Cup to finish' before signing anyone. * Apologists then come to the realisation that the 15 year olds Wenger intends on signing aren't at the World Cup, since Burundi, Burkina Faso and Zamunda aren't taking part. * Chamakh comes in on a free. He adds firepower to 'new signings' Eduardo, RVP and Vela (all back from injury of course). * The World Cup finishes and still no sign of a top defender, top midfielder or top striker. Wenger apologists then claim that Arsene is 'waiting for Godot'. * A week later, Wenger bemoans the inflated nature of the transfer market. * Almunia gets a job waitering at the Ivy and Fabianski is hailed as the new Lev Yashin. * With 2 weeks to go until the start of the season, and still no sign of further additions, Wenger picks up a turd from Hampstead heath and puts it in the squad. * One day after watching the turd in training, Wenger insists that 'he cannot find anything better than what he currently has'. * Arsene's cult agree. Some random 'diehard' claims that anyone criticising Wenger's decision to sign the turd should 'go and support Chelski or Citeh'. If Wenger has seen the turd in training then he Knows best. * The season begins. Arsenal destroy Ebbsfleet 15-1 on the opening day, with the turd even getting in on the act.(Substitute with Braga) * Cue riotous celebrations. 'Arsene Knows' and 'the turd has proved his critics wrong'. * Turd is given a massive contract extension and bumper pay rise the following day. * With one week to go until transfer window close, Wenger with the 60 million profit from the Fabregas sale has Still found no one. Arsenal are top of the league by alphabetical order mind, so why would he need anyone else? * Transfer window slams shut. Only then does Wenger reveal he was 'very close' to signing Lio Messi, David Villa, Whitney Houston and Robert Mugabe. * Arsenal surge to a great run and are top on new year's day! * Wenger goes on to throw the FA Cup. Range of deluded apologists defend this disgraceful decision. * In the following weeks, Arsenal play Man United. Despite 100% possession, Arsenal have no shots on goal and lose 5-0 at home to Man United's 3 shots ongoal (plus a Denilson + Fabianski og). * Random Arsenal player gives a loudmouth interview claiming 'we will learn from this'. * Two days later, Arsenal go to Stamford Bridge and only manage 80% possession. Didier scores a hat-trick inside 15 minutes. * The Chelsea back-line and keeper decide to sunbathe for the rest of the match, safe in the knowledge that Arsenal will play one thousand pretty passes in front of the D, without anyone actually shooting. * Wenger gives post-match interview, furious about Chelsea's 'anti-football' and disgusted that Ancelotti has invented a new on-field collective known as a 'defence'. * Wenger is even more disgusted at the 6 foot plus fella on the nets preventing the ball going in. Arsene had always thought that bloke's job was to pick the ball out of the net once it had gone in? * Robin Van Persie injures himself doing the moonwalk. Out for the season.(This has already happened) * Rosicky injures himself eating a Krispy Kreme, Out for '4-6 weeks'. Ends up being out for a decade. * Arsenal fans claim that 'with a fit Rosicky and RVP' that the UK would definitely have won the Eurovision song contest. * Now out of the league cup, FA Cup and title race, Arsene Wenger claims that these 3 competitions don't matter, and that only the CL does. * After his kids have their undies pulled down my Man United in the CL yet again, AW claims he has discovered a new mathematical theory whereby third place is actually superior to first. * Arsenal fans happily digest this and serenade Wenger, who is offered a contract for life. Repeat to fade. http://www.football365.com/mailbox/story/0,17033,8744_5927815,00.html |

dayokanu: this is just a pathetic attempt to avoid making urself look an even bigger idi0t than u already do. Since all you mor0ns have concluded Vela will never be or even come anywhere near as good as Messi, i challenge you to name these sacred players who have the POTENTIAL to come close to Messi. This is the part y'all start running for cover. . . Wait a minute, did i just hear someone say Ozil? I laugh in php |
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by debosky(m): 6:04pm On Sep 16, 2010 |
Ibime: All that high- falutin nonsense you posted, you still cannot change the reality that: Messi won the golden boot at FIFA youth championship in 2005 Vela won the golden boot at FIFA U-17 championship in 2005 Those are comparable performances which you cannot discountenance. It is the height of foolishness to claim Messi was never potential - was he playing for Barca's team the minute he was ejected from his father's vas deferens? Immutable stupidity has become the watchword of chavs on this thread - your asinine and vacuous arguments have shown you have no sense at all.
Worse than a nincompoop is what you are - an educated fool. Messi and Vela have had different paths - one grew up under the tutelage of the greatest football academy in the world at La Masia, while another developed in the back streets of Guadalajara. There will clearly be a divergence in their rates of development. However, to claim that they could possess similar levels of potential is not out of place given their relative performances at youth level. |

dayokanu: Edit: Arsene signs 2 players before the WC ends.
Edit: Arsene signs Squillaci the veteran French defender with titles and cups from two different leagues to the Arsenal side.
Edit: Arsene brings Jack Wilshere back to the club on loan, and he proceeds to dominate a CL game spraying exquisite passes and even backheeling an assist with his standing leg. Edit: Wenger restores Theo Walcott to the first team and he proceeds to score the first hat-trick of the season at the Emirates. Some muppets claim Chamakh is not a 'top striker' and can never score 15 goals. . . .yet he's scored in each home game so far (3) and we're only in September.
Edit: Fabregas stays and goes 'assist-crazy'. 5 in two games. He declares he's just as committed and happy as ever. Haters and enemies start jumping off the cliff in massive numbers, or visit the pope's mass at Edinburgh asking for salvation. Leave the rest for now and we'll see. Gunner 1965 |

When you begin to hear voices then there should be a justified cause for concern Definition of DELUSION 1: the act of deluding : the state of being deluded 2a : something that is falsely or delusively believed or propagated Soon you would claim you heard someone mention Papiluwe and Zebrudaya |

dayokanu: Your point being? Again, if you lack comprehension, having potential is not synonymous with realising potential. If a comment was made stating that Vela WILL be as good as Messi or be close, then you can come here posting trash. However, in the absence of that, you have provided nothing to show that the assertion is incorrect. |
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by ritchboy(m): 6:17pm On Sep 16, 2010 |
Debosky, according to Ibime, Messi was already the best player in the world as at 24 June 1987(the day he was born) since he was "never potential" I'm still waiting for him and his gang of half-wits to come and tell us the players that have the potential to be as good as Messi, though i'm probably waiting in vain. dayokanu: if simple sarcasm is too much for you to comprehend, go and get an adult education. Tell us the players with messi-like potential and stop yarning nonsense. |

Its a shame that fans of questionable affiliation have chosen to obfuscate facts in defence of an indefensible position. One cannot feign surprise that these intransmutable idiots had forgotten that Giovanni Dos Santos was by far the best player at the aforementioned U-17 WC. If Vela is Messi, then who is Dos Santos? Maradona? A punk of wavering disposition claimed that Wenger had frittered away Velas potential by deploying him on the wing. If such decisions were the bane of his footballing progress, Messi should be kicking his heels on the bench decrying Rijkaards decision to also play him on the wing and providing a litany of excuses comparable to those trotted out as causative of Velas stunted progress. One cannot feign surprise that other nincompoops of Arsenal persuasion have sought to paint my previous statements as meaning that footballers are born great and do not grow into greatness. Whilst a lot can be said for the intransmutability of genius, this is a patently false depiction of my argument. However, I will have these nincompoops know that the ability to control the ball at highest speed, flicking between feet (as exhibited by Messi and Maradona in particular) is a skill that no other footballer known to us today can emulate, even with 100 hours practice per week. This is touch which must be honed from childhood and must be evident on debut. It is this dame natural touch which Messi exhibited in 2005 which forms the bedrock of his play. These are not skills you learn such as stepovers etc exhibited by the likes of Ronaldo. If you don't have this quick feet touch by age 16, you will never have it. I can speak with authority on this issue, having mastered this touch myself. |

Ibime: Why are you now suddenly sounding like someone with a messianic complex? Have you been discussing with Apostle King in Jail recently? So in the history of man, its only Maradona, Messi and your Humble self who have this touch? What a holy Trinity. |
