This saying should sound familiar in the ears of those who are acquainted with the teachings of Jesus, only that it has been tweaked in a certain way to convey a similar meaning, but from a different angle.

For this was what Jesus actually said:

Mark 10:6-9 (KJV)

6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

So the difference is that this saying of Jesus was in the respect of divorce concerning what God has joined together, while the other one in the thread title is in the respect of homosexuality which God has put asunder.

But both sayings correspond with the saying of Jesus concerning how God made it to be in the beginning of Creation, which was male and female. So that is already established as far as gender is concerned.

But then it didn't stop there but goes further to prove that God didn't make it to be males and female, or male and females, but male and female, in other words marriage with respect to how God made it to be in the beginning, was that one male should cleave to one female so that they two would not just become but remain one flesh, and hence never divorce to become two again, because according to Jesus, it was the way that God had joined them together in the beginning of Creation, so let not man put asunder.

So Jesus had gone through all that trouble to explain how divorce was never in God's plan when He first made them male and female in the beginning, so male and male, or female and female, does not even come into the equation, for God had joined male and female together but put male and male or female and female asunder.

And this was integrated into God's physical composition of a male and female body, so that by marriage they would become one flesh, and the proof of their being joined together is in the ability for their marriage to produce fruits.

But that can never happen when a man and man or woman and woman marry, for their body composition is in a way that they can never be one flesh, but they'd always be two, because God has not joined them together but put them asunder, and the proof of that is in the inability for their marriage to produce any fruits.

So any one who tries to join together what God had put asunder in the beginning would not just be going contrary to the way God had intended for it to be in the beginning but would be turning it upside down and causing serious confusion to that extent.

That's why homosexuality is such a grievous and abominable sin in the sight of God, for man is joining together what God his Creator has put asunder.
