ea7: Since Madara is about to be removed from
the story, it’s understandable that he’s being
given the chance to show off his greatest
technique. Sadly, however impressively
powerful Perfect Susanoo is, it continues the
disturbing trend of diminishing the power
of the Kages. Madara himself is just as
conflicting, too, which is unfortunate since
some of his boasting is actually enjoyable.
A good line delivered in a disappointing
situation
However, the novelty of that line is quickly
lost when he reveals that he’s been holding
back his full strength. This is another
example of the crucial strength of the Kages
being trivialized, which does irreparable
damage to the overall series. Furthermore,
the metaphor Madara uses to explain his
comparative strength is awkward at best;
an adult would have no reason to fight a
pebble. Madara’s logic is sound, but he
chooses the wrong term to emphasize the
Kages’ relative insignificance. Even a trite
comparison to ants would have been better
than this.
In a completely unsurprising turn, Sasuke
has become more pathetic than ever.
Centering this entire arc around his reunion
with Itachi has given him multiple
opportunities to see the error of his ways,
something which he has steadfastly refused
to do. For Sasuke to snub reason like this
was bad enough over the last several years,
but doing so after being confronted with
the truth from Itachi, the very character for
whom Sasuke idiotically sought revenge, is
nonsensical. By reestablishing his
determination to Itachi, Sasuke is effectively
brought full circle back to his state before
this arc began. Such a refusal to evolve
renders everything that happened with
Itachi and Kabuto meaningless, since
Kishimoto has made it clear that Sasuke is
far more important than other characters.
In other words, "everything you have done
has been a waste of time"
The chapter makes other significant
mistakes, most notably in its portrayal of
Naruto, the protagonist of the series, as a
side character, simply because he isn’t
involved in all the Uchiha drivel. Also, Edo
Tensei might finally be ending, but the
chapter leaves little reason to celebrate.
While it’s not quite over yet, the entire
Shinobi War has been awful, with only
Naruto meeting his parents standing out as
a moment of true quality over the last few
years. Aside from that, the entire balance of
power in Naruto has been forever changed
by yet another Uchiha, and the series’ last
hope for a quality post-Orochimaru villain
self-destructed in the most pitiful way
imaginable.
At the end of this chunk of Uchiha plot, the
series is right back where it started, with
Sasuke stealing the spotlight from any and
all other story lines the series has to offer, all
of which are better than his laughable quest
for vengeance. By finally crushing the hope
that Sasuke might ever change, which was
distinctly possible after his initial meeting
with Itachi in this arc, this chapter cements
Sasuke as one of the worst characters in
manga.
Final Flash: An absence next week is just
what this series needs. After that, the focus
must return to Naruto’s fight with Tobi,
which can’t possibly make up for this past
arc, but could still be interesting.

Lol, I can't believe I'm just seeing this just now! Wicked analysis and whilst I'm totally with u on the pointlessness of playing on the Sasuke quest I can't say I agree with ur assessment of the kages using the Madara 2.0 scale. I'm not here to say they are stronger than u think, in fact they are the weakest bunch ever assembled as far as I can see. The Akatsuki would fare better than the kages have, what u seem to take for granted is just how special Madara is. The 2nd Hokage would prolly match all 5 present here and stand, but he got no mention from Ara. The only people that matter to Ara are the SoSP and Hashirama, whilst the only Bijuu worthy his time is the Kyuubi. Ara is not on 'another level' he is on ANOTHER PLANET compared to the rest. Presently there aren't 4 fighters to match him in Narutoverse, not even naruto AND Kurama should take him down but he might stand him. Bee, Sasuke and even Kabuto would be fodder.

Presently there are some many other paths that the Naruto story might take to better the situation but the sensitive tale of bromance is too stale and poorly executed to carry through any longer.

Parnassuss: The Leaf has no reputable Kage candidate save Naruto and that's a sad drag. This is basically what I lamented some posts back, at this point Asuma would be a candidate. But I'm hoping one of Namikaze's ex-guards or even an 'Aoba class' jounin ups his game at this point. Theoretically the Kage title should fall directly onto Yamato but since he isn't a shadow of the 1st, Konoha can only rue the loss. In fact Yamato IS the last senju isn't he? Well, no matter, Kakashi will most likely be appointed regardless of his shortcomings.
I doubt Shikaku would accept the Kage's post either.
