Some of us here would celebrate our birthdays even though we are way behind the achievements of some of our peers.
We would tell ourselves ''reasons'' why its worth celebrating or at least be thankful to God for.
We would remember/regret the missed opprotunities. We would wish we had done some things different. We would hope we achieve more the coming years. We would pray we overcome our incapacities(either self-afflicted or externally influenced). We would still feel happy we are alive despite the despair we may have for our past failures and gratitude for our ''little'' accomplishments.
In thesame vein today is worth if anything at all being thankful to God for.Thankful that we still have hope 'cos when there is life and one is still able, then there is still hope for a brighter future.
HAPPY CELEBRATIONS.cheers.

Happy Birthday Nigeria!

Nigeria has some enduring qualities despite all her cancers, she is resilient, beautiful and is a go-getter. Let us join hands to make the 60th one a better cause to celebrate,

Have a look at this article. It is a satire on Nigeria at 50. Very apt but hilarious: http://woahnigeria./2010/09/30/no-malice-in-nigeria-wonderland-nigeria-independence-special/

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its peoples are treated, We can Build this country on a foundation of pleasant thoughts. Never fret at any imperfections that you fear may impede the country progress. Remind yourself, as often as necessary, that you are a creature of God and have the power to achieve Nigeria dream by lifting up your thoughts. You can fly when you decide that you can. Never consider yourself defeated again, Together we can build this Nation forward. Let the vision in your heart be in your life's blueprint. Happy Independence Day All fellow Nigerians.

This is a period for national prayers. There's hardly any reason to celebrate. There's not even power supply to watch the aniversary on TV.  sad

**Reciting the National Anthem**  grin

Arise, O compatriots, Nigeria's call obey
To serve our fatherland
With love and strength and faith
The labor of our heroes past
Shall never be in vain
To serve with heart and might
One nation bound in freedom, peace and
unity.

Oh God of creation, direct our noble cause
Guide our leaders right
Help our youth the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
And living just and true
Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace and justice
shall reign.

Happy 50th Birthday, Nigeria.  kiss  kiss  kiss
I hope this marks our turning point.

Theres is nothing to celebrate. The entity called Nigeria is a sham. It needs to be split in half so the northerners can go their separate way.

Indonesia also is as old as Nigeria.

It too was ruled by the military until 1998. It has a population of 200 million.

However life expectancy there is 70 and in Nigeria only 47 yrs.

Nigeria a country that has reached its menopause age, the age of the wise, is yet to show any sign of learning from the past. We still build castles in the air, still promising what we promised 50 years back, still wanting to patch and amend, still trying to solve an identified problem with which answers we already have. So de facto, Nigeria a country crawling from birth is yet to achieve its desirable development, at menopause yet unmarried.
The question now is, is the outragous amount brought out by our leaders worth spending on just a day celebration?
