Chapter 1

Soccer practice had just ended with the coach reminding the team of thier upcoming inter-school friendly with McKinney High school and how intensive thier next four days of practice is going to be. As the boys made thier way out of the locker room, they caught sight of Nadia and Lisa walking over with smiles on thier faces; dressed neatly in thier cheerleading outfits. Megan was right behind them, but of course, she didn't look as happy as her two best friends were.

"Happy Birthday Bruce," Nadia sang as she hurried over and gave Bruce a hug.

"Thanks," Bruce chuckled as he wrapped his arms around her.

“Happy birthday man,” Trevor cheered as he equally walked over from behind and patted Bruce on the back. "Thanks bro.”

Lisa walked over and stopped beside Trevor before she chimed, “Happy birthday Bruce.”

Bruce looked away from Trevor and his eyes landed on Lisa with furrowed brows and a malicious smile on his face. He stretched out his arms; inviting her for a hug. “Don’t I get a hug?” He smiled.

Trevor’s eyes moved from Bruce to Lisa and watched her move past him to give Bruce a hug. He took his eyes off Bruce and Lisa and glanced in Nadia’s direction. His eyes then caught Aaron’s eyes on him; watching him. It was almost as if Aaron was watching Trevor to see if he was going to pull out a gun or something. Trevor turned away and his eyes met that of Caleb; his eyes equally as cautious as that of Aaron. Caleb glanced away immediately.

“Weird,” Trevor thought.

Lisa pulled away from Bruce and walked back to Trevor; just as Bruce himself moved to Megan and threw his arms over her shoulder. Trevor wasn't sure, but it was almost as if Megan felt irritated the moment Bruce touched. They had to be fighting again of something, because the moment Bruce’s arms landed over her shoulders, she squinted and looked at Caleb who already had his eyes one her, before he moved them to Bruce.

Suddenly, loud crashing sounds made every wheel in time to see Lenny far behind them struggling with four water coolers that had somehow Fallen to the floor.

"Loser!" One of the team members yelled and everyone laughed.

“Party is at eight!” Aaron announced in a voice loud enough for all the players and cheerleaders on the field to hear. “..Bruce’s house! And if you ain’t got beer or weed with you, you ain’t coming in!”

The boys all cheered when they heard Aaron’s last sentence. Aaron then turned to Trevor. “Dude,” he said. “Still got that fake ID with you?”

Trevor turned to him. “Yeah. Why?”

“Nothing ,” Aaron shrugged as he walked past Trevor. “Just gonna need it for some booze.”

“So, the ones the guys are bringing isn’t going to be enough?” Trevor raised a brow.

Aaron turned back to Trevor with an evil smile on his face. “No.”

Trevor chuckled in response to Aaron. He knew Aaron lived for things like these. Planning parties was Aaron’s life and from the look on Aaron’s face, Trevor could tell this party was possibly going to be the craziest party they were going to see since …well, since Bruce’s sixteenth birthday party, which Aaron had also planned.

"Come on guys," Bruce said as he pulled Megan along. "Let's get out of here."

"Yeah," Nadia yelled in excitement. "We've got a party to plan."

Trevor looked up and watched Bruce, Megan, Aaron and Nadia walk away. “Ugh,” Lisa groaned beside him. “My body feels sticky and gross.”

Trevor looked back down to her and smiled. “Mine too. It’s the sweat.”

A mischievous smile grew on Lisa’s face as she looked at him. “I have an idea. Why don’t we both go take a shower?”

Trevor raised a brow and smirked at her. “That sounds…..satisfying.”

Lisa giggled before their faces came close and they shared a passionate kiss. When they pulled away, Lisa started to pull on his arms gently. "Come on," she said with a dirty smile. "Let's go. I'm getting impatient already."

Trevor's head dropped as he chuckled, but when he raised his head again, he turned and saw Lenny still struggling with the water coolers, before his eyes suddenly fell on the shirtless and tattooed body of the green eyed dark haired boy who was just heading out of the locker room.

It was Lance.

Lance was hurrying out of the locker room, but when his eyes landed on Trevor in the distance, he slowed down. Trevor just stood there with Lisa pulling his arms gently and his eyes stuck to Lance's slim but muscular torso.

"Trevor," the rise in Lisa's tone seemed to awaken him, before he spun to her and smiled. "Let's go," she urged.

Without looking back anymore, Trevor swung his arms over his girlfriend's shoulder and walked away.

Lance

Lance watched Trevor walk away for some seconds, before the loud thuds of Lenny's water coolers falling to the floor and hitting each other tore for the third time, caught his attention from the departing couple. Lance faced Lenny and held himself from laughing when he saw him kick one of the coolers in frustration as he yelled, "Fvcking.... fvck you!"

He took his eyes back to Trevor and Lisa who were farther away now as he walked over and stopped right beside Lenny.

"Hey," Lance began as he kept his curious eyes on Trevor in the distance without even giving a damn about Lenny and his coolers. "I heard the guys cheering a few minutes ago. Did the coach say anything? what was that about?"

Lenny spun to him and almost recoiled at the fact that Lance Tiffin was actually talking to him voluntarily. He followed Lance's eyed and saw that Lance was looking at Trevor, before he looked back at him. "It's..uhm....a party. They're having a party."

Lance turned to Lenny with a serious look on his face. "A party?"

Lenny nodded. "Yeah. It's Bruce Hanson's birthday today, so..."

Lance looked back in Trevor's direction again. "I see."

Lenny looked out in Trevor's direction and then back at Lance. "You..you wanna go?"

Lance darted his eyes to Lenny immediately with blazing eyes and Lenny was pretty sure Lance would punch him at any moment. There was a sneer on Lance's face as he glared at Lenny. "Shut up," he spat.

Lenny adjusted his glasses, tightened his lip shut and looked to the ground like a child that had just been reprimanded but his parents.

Lance looked back at Trevor and Lisa and watched them walk out of the arena. He turned back to Lenny, before his eyes fell down to the coolers below. Lance picked up two of the coolers and started to walk away. Lenny's eyes went wide as he stood there, frozen with disbelief at the fact the Lance Tiffin was actually helping him out. Lance got a few yards away before he turned and saw that Lenny wasn't moving.

Lance rolled his eyes and gave an exhausting sighed "Are you coming or not?"

Lenny shook his head; pulling himself out of his trance before he picked up the remaining coolers and moved towards Lance. He stood there and smiled sheepishly at Lance.

Lance's brows furrowed in response. "What?"

Lenny shook his head with the smile on his face. "N-Nothing. Never mind."

Lance looked away from him and started to walk. Lenny watched him for a few seconds before he followed again. All the boys had ignored him throughout his bout with the four water coolers and of all the people to finally help, it was Lance Tiffin. Lenny's mind went back to the farewell party in back in France. He had gotten a seat with Lance at the bar and even if Lance had been his usual condescending self, he didn't push Lenny away or stand up and leave, No. They sat there talking about things, people they liked, but could not have. Now, here he was, helping his sorry Ass out. Lenny took one last look at Lance infront of him. He didn't know what or who was responsible for this weird change, but he sure as hell hoped that who or whatever it was, would never go away.

Chapter 2

That evening, Stephanie stood right in front of the door of the Foster house, waiting for it to open. She had knocked twice and held herself from knocking again after she had heard Lenny's mother yell, "Lenny, can you get that?" from the other side of the door.

A few hours ago; after school had closed that day, she heard the familiar voice of Caleb calling her from behind. She had already made her way to the school parking lot, looking for Lenny so they could go home together. She spun and saw Caleb hurrying over, so she had to slow down and then stop. She was curious as to what he wanted to tell her and that's why she was shocked when he told her Bruce's birthday was today and that he was inviting her for the party that was in a few hours time.

"Oh..Oh, I-ehm- I see," Stephanie had stuttered. She was speechless. She had taken one look at Caleb's eyes and realised he would not take 'no' for an answer. She took her eyes off Caleb and glanced at the students passing them by. Some of them were looking St the both of them with curiosity. Most especially, two of Stephanie's colleagues whom she studied for the upcoming quiz with; Tessa and Keith.

"If you don't come, " Caleb's voice pulled her attention back. "I'm not to going."

Stephanie shot her wide eyes back to him. She was expecting to him laugh afterwards, but his face remained stern.

Jesus, he was serious.

At that point, Stephanie didn't remember saying yes, but she remembered saying something that had suddenly caused a smile to play on Caleb's face before he backed away and uttered an enthusiastic, "It's eight o clock, remember!"

Suddenly, the door to Lenny's house swung open; bringing Stephanie back to the present. The look on Lenny's face when his eyes landed on Stephanie, turned from curiosity into confusion. First of all, he took in her large grey sweater and full jeans trousers.

"Steph," Lenny said as his eyes travelled up and down her outfit. " What are you doing here? We don't have study group today, do we?"

Stephanie deadpaned, before she moved past him and entered the warmth of his home. She stopped, turned and watched him shut the door before she raised her arms and crossed them over her chest. "Hope you're not busy tonight."

Lenny studied her while giving rapid blinks of perplexity. "What do you mean?"

"Stephanie sweety," Lenny's mother interrupted them as she walked out of the dinning area; moving straight to Stephanie to give her a hug. "How are you darling."

"I'm fine Mrs Foster," Stephanie gave her a polite smile as she gently pulled away from her hug.

"And your mum?"

"She's good."

"That recipe she gave me with the dates was absolutely magnificent. Lenny and his father didn't want to eat anything else for a whole week."

"Really?" Stephanie raised her brows as her smile got wider. "She'll be glad you liked it I'm sure."

Mrs Foster then clapped her hands together and looked away from Stephanie to Lenny and then back to Stephanie again with a kind smile on her face. "Well then, I guess I'll have to make dinner for an extra person."

"Oh, that won't be necessary Mrs Foster," Stephanie said. "Lenny and I are going to a party right now anyway."

Mrs Foster raised her brows at Stephanie in surprise. "You are?"

Lenny darted his eyes to Stephanie in shock. "We are?"

"Of course we are, silly," Stephanie faked a laugh and placed her hand on Lenny's shoulder as she looked to his mother. "He is so forgetful."

Lenny's narrow eyes never left Stephanie as she kept speaking. What was she up to now?

"Well okay then," Lenny's mother shrugged.

"I'm not going anywhere," Lenny looked up to his mum and spat.

Stephanie turned to him with a glare. “Yes. You. Are.” Her words were separated in a seething hiss.

“No I’m not.”

Stephanie turned to him completely and narrowed her eyes. “Yes you are.”

Lenny sighed, looked up to the ceiling, and then he folded his hands over his chest before he looked back down at her. “I’m not going anywhere with you Steph. It’s late.”

“Oh hush up Lenny,” Mrs. Foster’s voice was filled with the impatience she had held in her throat all the while she had been listening to the both of them. “I mean, look at you. You’re seventeen and you probably haven’t even touched a girl before.”

Stephanie tried to hide her amusement while watching Lenny turning to his mother with wide eyes and his mouth falling open.

“Mum. Seriously!” Lenny scowled.

Mrs. Foster ignored his response and turned to Stephanie with a polite smile. “If you guys don’t have a ride, you can take my car, dear.”

“Aww,” Stephanie pressed her hand to her chest and cocked her head in admiration at Lenny’s mother. “Thank you so much Mrs. Foster.”

“Mum, I’ve told you, I’m not going,” Lenny said bluntly as he started to move away from them, heading for the seating room.

“Leonard Samson Foster,” Mrs. Foster’s voice was louder and laced with authority. “You will go to this party with Stephanie whether you like it or not.”

Lenny paused, dropped his shoulders and turned to face his mother and exhaled. He really couldn’t believe his mother was actually in support of him going out with Stephanie to this party. What party was she talking about anyway? He really didn’t feel like going anywhere tonight. But, then again, he should have known. His mum had always liked Stephanie so much.

“You are a seventeen year old boy. Act like one,” his mother gave him a stern look, but he could see she was also slightly amused. His eyes glanced straight to Stephanie and he suddenly felt the bitterness ring in his ears when he saw her smirking mischievously at him.

Bitch.

“Fine,” Lenny threw his arms in the air with frustration and brought them back down again.

Mrs. Foster’s face suddenly went from serious to cheerful in a second as a smile quickly tugged on both sides of her lips. She turned to Stephanie and placed her hand on her shoulder. “I’ll go get the car keys,” Mrs. Foster said, before she walked past Lenny, turned the corner and disappeared into the sitting room.

Lenny watched his mother walk away, before he turned and glared at Stephanie who was still smirking at him. God, he wanted walk up there and smack her silly, but Instead, she was the one that moved to him and stopped in front before raising her hands and crossing them on her chest. She looked up at him with a triumphant smile and said, “Well?”

“Well?” Lenny shrugged.

Stephanie’s eyes travelled up and down his body. “Are you going to go upstairs and change into something else, or do you want to go out there looking like this?”

Lenny's eyes travelled up and down her outfit. "Look who's talking," he scoffed.

"Lenny," Stephanie warned with a glare.

He rolled his eyes and dragged himself past her; heading straight for the staircase. He was right in front of the steps when he stopped and spun to Stephanie with confusion showing on his features. “Whose party are we going to anyway?”

“Whose party is the entire school talking about?” Stephanie said with a smug.

Lenny’s eyes moved from her face and drifted into space as he became lost in thought; trying to remember. When the answer hit him, his head turned to Stephanie slowly with both eye brows furrowed. "Wait," Lenny said. "You don't mean...Bruce Hanson's party, do you?"

Stephanie said nothing. She just gave him a shy smile and looked to the floor. Lenny's mouth dropped open. He moved away from the stairs and walked closer to her.

"How the hell did you get-" He paused.

Stephanie looked up at him and met his eyes wide with realisation. He had suddenly figured it out.

"He invited you," Lenny uttered in awe. "Didn't he?"

"I don't know what you are talking about," Stephanie replied with a naughty smile, before she turned away and started to move towards the sitting room.

"Oh come on Steph," Lenny scoffed as he hurried after her and blocked her. "You know what i'm talking about."

"No, I don't," she lied.

"Caleb Dickson invited you to a party," Lenny gave her a mischievous grin. "And you're actually going."

"So?" She shrugged.

"So," Lenny paused and crossed his arms over his chest; his smile getting wider now. "You really do like this guy, don't you?"

Stephanie dropped her shoulders and groaned before she pushed Lenny out of her way and headed into the sitting room. "Please Lenny. Just stop."

"Honey, you know it's the truth," Lenny said; still following close behind her.

"No it's not."

"Yes it is."

Stephanie suddenly stopped and spun to Lenny with her eye blazing with rage as she adjusted her glasses. "No it's not," she hissed through her teeth.

"Denial isn't a good look for you, Steph," he smirked at her.

"Jesus Christ, Lenny," Stephanie drove her fingers through her hair in frustration. "I'm not in...Why the hell are you acting as if you don't know the plan?"

"Oh please," Lenny rolled his eyes.

"I'm doing this for Lance. I know something is up and I want to find out what and the only way I can do that is by getting into Bruce's group through someone..," she paused and then moved closer to Lenny. "Caleb Dickson."

Lenny's smirk turned into a smile as his eyes seemed to study her for a few seconds. Then he looked to the floor and chuckled. He looked up at her again and raised his hands in surrender. "Okay, fine, whatever. You win."

"Thank you!" She spat in response before she pointed up the stairs with her eyes on him. "Now get your boney ass up there and get dressed."

Lenny's smile suddenly vanished. "Hey," he uttered. "My ass is not boney."

"Whatever," she flipped him off and headed into the sitting room. "Just hurry."

She heard him mumbling something under his breath as he matched towards the steps and then upstairs. She could swear that sometimes, when she had conversations like these with him, it was like arguing with a younger brother she never had. She and Lenny were about the same age, but she was three months older than his sorry ass.

She dropped to a sit on thier large couch and kept her eyes on the rectangular flat screen TV on the wall. A wildlife documentary was showing on the national geographic channel, but she wasn't paying attention. Her eyes were on the TV, but her mind was somewhere else.

"You really do like this guy, don't you?" Lenny's annoying voice rang in her head.

"No I don't," Stephanie clenched her fist and whispered to herself. But it shocked her when a voice in her head replied, "Liar."

Chapter 3

Lenny had to park the car three blocks away from Bruce’s house since there wasn’t a single place to park around the house. The whole place was filled with cars and teenaged kids walking towards the mansion; laughing and chanting cheerfully. Stephanie and Lenny stepped out of the car and suddenly felt the cold night air envelope them. Stephanie shut the car door, looked over at Lenny as he wrapped his arms around himself and was suddenly glad she was wearing a sweater. They could hear the booming sounds of the music blasting and drowning out the loud cheers of the party goers from the house three blocks away, as if they were right in front of it all.

Lenny turned to Stephanie and gave her a nervous look. “Well?”

Stephanie turned to him and shrugged. “What?”

“You know this is a bad idea, right?” Lenny gave her a worried look.

Stephanie rolled her eyes, slammed her door and walked away; leaving him standing there beside the car. She started to walk down the street; the cool night air hitting her face. The sound of the music was beginning to increase in intensity, just like her heart beat did. She couldn’t deny it. She was nervous as hell. She couldn’t remember the last time she had attended a party. She wasn’t even sure she had attended any party at all ever since she got into high school. She always thought it wasn’t just her thing. Or maybe she wasn’t confident enough. Yet, here she was, walking to the door of a home she had never been to before. A home owned by someone she knew but had never even spoken to, and there were strangers everywhere, kids that she had always seen in school, but had never spoken to.

Stephanie turned into Bruce’s drive way; into a small crowd of teens dancing and chanting, laying on the floor and some of them even making out on his front lawn. She looked up at the enormous structure that was before her.

Jesus. Bruce's house was huge.

She made her way to the front door and saw two teens; a boy and a girl sitting on his lap with bottles of beer in their hands on the front porch. Stephanie caught the girl watching her with a sneer on her face that seemed to ask, “What the hell is she doing here?” But of course, she ignored her. She moved forward and stopped right in front of the door, before she spun and saw Lenny walk up to the steps behind her. She spun back to the door that seemed as though it was being banged on by the beats of the music coming from within the house. She raised her knuckles and knocked on the door. After she had knocked, she got a funny feeling no one would hear her over all that loud music. The door stayed closed about twenty seconds after she had knocked and she was about to knock again when Lenny reached forward and held her hand. She spun back to him.

“I don’t think anyone is going to open up, Steph,” he said as he walked past her and pushed the door open. He walked into the hallway and turned to her with a wry smile. “It’s a high school party. Nobody gives a damn.”

Stephanie rolled her eyes in response and tried to ignore the warmth that radiated from within the house as she walked in. Lenny closed the door and they both walked in further. The air inside was hot and tight. It was stuffy, but judging by the way everyone was dancing, screaming and chugging their beers down, they obviously didn’t care. The whole place reeked of weed and alcohol. Stephanie and Lenny just stood there, scanning their surroundings like Astronauts on an alien planet and holding themselves from covering thier ears from the unbelievably loud music. They were unsure of what to do. The entire sitting room was packed with teens who were drunk with euphoria. The music was so loud; Stephanie could already feel a headache coming on. She let her eyes glide from one point of the sitting room to the other as she took it all in. The whole place was a mess. There were paper cups on the floor and beer stains on one of the chairs. Stephanie jumped in response to a sudden loud crash that came from the far corner. She darted her eyes in the direction of the crash and saw the shattered pieces of what looked like a really expensive vase right there on the floor. Everyone was going about their business like nothing happened. Stephanie didn’t think Bruce would care anyway, neither would his parents. She knew anything that was trashed here tonight would probably be replaced in two days; three to four days at most.

Rich people.

They both walked further into the mad house, trying very hard to hide their apprehension as their eyes darted from one corner to the other. People dancing to the beat of the song; some of them, dancing out of beat even. But it was clear some of them were drunk. Stephanie’s eyes widened when she saw a boy being turned upside down on top of a table with a pipe running from a large container, which contained beer, to his mouth. There was a crowd of boys gathered around him chanting, “Chug! Chug! Chug!” As Stephanie watched the scene unfold, she started to feel nauseous. What the hell was she even doing here? She looked round at the faces around her, some of them looked familiar, while the rest looked strange, but none of them was Caleb.

“Check it out,” Lenny called her attention as he gently nudged at her shoulder. She turned to him and he nodded his head in the direction of what he wanted her to see. “It’s the birthday boy.”

Stephanie looked over and saw Bruce on a large couch with two girls seating beside him; one playing with his hair and the other with a wild smile on her face as he kissed her neck. None of those girls were his girlfriends by the way and that was why Stephanie was a bit surprised when she saw Megan sitting at the other side of the couch with her head bowed down to her phone. His girlfriend was right there beside him and there he was, flirting and smooching with two skanks. A sneer slowly grew on Stephanie’s face as she kept her eyes on Bruce.

“What a pig,” she thought.

The nausea in Stephanie’s gut intensified. She suddenly felt like throwing up. She began to think this was all a mistake. Caleb had invited her and she had not seen him anywhere. Maybe he was at the back of the house, but she didn’t care. She didn’t even want to call him. She was leaving.

“Let’s go, Lenny,” she said as she suddenly turned away and headed for the door.

Lenny looked at her, confused. “Wha-what do you mean? Go where?”

She glared back at him and said, “Home,” before she faced the door again, reached for it and pulled it open. Stephanie froze in place when she saw who was standing right in front of her with large metallic vessel of beer in his hands and Trevor right behind him.

Caleb’s eyes widened with shock when he saw her, before a smile slowly tugged on his lips. He had invited her, but he didn't think she would come. “Ste-Stephanie,” he said. “You came.”

Chapter 4

Stephanie and Caleb

Caleb and Stephanie were in the kitchen a few minutes later. She watched him move to the fridge, pull out two plastic cups and a small carton and pour a drink into the cups. Stephanie watched him cautiously. The way brown and limp strands of his hair fell to his face as he lowered his head. The crease that appeared on his forehead as he concentrated on making sure both cups were filled up to equal levels. The moment he dropped the small carton and looked up, Stephanie quickly looked away; throwing her eyes to cupboard at the right. She thought it was weird how smooth and clean the wood works of the cupboard were.

“Here,” she heard Caleb say before she turned and saw him handing one of the plastic cups to her with a smirk on his face.

Stephanie took her eyes off the cup and looked up to his face. She was hesitant.

“It’s not beer,” Caleb gave her a kind smile. “It’s juice. Pineapple juice.”

Her eyes fell to the cup again before she slowly reached up and took the cup from him. “Thanks.”

Caleb’s smile grew wider before he lifted his plastic cup to his lips and took a sip of his drink. Stephanie watched him and started to think. She thought it was sweet that he assumed she wouldn’t like alcohol; because she didn’t. She also thought it was hurtful that he didn’t think she was ‘Bad-ass’ enough for alcohol. Caleb brought his cup down from his lips and turned to her with a smile.

His smile slowly dissolved into a playful frown when his eyes travelled down to her outfit. “What are you wearing?”

Stephanie suddenly looked down at herself as if she had not realised she was wearing grey sweater and loose jean trousers all this time. She looked back up to Caleb; her face beet red and a nervous smile playing on her face.

“You look like a hooker,” Caleb said.

Her eyes widened . Did he just call her a hooker? She stood there in shock for a few seconds; waiting for him to take in what he had just said and maybe apologise, but no, he just kept smiling at her mischievously. Stephanie furrowed her brows and started to think that maybe Caleb was finally losing his mind. She was wearing a large grey sweater that seemed to itch her all over and a jean trouser that looked like it belonged to her father and here he was calling her a hooker? She looked into her cup of juice and paused, before looking back at his smiling face again. That was when it hit her.

He was being sarcastic.

A smile suddenly appeared on her face as she shook her head. She lifted her cup and sipped on her drink; a gesture she did to hold herself from laughing out. He would probably think she was a hyena if she laughed at every single joke he made.

“You know…” Caleb started. “I didn’t think you would come.”

She looked up at him with furrowed brows. “Why?”

“I just didn’t think parties were your thing,” Caleb shrugged.

“ …Because I’m a straight ‘A’ student?”

Caleb opened his mouth to say something, but then he saw her raise her brows at him in anticipation for his answer and then he dropped his head and began to chuckle. He looked up at her and shook his head. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean-”

“It’s fine.” Stephanie shrugged as though she did not care, but she did.

There was silence again.

“Let’s go join the party,” Caleb nodded to the door as he moved past her.

“Actually,” she said, causing Caleb to stop and turn to face her. “I don’t think that would be necessary.”

“Why not?”

“Nothing. It’s just….. it’s way too noisy out there. It’s crazy.”

Caleb’s confusion dissolved slowly into a smile that seemed to tell Stephanie how pleasantly intriguing she was to him. Stephanie had never had anyone of the opposite sex look at her that way before. He looked to the ground; thinking of something, before he looked up at her again.

He stretched his free hand out to her and nodded towards the door. “Come on,” he said.

Stephanie sighed and dropped her shoulder like a child being scolded by her mum. She didn’t want to enter that sitting room.

“Relax,” Caleb chuckled, sensing her displeasure. “We’re going somewhere else.”

Her brows furrowed with a mixture of confusion and curiosity. She sure as hell hoped he wasn’t thinking of her following him anywhere strange or getting in for a drive somewhere else because that was not going to happen. She was in high school and she had heard of girls getting raped that way. A cute and charming guy pulls you out to a secluded place for a magical moment and then…BAM!

“Where are we going?” The question fell off her mouth before she could even blink.

Caleb’s smile grew wider. “You’ll see.”

The moment Stephanie narrowed her eyes at him playfully; Caleb dropped his shoulders, sighed and looked up to the ceiling, before he looked back down at her again with a weak smile. “Stephanie, I’m not going to hurt you.”

She kept her eyes on him and noticed how sincere his green eyes were. She didn’t want to believe it, but somehow, she felt Caleb would never hurt her. She placed her hands in Caleb’s large palms and walked out of the kitchen with him.

Trevor

Trevor was seated on a large couch with Lisa on his lap and Bruce, Aaron, Nadia and Megan on the other side. The music was really loud, but he had gotten used to it. Nadia was lip synching along to the song being played while Megan just kept her attention on her phone. Trevor was beginning to wonder what was going on with Megan. She had changed all of a sudden. He could swear she had gone to France with them and did not come back. He was beginning to think the Megan he was looking at was her soulless doppleganger or something. It was strange.

“Yo Bruce!” One of the boys from the soccer team yelled from across the sitting room.

“What!” Bruce rolled his eyes without even looking back.

“We’re out of beer!”

Bruce spun to the boy with his brows raised in surprise. “Already?”

The boy shrugged in response. Bruce turned back to Aaron beside him. “We still got beer in the car?”

Aaron was already stretching his neck; looking for Caleb in the crowd of teens. “Yep, Caleb has the keys. Where the hell is he anyway?

"He's probably with that red haired brat," Nadia sneered before she took a sip of her drink.

Lisa laughed. "..and that bothers you because...?"

"No reason," Nadia shrugged. "I just don't like that bitch."

"Yeah, relax guys" Trevor said as he raised the key to Bruce's view. " Caleb gave me the keys."

“Dante can go with you,” Bruce said as he spun around to find Dante. “Hey Dante!”

Dante looked in their direction, looked back at the girl he was talking to and raised a finger to her; telling her he would be right back, before he hurried over and stopped right beside Trevor. “What’s up,” Dante asked as he darted his eager eyes between Bruce and Trevor.

“Come on dude,” Trevor sighed as he stood up from his seat, patted Dante on the shoulder and walked past him. “Let’s go get the beers.”

Dante quickly nodded in response before he and Trevor squeezed through the dancing crowd and made their way out the front door. They both made their way to Bruce’s car and stopped at the side. Dante snickered at a couple who were making out a few yards away.

“It’s called ‘Making out with your girlfriend. You should try it sometime,” Trevor said.

Dante turned to Trevor and scoffed. “Dude please. I’m eighteen. At this point in my life, I’m supposed to get all the pussies I can get.”

Trevor chuckled and shook his head when he heard what Dante had just said.

“No-but, seriously,” Dante said as he moved closer to Trevor. “I’m mean, look at you for instance. Me and the guys think it’s tragic that a guy like you just has to settle for only one girl,…..when you can have the whole school.”

“Oh,” Trevor looked up at Dante with raised brows and a smirk on his face. “So you and the guys have been gossiping about me, huh?”

Dante recoiled with his hands up in surrender. “Hey man, relax, we were just-”

Trevor chuckled again. He was amused at the fact that even someone like Dante didn’t want any trouble with him. “Relax man. I was just kidding.”
Dante then heaved a sigh of relief. “Come on,” Trevor said as he turned away from him and opened the trunk of the car. “We’ve got beer to deliver.”

“Right,” Dante darted forward and lifted the remaining three containers of beer from the car. They off-loaded, dropping the containers on the ground, before Dante lifted one container and headed straight for the house. Trevor slammed the trunk shot and turned to the remaining two containers Dante had left behind. He knew for sure, that Dante wasn’t going to come back out here and get the remaining two.

“Jackass,” Trevor hissed to himself as he lowered his body to the ground to pull up one of the containers. Trevor lifted the container to his belly level and was a little astonished at how heavy this particular vessel was. But hey, he wasn’t doing press-ups and working out at the gym for nothing, right?

“You know,..” A familiar voice almost made Trevor jump and drop the heavy container on his feet. He spun and saw Lance standing there; a malicious smile on his face and a glint of mischief in his green eyes. “..you’re not supposed to be carrying a container of beer like that. Upside down.”

Trevor kept his suspicious eyes on Lance before he scoffed and looked down at the container that was pressed against his chest.

Holy shit, he really was carrying the container upside down. Trevor swallowed as he slowly and reluctantly looked back up to Lance; his face red with embarrassment. The smirk on Lance’s face had grown into a smile now as he shook his head and uttered, “Dumbass.”

Chapter 5

“What are you doing here?” Trevor asked while trying to ignore Lance’s mocking facial expression.

Lance shrugged; still smiling. “It’s a party, right?”

“Yeah, but no one invited you,” Trevor himself was slightly shocked at the coldness of his own voice. He also felt a prick of guilt when he saw a flash of pain in Lance’s eyes when he said those words. The smile was still on Lance’s face, but his eyes seemed to scream ‘Ouch!’

Lance blinked rapidly and looked away. His smile quickly disappeared before he licked his lips. Even Trevor could see he was trying to keep something down. Trevor also noticed how slightly bloodshot Lance's eyes were and he had two verdicts in his mind; it was either Lance was high on something, or he wasn't getting enough sleep.

Lance looked back to Trevor, and then his eyes dropped to the last container of beer lying on the floor. He bent over and lifted the container to his chest, paused and looked at Trevor, before he walked past him and headed straight for the house.

“Dude,” Trevor called after him. “You don’t have to-!”

Lance didn’t even look back. He just kept moving; completely ignoring Trevor. Trevor exhaled and hurried after him. He appreciated Lance’s help, hell, something inside of him was screaming for joy the moment he turned and saw his familiar smirk. But truth was, Trevor knew Lance coming to Bruce’s party; a party he wasn’t invited to, wasn’t going to end well.

They both walked into the house with the loudness of the music hitting Lance’s ears the moment he stepped in. Trevor watched Lance as his eyes darted from one corner of the crowded sitting-room to the other with a look of awe on his face. Lance looked like a little boy who had just walked into Disneyland. The look on his face seemed to tug at Trevor’s heart when he remembered that Lance, being who he was, was probably never invited to occasions like these whenever they were organised.

Trevor stretched his neck and called a random boy who was dancing on his own. The boy looked reluctant at first, but when Trevor handed the vessel to the boy and told him it was beer, the boy’s blue eyes went wide with excitement before he grabbed the container from Trevor.

“The kitchen,” Trevor nodded.

“Sure,” the boy replied just before he disappeared in the crowd of teens. From his sudden eagerness to help right after he heard he was carrying beer, Trevor was pretty sure that boy was going to drown himself in that vessel with his friends once he got to the kitchen.

“To the kitchen, right?” Lance’s voice pulled Trevor back. Trevor spun and looked over at him, his brows raised in an innocent curiosity. He wanted to take him; show him to the kitchen where he could drop the beer, but something inside told him that wouldn’t be a good idea. Trevor hated that voice in his head, but it was the truth. He had kissed this guy a few days ago in the rest-room of the hotel of an European country. This was a party after all. What if Lance got drunk and at that point, he decided to become a little chatty? Sure, some people wouldn’t believe him if he said it. I mean, he would be drunk. But his close friends; Caleb, Bruce, Lisa and the girls would definitely not throw away that notion because they knew about the bet.

“It’s okay man,” Trevor said as he reached out and took the beer from Lance. “I’ll take it from here.”

Lance watched him take vessel from him and walk away as he fought the urge to run after him. Before Trevor was out of sight, Lance gave in. He couldn’t take it anymore. He hurried after Trevor and held his shoulder. Trevor spun to face him with slightly widened eyes. He darted his eyes towards his friends at the far corner of the room to make sure they were not looking his way and when he saw that they were all preoccupied, he turned back to Lance and hissed. “Dude, I said-”

“Relax, babe. I won’t tell anyone,” Lance cut him off with a mischievous smile.

Trevor felt his stomach drop when he heard what Lance had called him. He started to get a funny feeling in his gut. He tried hard to be mad at Lance for calling him that, but he couldn’t. Lance had called him ‘Babe’, and Trevor didn’t feel furious. He just couldn’t. Why? Well, he wasn’t mad at Lance for calling him ‘Babe’, but he wasn’t going to let Lance know that. Even if it meant he had to pretend.

Trevor narrowed his eyes at Lance. “Don’t fucking call me that.”

Lance started to chuckle, but when he saw Trevor wasn’t smiling; his smile vanished immediately and morphed into uncertainty.

Trevor turned away and was about to move before Lance reached forward and held his arm again. “Trevor wait,” Lance’s voice was apologetic. Trevor spun and came face to face with Lance’s pleading green eyes.

“I’m-I’m sorry. I just-I’m sorry,” Lance stuttered; unable to hide his uneasiness.

It was funny, but Trevor could swear he saw a glint of desperation in Lance’s eyes; a desperation that seemed to tug at Trevor’s heart. “Stop being an asshole. This guy likes you.” A voice rang in Trevor’s head, or perhaps it was his conscience. Bleep that. Trevor yanked his arms out of Lance’s grip and walked away, leaving Lance standing there like a lost puppy, watching him disappear into the crowd.

Stephanie and Caleb

It was quite astonishing to Stephanie, how big Bruce’s yard was. They had just walked past the swimming pool area that seemed to be the center of the entire party with kids jumping in and out of the pool and the music quite different from, and much louder than the one coming from within the house. Stephanie liked this song though; ‘Lonely together’ by Avici and Rita Ora wasn’t her kind of song, but she liked it. Caleb pulled her over; a gesture that seemed to tell her to hurry up. They both went through a small gate that Stephanie was sure led into their garden and then further down the backyard. Stephanie walked through the gate and looked up. Her eyes widened slightly as she let out a gentle gasp at the world before her.

“Wow,” she uttered in awe.

Caleb turned to her with a kind smile. “I know, right?”

Stephanie slowly followed behind Caleb as they walked down further. The garden was possibly the most beautiful thing She had ever seen in a long time. The maple trees stood majestically right beside the fences, like royal guards securing the utopian expanse. Strings of beautiful Christmas lights hung over head and swung from one tree to the other; giving the entire place a heavenly ambiance.

Caleb turned his green eyes to her before she felt his cold strong hands pull on her. “Over here,” he said as he pulled her in a certain direction.

Stephanie darted her eyes forward and immediately saw were they were going. She felt her heart skip a beat when she saw the large white gazebo in the centre of the garden. Stephanie had never met Bruce’s mother, but she sure as hell had an overwhelming respect for her on putting up this garden. It was magnificent. Caleb helped her up and into the gazebo to seat down, before dropping to a seat beside her. He watched the way her beautiful blue eyes glided from one point to another; the reflections of the lights on her glasses were clear. At that point, Caleb wanted to pull her into a strong and warm embrace. He really couldn’t put a name to what he was feeling. He was losing control.

“I like you, Stephanie,” the words fell out of Caleb’s mouth unexpectedly.

Stephanie paused and turned to him with wide eyes that Caleb thought were so adorable. She adjusted her glasses. “What?”

Caleb started to blink quickly as he looked down to the cup in his hand. He didn’t mean to say it; at least not yet, but the words were out of his mouth already. There was nothing he could do. He looked back at Stephanie, looking more confident and then he took a deep breath. “I-I like you..” Caleb said as he shifted close to her in his seat. “…a lot.”

Stephanie stared into his green eyes and thought they looked sincere. She adjusted her glasses again and looked away and her eyes landed on a particular couple who were sitting at the edge of the garden beside one of the trees guarding the miniature paradise. It then occurred to Stephanie that she, Caleb and that couple were the only living souls at the side of the yard. She wasn’t complaining though, she was enjoying the tranquillity. It was a sharp contrast to the chaos and madness within mansion a few meters away. She had to hand it to Caleb; he really did know how to create a moment.

“Shit, Caleb,” a voice uttered in her head as she suddenly remembered she had not answered his question. She turned and saw Caleb’s eyes still on her. They were expectant.

Stephanie knew he was waiting for an answer, but she honestly didn’t know what to say. She opened her mouth, but nothing came out. Caleb gave her a smile that was anything but happy, and then he looked away, raised his cup to his lips and took a sip. Stephanie didn’t know why, but watching him look away like that made her heart sink. She wanted to reach out and hold him, but she thought that would be silly. She looked away briefly and frowned at a thought. Why did she think that would be silly?

“It’s okay,” Caleb said with his eyes fixed on the trunk of a tree nearby.

Stephanie spun to him with her eye brows raised.

“I get it,” he added with a shrug, before he turned and looked into her eyes. “You don’t trust me, and I don’t blame you.”

Stephanie’s mouth fell open. Once again, she was speechless. She looked down to the empty cup in her hand; slightly surprised that she had finished her drink already. She looked back up into Caleb’s green eyes again and felt her heart skip a beat. There was something about the way he was looking at her. His eyes were so beautiful, yet so unsure and apprehensive. He occasionally blinked away from her to the trees far behind and then back to her face again. It was as if he was finding it difficult to make eye contact, which Stephanie thought was weird. She would think the movement of his eyes was a dead giveaway that he was lying or something, but no. She knew it was otherwise. His eyes didn’t show a hint of lies or deceit, but rather, they seemed to hold something else…….like submission, or intimidation. You know that look someone has when they are looking at someone whom they think is better than they are. That look they give to someone whom they think they do not deserve.

“I mean, I just like you…….a lot,” Caleb’s voice pulled her out of her thoughts. She kept her eyes on him as he kept his eyes down to the ground. “…and I honestly don’t know, but-.”

“I-I like you too,” Stephanie uttered those three words and Caleb darted his wide eyes to her in shock.

“You-you do?”

Stephanie gave a shy smile and shrugged in response, even though something in her head was calling her a dumb bitch for saying that. Yet, she looked at Caleb and felt her heart soar when she saw the charming smile on his handsome face. It was satisfying seeing him this happy,……and hopeful at least.

Caleb kept his eyes on her for a while, as if studying her, before his smile got wider. Stephanie looked down to her empty cup. She wasn’t sure, but she felt he could sense her uneasiness and uncertainty. He reached forward and pulled a strand of her red hair to the back of her right ear.
“We’ll take it slow,” Caleb said.

She looked up at him again; the smile still on his face and the gentle night breeze tugging his brown curls across his forehead. She smiled back at him before they both turned away from each other and took their eyes to the stars in the night sky.

Two teenagers who had just poured their hearts out at each other, well, partially; yet, Stephanie was still feeling uncertain. When she came to this party, she came with a goal. The same goal she had when she followed Mrs. Clarice and her French class to France. The same goal she had when she decided to get close to Caleb Dickson; to find out what was with the sudden friendship between Trevor and Lance; to find out why two people who couldn’t stand each other were suddenly study partners. Hell, Lance had even followed them to France and even Stephanie knew he didn’t take French. She felt something was up and was bent on finding out and that had led her to the idea of getting close to Caleb and syphoning as much info as she could from him; if there was any.

Stephanie turned and looked at Caleb. The child-like curiosity on his face as he stared up at the sky seemed to amuse her a little. He looked adorable. As amused as she wanted to be, Stephanie felt her stomach tighten. She suddenly became nervous. She looked away from him and dropped her eyes to carpet grasses below. She had just told him she also liked him, but did she mean it? Stephanie felt sick with guilt. All of a sudden, she became confused. She didn’t know what she was doing in this party, or what she was doing with him. Hell, she didn’t know what she was doing anymore.

“I’m doing this for Lance,” she whispered to herself. “I’m doing this to protect him.”
But deep down, Stephanie Morris was finding it hard to believe her own words.

Chapter 6

Lenny

Lenny just sat there on the large grey couch at the far side of the living room with a bottle of beer some random person had pushed into his hands. He watched the chaos in form of party crazed teenagers unfold before him. He kept his eyes on two girls who were dancing with a single guy; one girl behind and another in front. The both of them were grinding on the guy mercilessly. His eyes then moved to a particular blonde girl that had been watching him ever since he sat on the couch. He took one look at her and knew she was drunk, so he totally chose to ignore her seductive stares.

“What the Bleep are you doing here?” Lenny heard the humour in the familiar voice. He looked up and wasn’t surprised when he saw Lance smirking down at him. Lenny raised his brows a little when he saw Lance standing right beside his couch with his hands in his pocket. He obviously couldn’t hold his surprise.

“I’m supposed to be asking you that question,” Lenny’s slight surprise had now turned in to curiosity.

Lance moved over and dropped to a sit beside Lenny who was now looking at him as though he had grown two heads. Lenny immediately noticed Lance's eyes. Lance looked like he had not slept for weeks. He didn’t really know what was going on, or what had gotten into Lance. They sat together at the farewell party in Paris, Lance had helped him with one of his coolers after practice, and here he was; talking, sitting beside him on a couch and smirking at him. It was all too confusing. Or was it because they were room-mates during thier trip to Paris? Even then, Lenny remembered that they hardly spoke.

“I guess I’m beginning to grow fond of you,” Lance’s words made Lenny's eyes widen. It was as if Lance had just answered his thoughts.

Lance turned to him and then looked down at the bottle of beer in his hand. “Are you going to drink that?” He asked.

Lenny tore his eyes away from Lance and looked down at the bottle in his hand; as if he had not realised he was holding it all along. “Well, I-”

Lance didn’t even wait for Lenny to finish his response before he reached across and took the bottle of beer from Lenny’s hand. “Thanks,” he said as he totally ignored Lenny’s astonished eyes watching him.

He popped the cap of the bottle open and raised the bottle to his lips for a gulp, before he looked down and smiled at Lenny who was still confused.
“Oh come on,” he said. “You don’t take booze.”

Lenny opened his mouth to say something, but then closed it when he realised Lance was saying the truth. He didn’t take beer. He had never had a bottle of beer before in his life. Lance’s malicious smirk slowly became wider and more annoying and that was why Lenny turned away and glanced in the direction of the blonde girl who was staring at him earlier. He felt his heart leapp when he saw she still had her eyes on him. He immediately looked away and glanced at two guys who were sitting on the floor on the corner. One of them was smoking weed, while the other had a girl on his lap and was making out with her.

“God. Isn’t there anything decent to look at anymore?” Lenny thought.

He looked away from the teens at the corner and then back at the blonde girl. She still had her eyes on him even as she raised her plastic cup to her lips and took a sip of her beer.

“Jesus Christ,” Lenny whispered to himself, his face turned red with embarrassment as he looked to the floor and addressed the patterns on the marble. He heard Lance chuckle beside him and immediately turned to face him. Lenny raised a single brow as if asking him what the hell he was laughing at without even speaking.

Lance looked away. “You should go talk to her,” he said.

Lenny raised both brows now and scoffed. “Yeah, right. I don’t even know her. I don’t even like her.”

“Well, it looks like she does.”

Lenny turned to him again. “She does what?”

Lance turned to him with a smirk. “..Like you.”

Lenny looked away as he gave out a somewhat exhausting laugh. “Dude please, just stop.”

“What?” Lance furrowed his brows in amusement before he looked away from Lenny and then turned to the girl. “She’s kinda cute.”

Lenny rolled his eyes before he looked over at Lisa and Trevor. “Oh yeah?” He said absent-mindedly. “Well, I’m not interested.”

Lance threw his head back in laughter before he looked back down at Lenny and shook his head in disappointment. “I swear,” he said. “You straight guys are pussies.”

Lenny turned to him and scowled. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

Lance shrugged. “Just saying man, I mean, if I was straight and a girl that hot was checking me out, I would take her upstairs and Bleep her brains out.”

Lenny’s eyes went wider with shock. Damn, Lance was an animal, wasn’t he? “Well too bad you’re gay then,” Lenny spat.

Lance turned and glared at him. Lenny took one look into his eyes and knew he had struck a nerve. He was about to open his mouth to apologise when Lance quickly turned away and faced the girl. He narrowed his eyes at her, took a gulp of his beer and then stood up from the couch. Lenny thought he had pissed Lance off and he was walking away, but when he saw Lance walking towards the blonde girl, he felt his heart drop to his stomach.

“Dude,” he hissed as he reached out with his trembling hands and tried to get a hold of Lance; but he wasn’t fast enough. “What are you doing?”

Lenny watched helplessly as Lance walked up to the girl and started a conversation with her. Lance said something to her and she threw her head back in laughter. One other thing Lenny could make out from the girl was her gestures. The way she seemed to sway and the manner in which she looked at Lance; with an amused curiosity. Yep, she was definitely drunk. When Lenny caught Lance pointing at him and the girl looked over, he felt his heart pounding loudly. The girl stared for a while before she stood up and began to walk over to him.

Holy shit.

Lenny immediately threw his eyes to the floor, hoping she wasn’t coming towards him, but when he heard her say “Hello”, he suddenly felt like he was going to throw up. He looked up and quickly wore a fake smile. “Hhe-Hey,” Lenny stuttered.

The girl’s smile grew as she observed Lenny. It was as if she was looking at something she liked; not someone, but something. There was something objectifying about the way she looked at him.

“Let’s go upstairs,” she said.

“Wha-what?” Lenny brought his head forward to hear her better.

Without saying a word, the girl reached down and grabbed Lenny’s arm with a force that surprised him. She pulled him from the couch and through the crowd of teens in the hallway and was heading for the stairs. Lenny had to admit it, he was frightened. He looked back at Lance and found the bastard smiling at him mischievously. Lenny mouthed a soundless “Help me”, but Lance just raised his palms and waved him goodbye and mouthed an equally soundless “Have fun.”

Lance

Lance stood there and watched the mysterious blond girl drag a reluctant Lenny up the stairs and couldn’t help but chuckle. Even he had to admit that Lenny was something. He raised his head and immediately saw the faces of two guys sneering at him from the corner; eyeing him with disgust and probably asking themselves what he was doing here. Lance just gave them a calm smile and watched them look away before he did the same. He was used to being treated like shit for so long, it didn’t even bother him anymore.

As he looked away, his eyes immediately landed on Trevor and Lisa a few yards away from. He saw them cuddled together on a large couch beside Aaron and his bitchy girlfriend that he obviously didn’t care about. They both had their eyes on each other; oblivious to what was happening around them. Lance saw the way Trevor looked into her eyes and suddenly felt his blood boil. The smile on his face was suddenly gone. He had forgotten about everything now; the boys that sneered at him, Lenny and the mysterious blonde girl.

His eyes remained trained on the blonde boy a few yards away from him as an alien feeling coursed through him. Seeing the intimacy between Trevor and Lisa seemed infuriating. He was jealous, but didn’t want to admit it. Lisa had done nothing to him so he had no reason to hate her. If anyone was to be hated in this triangle, it was he himself because Trevor was a guy, just like he was, and the feelings he had for him were clearly unacceptable. Lance kept his eyes on the couple as he raised the bottle to his lips and took the last gulp. He watched as Trevor raised a finger to Lisa’s face and pulled a strand of her black hair to the back of her ears and suddenly felt the bile rise in his throat. It was moments like these he felt it would be better if he killed himself.

Everyone loved Trevor and Lisa because they were an adorable couple and everyone accepted them because Trevor was a boy and Lisa was a girl. That was what it was supposed to be; a boy liking a girl.

People like Lance were just abominations. He sometimes felt the world would be a better place if he wasn’t alive. Hell, what would be the point of staying alive anyway, when you weren’t allowed to love and be loved in return?

Lance’s thoughts froze when Trevor immediately looked up and locked eyes with him. His grip tightened on the cold empty bottle in his right hand as he stood still. He thought of looking away but for some reason, he couldn’t. It was as if he was entranced by Trevor’s blue eyes in the distance. Lance just stood there, expecting Trevor to excuse himself from Lisa and come over or something, but that was stupid. Even he knew that thought was stupid. Trevor moved his eyes away from him and faced Lisa and then moved them back to him again. Even Lance could sense his uncertainty. But then, Trevor looked down at Lisa, moved his face forward and pressed his lips against hers in a passionate kiss.

At that moment, Lance started to blink rapidly as a lump rose in his throat. He watched Trevor kissing Lisa ever so passionately while cupping her tender face in his palms and his eyes began to sting. The both of them pulled away and Lisa leaned forward and whispered into Trevor’s ear. As Trevor listened, Lance watched a wicked smile slowly grow on Trevor’s face. Lisa pulled away, stood to her feet and pulled Trevor up from his seat. She bit her lower lip seductively as she watched Trevor follow her in tow with his eyes sliding up and down her back and stopping at her ass. Trevor then turned and looked in Lance’s direction with the wicked smile still on his face; as if to make sure Lance was watching them.

Lance stood there and watched them until they both disappeared into the crowd.

He then turned away and headed straight down the hall, pushing a boy and a girl out of his sight vehemently; ignoring their “Hey” and “What the Bleep?”

Bleep them. Bleep them all. The only thing he needed right now was a beer. He remembered Trevor saying the beers were in the kitchen. He found his way to the kitchen, picked up a plastic cup, and kept filling them up and gulping every last drop; completely ignoring the kids staring at him. He did his best to hold it all down.

He had promised himself he wasn’t going to cry.

Even though his eyes stung and were welling up with tears, he wasn’t going to cry.

Chapter 7

It all happened so fast. One minute, Lenny felt the girl pulling him through a crowd of people and up the stairs and the next minute, she was pulling him into a room and before Lenny knew what was happening, he saw her shut the door before she slammed him hard against it and pushed her lips against his. He felt her tongue force its way into his mouth, stopping him from saying anything. The only thing he could do was to try and push her away and that wasn’t working at all. He didn’t know what it was; whether it was the alcohol or not, but this girl was crazy.

He finally managed to push her off him. “Wa-wait wait….wait a minute,” he stuttered.

“What,” the girl uttered with heavy breaths as she searched his face. “What’s wrong?” Her speech was a bit slurred.

Lenny grimaced as the strong stench of alcohol in her breath hit his face. He looked away from her and glanced at the bed at the corner of the room; his face was beet red with embarrassment. “I-I-uhm-I have…not...”

A mischievous smile grew on the girl’s face as she realised something. “Oh my God,” the girl’s mouth fell open in awe as she took a step back and observed Lenny. “Are you a virgin?”

Lenny shot his head up from the bed and looked at her in shock. “N-no,…I just-”

The girl quickly moved forward, pressed herself against him and covered his mouth before he could say anything else. Her smile grew wider and even more devilish as her eyes moved from his eyes to his nose. “No worries,” she said, before she moved to his left ear and whispered. “That makes it even better.” After those words, she licked Lenny’s ear.

Lenny felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand when he felt the wetness of her tongue across his ear. The electrifying feeling travelled from his neck to his back and then down to his groin. His legs trembled when he felt his underwear tighten all of a sudden. His eyes met hers and he immediately knew. Her eyes were wild and seductive; she felt it too. The girl ran her hand down to his trousers and grabbed his erection.

“Oh shit!” Lenny yelped as he jumped away from her, yanking her hands away from his groin.
“Just wait…wait a minute.” He moved away from her; shivering and nervous, like a minor who was being sexually molested.

He looked to the floor, unable to look the girl in the face for some reason. She felt a smile tug on her face as she watched him. He looked so cute and innocent. But the thing was, she wanted to Bleep. That was it. She moved towards him again and grabbed his crouch with eyes filled with seduction and immediately felt Lenny stiffen in response to her touch before she moved her hands up to his shoulders again.

“Oh come on,” she groaned in ecstasy. “You can Bleep me all you want.”

Lenny turned to her with eyes wide with shock. “Wha-What?”

Suddenly, he felt the girl’s hands travelling from his shoulders, down to his lower torso once again. He felt his heart drop to his stomach when he felt her tugging at his belt. He looked down and inhaled sharply when he saw her unbuckling.

“Look,” Lenny started as he began to push her away gently. “Re-Relax, okay?”

The girl recoiled, rolled her eyes and grunted in frustration before she looked back down at him. “I don’t want to relax,” the girl groaned. “I want to Bleep! Now!” And with those words, Lenny felt her hands press against his chest and push him to the bed.

“Shit,” Lenny yelped as he felt himself slam against the soft mattress. He thought of standing back up immediately, but the girl was already straddling him, pulling up his shirt and exposing his flat chest. Lenny trembled under the touch of her cold hands rubbing his chest and his belly. As far as he was concerned, it felt so good and so wrong at the same time.

“Wait..I-,” Lenny was beginning to lose his breath. “I haven’t done this before. I mean,…I don't even know your name.”

“Ashley,” the girl spat as she began to undo his belt.

“Oh…o..okay-ehm- nice to-”

“Oh shut up already,” Ashley growled before she slid his belt out of his waist, threw it across the room and leaned down and ravaged his mouth with sloppy kisses. Lenny gasped when he felt her tongue in his mouth. He raised his hands and placed them on her shoulder as he tried to push her off, but she was determined now. The entire situation seemed a bit funny to Lenny, but at the same time, it wasn’t. This girl was forcing herself on him. She wanted to have sex with him and that was something he definitely wasn't ready for.

“Bleep.” Lenny hissed to himself; his thoughts seemed quite embarrassing. What’s her name? Ashley…she was really pretty. If he was any other guy, this situation would have probably been in reverse. Lenny was pulled out of his thoughts when he felt his jeans and his boxers being pulled down to his knees.

“Oh my!” he heard Ashley gasp before he looked down and saw her wide eyes fixed on the erect organ between his legs.

Lenny felt his face heat up as Ashley raised her wide eyes to his with a naughty smile on her face.

“You’re a big boy,” the blonde girl said as she closed in for another kiss. “Aren’t you?”

“Uhm..,” was all Lenny could utter before Ashley shoved her tongue down his throat again. After the kiss, she slid down to his chest and kissed it. She moved to the side and bit his right nipple and then when he gasped and winced in response, she looked up at him and giggled. At that point, Lenny knew he was nothing more than a intimacy gadget to her.

His entire waist went rigid when he felt her fingers wrap around his shaft. The blond girl moved down and Lenny almost went into a seizure when he felt the wetness of her lips wrap around his cock.

“Oh-oh my fucking God!” The words flew out of his mouth in a loud and trembling gasp. His entire body was shaking right under Ashley’s hold on him. He didn’t want to give in at first, but after what he was feeling now, he would be crazy to decline; but still, deep down, he felt guilty about this. Ashley’s lips kept moving up and down around Lenny’s penis and he was sure he was going to blow at any second.

“Oh God,” Lenny whimpered like a child who was about to take an injection on his buttocks. He felt his body heat up as his muscles tensed. He knew he was close, but he didn’t know how to warn her.

Was she going to like it if he came in her mouth?Lenny wasn’t sure.

The thought of it alone made him cringe and so he thought she probably wouldn’t like it. He reached down and touched her shoulders; about to pull her back and tell her to stop. He opened his mouth to protest, but stopped short when he saw Ashley suddenly raise her head up and away from between his legs.

Lenny took one look at her and immediately knew something was wrong. Her face looked pale and flushed. She may have looked drunk before but now, she looked really sick. If they were to be in a cartoon, Ashley would have probably turned green.

“I-uhm-I don’t feel so good,” Ashley groaned as she grimaced while still straddling Lenny.

“Why?” Lenny looked concerned and relieved at the same time. “Is something wrong?” Even he knew his question was stupid. He had watched this girl gulp down bottle after bottle of beer. He would even be worried if she had not gotten sick.

Lenny raised himself and balanced on his elbows. “Maybe we should stop then.” Lenny had never felt so happy to say those words.

He tried to take Ashley off his laps gently but she held his arms and stopped him. “No,” the blonde girl spat before she dropped back down; pushing Lenny back on the bed and kissing his neck as she whispered into his ears, “I’m okay.”

“Oh-are-are you sure?” Lenny stuttered.

She moved up from his neck and towered over him still straddled. Lenny could see she still looked pale, but she was fighting it. She gave him a naughty smile as she reached down and pulled her t-shirt over her head.

“Oh Lord,” Lenny whispered as his eyes widened at the sight of Ashley’s full breasts dropping before him. Ashley picked his hands from his sides and placed them on her breasts. He felt himself go hard down under in response to her erect nipples poking at his palms. He just could not believe what was happening. A few hours ago, he was being dragged out of his home by his best friend to a party he didn’t even want to go to and now here he was, sampling the breasts of a girl he had never seen before.

Lenny felt Ashley’s body stiffen before he instinctively took his eyes off the breasts that he had been looking at like he was in a trance and looked into her eyes. He felt a bit perplexed when he saw the smile on her face slowly fade away. Her smile had turned into a frown, or was it a grimace? Anyhow, Lenny could see she wasn’t comfortable anymore. Ashley took her hands off Lenny’s hands on her breast and raised them to squeeze her mouth just after she gave out a loud gasp.

“Are-are you okay?” Lenny asked with a voice that wasn’t just laced with concern, but fear. Something in his gut told him he should just take her off his laps and leave immediately, but he couldn’t do that; she looked like she needed help.

“Should I call someone?” Lenny asked again.
Ashley, with her palm still clamped to her mouth, started to sway a little. She looked like she was about to collapse. Lenny saw her cheeks puff up, and felt his heart stop. His eyes widened with realisation when he finally put the pieces together. A girl who was crazy drunk enough to have sex with him in a strange room was straddled over him with her palm covering her mouth that looked as though she was holding something back.

“Oh God No” Lenny whispered to himself in horror before he reached up and tried to push her off him. He wasn’t fast enough.

Ashley whimpered and threw her head forward just as greenish-yellow chyme gushed out of her mouth and poured on a shocked Lenny still lying below her.

She vomited on him.

“Oh my God!” Lenny screamed in horror and disbelief. “Holy fucking shit!”

He had turned his face away just before she vomited on him, but he knew he had failed when the sour taste of the vomit stung his mouth. Lenny felt rage and disgust course through him as he shoved Ashley off him and stood to his feet.

He walked away from the bed and then turned to face a disoriented Ashley lying there on the bed. “You threw up me,” Lenny growled at her before he looked down at his soaked body in disbelief. “You fucking threw up on me.”

Ashley said nothing. She just giggled at him like a naughty little girl before she fell back and passed out on the bed. She didn't even know when Lenny opened the door and stormed out of the room.

Chapter 8

Lenny staggered out of the room and shut the door behind him, leaving the blonde girl there on the bed; drunk and out-cold. He was so mad, he wanted to cry. Some of the teens standing by at the hallway scrunched and pinched thier noses as he passed by, while some others just laughed. It was the ones that looked at him like he was a piece of shit that seemed to infuriate him the most.

This had to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, and it was all Stephanie's fault. Lenny decided to look down and make his way through the hall way, down the stairs and out the fucking front door. He had gotten enough of this shit. Somehow, he knew coming to this party wasn't going to end well, but now, he was just going get in the car and leave. Yes, he was going to leave Stephanie behind. After all, her new boyfriend wouldn't mind driving her home, would he?

Lenny tasted the sour taste of vomit in his mouth again and held himself from punching the wall with rage. The bitch's vomit had gotten into his mouth. He finally got to the end of the stairs and was heading for the front door when Stephanie's voice made him stop.

"Lenny," she called. "There you are. I've been looking all over for you."

He closed his eyes and clenched his jaws, praying to God for self control before he slowly turned to see Stephanie moving towards him with Caleb not too far behind. As Stephanie got closer and closer, her eyed widened slowly until she stopped right infront of him.

"Jesus Len," she gasped as her wide eyes travelled up and down his vomit-soaked body. "What happened to you?"

Lenny looked over at Caleb who was standing beside her and saw the look of confusion and amusement on his face.

"It doesn't matter," Lenny spat. "I'm going home."

Lenny was about to turn before Stephanie held his arm to stop him. A gesture she suddenly regretted the moment she stared at the slimy liquid on her palm in disgust. She looked up from her hand and looked at Lenny. "So who's going to take me home?"

Lenny's eyes moved to Caleb and Stephanie suddenly narrowed her eyes at him.

"Your boyfriend could take you home." Lenny frowned at the both of them.

Stephanie deadpaned. "Seriously, Lenny!"

"What?" Lenny shrugged.

"He's not my boyfriend," she hissed through her teeth.

Lenny rolled his eyes to Caleb before he looked down at Stephanie. Stephanie sighed when she realised what she had just said. She turned and looked up at Caleb standing behind her with a wry smile on his face. The entire situation suddenly felt awkward. Caleb must have felt hurt; that's what she thought anyway.

Suddenly, a loud crash of what sounded like a bottle crashing made them all turn just in time for them to see a boy who was clearly angry, charge at someone screaming, "Motherfucker!"

A fight had broken out.

"What's going on?" Stephanie strained in the direction of the commotion along with Lenny and Caleb.

"I don't know," Caleb said as he started to walk towards the brawl with curiosity and Lenny and Stephanie followed right behind him.

Trevor

The moment Lisa and Trevor found a room, Trevor slammed the door shut and pinned Lisa against it before he shoved his tongue into her mouth in an overwhelming kiss. As he kissed her, he ran his hands up her body; from her thighs up to her breasts and squeezed. When Lisa felt the roughness of his hands move under her shirt and rub her belly, she gave out a gentle gasp. Trevor broke the kiss and looked into her large blue eyes. He smiled at her response to his touch. He took his eyes down to her full lips that seemed as though they were practically begging to be kissed. He remembered his hands were still her bare belly and so he moved up to her left breast and took her nipple between his fingers before pinching it gently .

“Oh God,” Lisa threw her head back and trembled in response to his touch. She looked back down at him and saw a dirty smile playing on his face.

“You like that, don’t you?” Trevor’s whisper was seductive as his fingers kept fiddling with Lisa’s nipple. Lisa was so lost in ecstasy; she couldn’t find the strength to answer. She quickly pulled Trevor close to her and pressed her lips to his in another passionate kiss.

Trevor felt her sucking on his lips just before she lifted herself off the door and they both moved towards the bed at the middle of the room. Trevor kept moving till the back of his legs hit the bed. Lisa pulled away and pushed him down into the mattress and Trevor immediately fell back; smirking up at her. Lisa smiled at him seductively as she dropped down in front of him and crawled up his torso slowly. She stopped above his belt and began to unbuckle it and looked at him while doing it.

“We are going to start our own party right here,” she purred.

“Fine by me,” Trevor chuckled.

She undid his belt; left it unbuckled and moved up to his mouth for another kiss.

They both sucked on their lips and drove each other crazy with the movement of their tongues and the sensual motions of their bodies against each other. Lisa buried her head in the side of his neck and began to suck on his skin quite gently as she felt Trevor drive his hands from the top of her back, down to her ass. Few seconds later,Lance’s face flashed in his mind and he suddenly opened his eyes. Trevor immediately realised that for some reason, he wasn’t aroused anymore. He suddenly felt Lisa drag her hands down the side of his body until she stopped at the middle of his legs and grabbed his crouch.

She pulled away from his neck and gave him a naughty smile. “I guess I’m going to have to work harder, huh?” Trevor gave her a nervous smile before she slid down his waist and unzipped his jean trouser down before she dug her face into the side of his neck again. Trevor suddenly began to feel uneasy and he didn’t know why. A few minutes ago, he wanted this. He had told himself that he was going to Bleep Lisa’s brain out in this room while everyone was busy partying down stairs, but now here he was; his sexual appetite dropping from his body like the sweat on his skin. He gave out a quiet but somewhat depressing sigh and as he had expected, Lisa raised her face from his neck.

“What’s wrong?” Lisa’s voice and eyes were laced with concern as she studied him.

Trevor looked at his girlfriend and smiled, but even Lisa knew his smile was forced.

“It’s nothing,” Trevor said as she shrugged in confusion. “I just –I don’t know. I don’t really-”
Lisa raised her hand to the side of his face and caressed it with a kind smile on her face; as if to calm him down. Trevor looked up at her and she could see that even he himself didn’t know how to explain his feelings.

“It’s okay,” she said with the kind smile still on her face as she gently caressed his blonde hair; brushing them backwards with her fingers.“You’re kind of stressed up. I understand.”

Trevor blinked at her and furrowed his brows.

“I mean, with how intense everything is getting in school right now; exams and the match coming up,” she said as she moved her hands from his head to his shoulders. “I can understand if you’re stressed out. I know I am.”

Trevor raised his brows opened his mouth to say something, but then closed them again and smiled at her. He suddenly felt the guilt crawl up his gut when he realised Lisa was wrong. He wasn’t stressed about anything. Yes, it was the final days of High school for him and his friends and everything was becoming more intense, but that wasn’t enough to stress him up at all. He knew the reason why he wasn’t responding to Lisa’s advances all of a sudden; advances that he had partly initiated himself and frankly, it was beginning to piss him off. He knew why, but just didn’t want to admit it.

“…And then there’s the bet,” Lisa sighed as she stood up from the bed. Trevor raised his head and kept his eyes on her as she adjusted her skirt and patted in gently to make it proper and neat while she walked to the door and turned to him with the smile still on her face. “That alone must be hell for you, huh?”

Trevor gave her a wry smile and sighed as he drove his fingers through his hair. At least she was close this time. How was he going to tell her he had kissed Lance? How was he supposed to explain the confusing feelings he had developed for him? And now, she had just reminded him about the bet. Trevor’s head dropped and his eyes were trained on the floor.

Then, there was a low rumble from downstairs; the sound of boys screaming in anger and bottles crashing that could not even be drowned out by the loud music. Something was definitely happening. Trevor raised his head up and saw the look of confusion and curiosity on Lisa’s face as well as she listened in.

“What’s going on down there?” Lisa asked with a voice laced with perplexity.

Trevor finally got up from the bed. “I don’t know,” he said as he moved towards the door. “Let’s go find out.”

Lisa and Trevor left the room and closed the door behind them.

Chapter 9

“What the hell is going on?” Those were the first words that fell out of Trevor’s mouth when he went out into the hallway, hopped down the stairs and ran into Caleb, Stephanie and Lenny in the crowd .

“I don’t know,” Caleb shrugged as he dragged Stephanie along; moving towards the commotion with Lisa, Trevor and Lenny in tow.

Lisa scrunched her nose and looked around her. “What’s that smell?”

Lenny immediately stiffened when he realised Lisa was close to him. He tried very hard not to look her way. From the side of his eyes, he saw Lisa pause when her eyes landed on him, but then she quickly looked away.

The five of them were at the small gathering, straining and trying to catch a glimpse of the source of the commotion.

“What are they doing,” Stephanie asked as she stood on her toes and stretched her neck; trying to get a peek of the obvious brawl ahead of the towering figures before her. Damn, she never thought she was this short.

“Kick his ass!” A boy screamed.

“Fucking gay!” Another boy screamed.

“Get the Bleep out of here! This isn’t a fucking gay bar!” Another yelled.

“Guys, just leave him alone!” a random girl screamed.

Stephanie heard the roars and shouts and suddenly felt herself fall sick in the stomach. Who could they be yelling at? Her heart hand already answered that question, but she didn’t want to believe it. I mean, what could he be doing here in the first place? She turned and saw Caleb; who was obviously taller than she was and had a better view of the commotion. Caleb looked away and turned to her and then looked back at Trevor and Lisa in confusion.

“It’s Tiffin,” Caleb said.

“Shit,” Lenny spat.

“What?” Stephanie gasped before she left the four of them behind and started to squeeze her way through the cheering spectators.

“Steph!” She heard Lenny yell from behind her, but she ignored him as she squeezed, manoeuvred and pushed until she finally fell out in the middle of the crowd and was thrown into a sight that made her blood run cold.

Stephanie widened her eyes when she saw Lance being tossed around as he received punches from a group of boys that had gathered around him. Lance looked like hell. He was already bleeding from his nose and judging from the way he was staggering and the careless smile on his face, she immediately knew he was probably drunk.

“Go home you fucking gay!” One of the boys roared as he pushed Lance away.

Lance landed on another one of the four boys who pushed him off again in disgust, as if Lance was nothing more than a disease he did not want to be infected with. Lance spun and quickly swung at one of the boys as he screamed, “Bleep you!” But he missed. After the boy had successfully dodged Lance’s attack, he threw his own punch and wasn’t as unlucky as Lance. The boy’s fist struck Lance in the face so hard, even Stephanie knew that was the hardest punch he had received so far when she saw him stagger and drop to the ground.

“No!” Stephanie screamed as she pushed forward and fell to her knees right beside Lance. She suddenly cupped his face in her hands and was glad to see he wasn’t unconscious. “Lance?” She said in urgency as her hands travelled down and shook his shoulders. “Lance can you hear me?”

“Get the Bleep out of here you piece of shit!” one of the boys came forward and screamed.

‘Yeah!” another boy followed. “No one invited you, you miserable fucker!” ……and then he spat on Lance.

The moment the saliva hit Lance’s body, Stephanie lost it. She immediately charged forward and slapped the boy on the face, hard. “Get lost!” Stephanie screamed in rage as she herself couldn't even believe what she was doing or what had come over her.

After she had slapped the boy, he paused. Shocked and somewhat ashamed that someone as minute and as insignificant as the red haired girl before him had slapped him ……. in front of everyone, he sure as hell wasn’t going to let that go.

The boy held the side of his face and glared at her before he charged at her. “You crazy bitch!” The boy growled as he held her arm and tried to pull her off the floor. But then he stopped when he felt someone grab him by his shoulder and squeeze.

He spun.

“If you touch her..,” Caleb’s voice was calm and relaxed as he glared at the boy. “..I’ll break your fucking neck.”

Without thinking twice and with his eyes still on Caleb, the boy let Stephanie go. Stephanie took her attention back to a disoriented Lance lying there before Lenny suddenly appeared beside her.

“Is he hurt badly?” Lenny asked with a voice laced with concern.

“I don’t know,” Stephanie looked confused. “Maybe we should take him to-”

“I-I’m not going …anywhere,” Lance cut her off immediately as he lifted the upper half of his body off the floor.

“Dude,” Lenny said. “You look hurt.”

“Bleep you,” Lance hissed before he spat out the blood he had sucked off his busted lip. He grimaced in response to the pain that tore through his body as he pulled himself off the floor.

Stephanie reached forward to help him up, but he shrugged her off. “Get off me,” Lance hissed.

Stephanie recoiled and blinked at him. “I’m just trying to help.”

“O yeah? Well I don’t need it,” Lance spat.

“Go home gay!” someone shouted from the crowd.

“No one wants you here!” Another person screamed.

Then, from nowhere, a plastic cup containing beer slammed against Lance’s face splashing beer all over his body with a few drops landing on Lenny and Stephanie behind him. Lance paused before a passive aggressive smile appeared on his face. He spun to the crowd around him with the smile still on his face. But then his eyes landed on Trevor and his eyes suddenly softened. The smile slowly faded. Trevor kept his eyes on Lance for a while, before blinking away the moment he heard Bruce’s voice.

“What the hell is going on here?” Bruce squeezed his way through the crowd with Nadia and Aaron right behind him before his eyes landed on Lance. “What is he doing here?”

“Who invited you?” Aaron spat.

Amused, Lance looked to the ground below him before he started to chuckle. He looked up at Bruce again with the annoying smile on his face. “I’m part of the football team, right?”

“So?” Aaron barely allowed him to finish.

Lance shrugged in amusement at the expressions on the faces of Bruce and Aaron. “So,” he said. “Isn’t that an automatic invitation?”

“No it’s not,” One of the boys that had beaten him up growled.

“Get the Bleep out of here,” Bruce hissed.

Lance looked away from Bruce and glanced in Trevor’s direction. At that same moment, Trevor glanced in Lance's direction as well. Lance didn't know why, but he felt as if Trevor should have said something. He was actually waiting for Trevor to say something, but Trevor looked away again; adjusting his hands over Lisa's shoulders and pulled her close to him.

"Get out of my house, Tiffin!" Bruce growled impatiently.

"Okay you can stop," Stephanie countered Bruce vehemently. "He's going, okay?" She turned back to Lance. "Come on," she said as she grabbed his arm. "Let's go."

She suddenly felt someone grab a hold of her arm before she spun. "Wait," Caleb said. "You're...you're leaving?"

"Yes."

Caleb looked back at Bruce and Aaron before he took his eyes back to Stephanie. "Okay fine," he said as he steadied himself. "But at least let me drop you guys off."

Stephanie looked at Lance and then back at Lenny before she took her hesitant eyes to Caleb again. "I don't know," she said.

"I'm not going anywhere with you," Lance finally uttered without even looking at Stephanie and Caleb.

Lance looked back at Bruce and Aaron and then threw his eyes at Trevor again and was glad he was looking at him again at least, but whatever, he didn't care.

He shrugged Stephanie's arms off his shoulders and headed straight out the door.

When Lance got outside, he heard Stephanie calling out to him as she ran after him while he made his way down the drive way.

"Come on Lance!" She screamed. "You're hurt and you're drunk. Let's take you home!"

Lance ignored her and kept moving. Stephanie eventually caught up with his and grabbed him by the arm. "Lance come on! Don't be-!"

Lance turned and pushed her away. "Leave me the Bleep alone bitch!" He roared in rage.

"Okay," Lenny appeared and raised his hand in surrender as he started to pull Stephanie away. "Okay...okay, we're sorry. Alright?"

Lance looked at Stephanie and saw her eyes welling with tears, before he turned and walked away, leaving Lenny and Stephanie behind.

He had gotten just three blocks away when a car moved up to his side. He ignored it at first, but when he heard the loud horn, he jumped and spun.

He bent low and narrowed his eyes at who was on the drivers and then paused. He thought he was hallucinating. The car came to a stop right beside him.

"What do you want?" Lance asked.

"Don't make this harder than it already is for me," Trevor said. "Just get in the car. Please."

Chapter 10

The first one hundred and twenty seconds in the car were quiet. Trevor had his eyes on the road and his hands on the wheel, while Lance had his face turned to his window; looking out at the tree swooshing by in green blurs in the night. His lips still stung, the sharp pain was still on his right side and his neck hurt when he tried to turn. He raised his fingers and touched the space between his nose and his mouth. For a moment, he had forgotten he was bleeding and some of the blood there had dried now.

“Here,” Lance heard Trevor’s voice before he turned to him and saw him stretching a piece of what looked like tissue paper towards him.

Lance took his eyes away from the offering and faced the road before him. “No thanks.”

“Dude, you’re bleeding.”

“I’ll wash my nose when I get home.”

Trevor gave out a frustrated sigh before he dropped his arm. “Stop acting like a girl, man.”

Lance turned to him and scowled. “Bleep you.”

“Hey,” Trevor darted his eyes from the road to Lance and then back to the road. “It wasn’t my fault you got your ass kicked.”

“Just shut the hell up and take me home please,” Lance countered with his eyes trained forward.

There was silence for about thirty seconds or more, before Trevor spoke again. “What the hell were you doing there anyway?” he asked. “’cause I sure as hell know Bruce didn’t invite you over.”

Lance said nothing. He kept his eyes forward and seemed to glare at the darkness before him.

“You’re lucky you know,” Trevor went on. “The guys had you beat up in public.”

Lance turned his eyes to Trevor. It pissed him off a little at how relaxed Trevor appeared to be. What was he really doing in his car anyway?

Trevor shrugged and went on. “Normally they would have taken you out and beaten you up real good.”

Lance’s brows furrowed. Disbelief immediately flooded his features as his eyes seemed to bore in Trevor. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
The insensitive bastard.

Lance then looked away; throwing his eyes out the windscreen while holding himself from reaching out and punching Trevor in the face. As mad as he was, he also felt like an idiot. He had watched Trevor and Lisa leave the party and head up stairs. He didn’t even want to imagine what they had been doing there. He had wanted to block it all out because the hurt was way too much for him to handle. He had heard about the party and he had also dragged his ass out here to see if he could finally clear the air about what was going on between them. But instead, he came over and met someone who wasn’t even willing look at him, let alone talk to him. He had spent close to twenty-five minutes in a bus to get here, only to get slapped in the face with the fact that he had just wasted his time. He was getting drunk and close to sobbing as he drowned himself in alcohol downstairs, while Trevor and Lisa were busy fucking their brains out just above him. The pain was excruciating and remembering it alone seemed to make his eyes water a little.

Now, here they were, he had offered to take him home and he had agreed. A part of Lance seemed to think that after seeing what had happened to him back there, Trevor would want to know why he really came over. He thought Trevor would want to know why he had gotten himself drunk and pissed off a group of boys enough for them to beat him silly. But no. Instead, Trevor was being a jerk. Telling him how lucky he was that they had not taken him to a dark alley or something beaten him severely. Lance coughed out a passive aggressive smile. A smile that seemed to show how mad he was getting. A smile that seemed to show he was about to explode. Even Trevor looked over and immediately knew Lance was seething.

“Why do-”

“Pull over,” Lance cut Trevor off bluntly.

Trevor looked at him. “What?”

“Stop that car.”

Trevor looked out the car into the world around him. There was nothing but trees everywhere. Not a single house in sight. Not even a bus station or a shop, just a thick sea of greenery and tall trees for miles. So why the hell did he want to drop off here? Trevor turned back to Lance with a look of confusion. “Sorry dude,” he said. “Can’t do that.”

Lance raised his hands and combed his fingers through his black hair with impatience and frustration. “Trevor please stop the car,” Lance was seething.

“Dude I can't do that.”

"Stop the car, Trevor."

"I said I ca-."

Lance suddenly exploded. He punched the dashboard hard and screamed with rage, “Stop the fucking car!”

Trevor flinched in response as if dodging a hit to the face before he turned to Lance and felt himself getting angry. He looked back to the road and felt his blood beginning to boil. He wasn’t going to take this shit.

“Fine!” Trevor roared before he slowed the car down and pressed the breaks. When the car stopped, he spun to Lance, stretched across Lance and opened his door. “Go ahead, get the Bleep out.”

Lance’s eyes immediately softened. His anger seemed to have evaporated when he saw Trevor’s response. A response he clearly did not expect. Perhaps he had expected him to be more endearing.

“You’re an asshole,” Lance shook his head and said.

“Get the Bleep out of my car you fucking gay!” Trevor roared again. “Get out!”

Lance’s face fell. The blood drained from his face. He could not believe what he had just heard. Was Trevor really this much of an asshole?

“What did you call me?” Lance asked.

“You wanted to leave,” Trevor spat as he took his eyes back to the road. “So, leave.”

Lance blinked away from Trevor and his eyes landed on the dashboard infront. He seemed lost in thought. He seemed far away. Trevor wasn’t looking at him, but he knew. Lance started to chuckle; another gesture Trevor knew only went on to show how mad he was.

“Can’t believe how stupid I was to think-,” Lance paused.

Trevor turned and looked at him before he faced his windscreen again without saying a word. Lance stared at the dashboard for a while before he turned away and moved out of the car; slamming the door shot as he walked away. Trevor kept his eyes forward for a while, fighting the temptation to look back before he finally gave in. He spun and was shocked to see Lance walking across the road and disappearing in the forest and trees far behind.

“What the hell..” Trevor hissed with perplexity as he strained to get a better look. “Where the hell is he going?”

He had thought he would walk down to the closest bus-stop and catch a bus or something, but no. He had just seen him match into the woods. What the hell was he going to do in the woods?

Trevor turned away and stared at the road before him for a while.

“Bleep him,” he thought. He wasn’t getting involved any longer. He had gotten enough of Lance’s drama. Trevor reached forward and twisted the key in the ignition and the car engine roared to life. He took his leg off the brakes and started to move the car away from its current position. He had gotten a few meters away from where he had last seen Lance before he stopped and switched off the engine.

A certain realisation had just hit him; one that seemed to make sense. Lance might be a jackass, but he was only eighteen and he had just walked into the woods all alone. He was slightly drunk, disoriented and angry, but most importantly…he was all alone. Anything could happen to him. Trevor made it clear to himself that he did not care; at least that’s what he kept saying in his head. The fact was, he was the last person everyone at the party had seen with Lance. Many people had seen Lance get into his car and they had also seen them drive off together. If anything were to happen to Lance or if Lance were to be reported missing at any point in time, Trevor would be in deep shit with the authorities. Even though he would have nothing to do with it, he didn’t have any witnesses or alibi for that matter. Everyone had last seen Lance with him.

“Shit!” Trevor roared with rage as he started to punch the steering wheel repeatedly. What the hell was he thinking? Why the hell did he offer to drive Lance home for Christ sake?

“Bleep!” Trevor yelled again as he punched the wheel one last time. After sitting there for a few seconds, trying to catch his breath, he looked into the clock on the dashboard.

11:56PM

He thanked God his Mom was on night duty today. He started the car and moved back to the point where he had last seen Lance. He stopped the car, switched off the engine and walked out the door, slamming the door behind him vehemently and shoving the car keys into his pocket.

He looked up at the giants of greenery before him; giant green towers standing and towering over him with the darkness beyond terrifying him. Trevor knew there was nothing he could do. As exhausting and annoying as the entire situation was, Lance was his responsibility. He swallowed hard and licked his lips before he exhaled and started to match towards the woods at the side of the road, praying that his decision to go after Lance wouldn’t be the second mistake he would make that night.

Chapter 11

Trevor wasn't sure where he was or where Lance had gone, but his eyes landed on a narrow path in the bushes and he was pretty sure Lance must have followed the path and so he followed, not knowing where it would lead to. The night air was cool and damp and the leaves and grassed that stroked Trevor's bare skin were wet. Crickets and frogs could be heard chirping and croaking, but he could not see them. Instead, he kept his eyes peeled for bigger problems like bears or mountain lions, or even racoons. God he hated racoons. He kept kicking his feet against large stones and rocks and was suddenly thankful he was wearing sneakers.

He finally walked out of the bushes; dusting the leaves off his shirt and his trousers before he looked up and saw one of the most beautiful sights he had ever seen in his life.

“Wow,” Trevor didn’t know when the word dropped out of his mouth in a whisper.

The sky was a deep blue with billions of tiny glittering dots. The large glowing silver moon hung half way into the sky; like its setting day time counterpart. Trevor looked to the floor and felt his heart warm up within his chest at the sight of the reflections of the moon and stars on the lake, as though they were beneath the ground. The lake looked like a gigantic mirror on the ground. The trees, the hills, the stars and the moon all had their reflections in the large body of water.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Lance’s calm voice caused Trevor to look to his right. Lance was just sitting there on the pebble filled ground; his knees rose to his chest and his eyes were fixed on the world before him.

Trevor said nothing. He took his eyes back to the lake and inhaled the air around him that felt so pure. The gentle night breeze ruffled his hair and seemed to calm him. He glanced back at Lance who still had his attention on the lake, the moon and the stars ahead. Trevor’s brows furrowed slightly when he saw smoke escaping from Lance’s lips. He was even more surprised when he saw the white roll of paper in-between his fingers.

“Dude, you smoking weed?” The question flew out of Trevor’s mouth involuntarily.

Lance was quiet. He didn’t even care to glance at him.

Trevor kept his eye on Lance for a while, before he looked away and threw his eyes back to the lake. The boys just stayed there, silent and observant. The only sounds were coming from the gentle rustling of the tree leaves and the chirping crickets. Trevor caught sight of a group of fire-flies dancing and glittering in the darkness. He wondered how Lance had found this place. He just couldn’t believe there was a place this beautiful in Kentworth. He was completely amazed and actually happy he had followed Lance out here, but of course , he wasn’t going to let Lance know that.

“This is my sanctuary,” Lance said in a calm voice as if answering Trevor’s questions. “My only home.”

Trevor glanced at Lance and saw a peaceful and longing smile on his face as he watched the fire-flies dancing above the lake. He saw the way he threw his head backwards and closed his eyes; savouring the night breeze as it pushed his black curls backwards. Trevor watched him for a while and started to get that funny feeling in his gut. That feeling that seemed to draw him to Lance. He watched him and realised how honest he was when he said this was his only home. Trevor kept his eyes on the oblivious dark haired boy and fought the smile that was playing on his face.

“Why?” Trevor asked.

“Why what?” Lance replied with his eyes still closed and his head still tilted back.

“Why do you like it out here?”

Lance brought his head down, opened his eyes and trained them at the lake. “Why not?” Lance uttered with his eyes still avoiding Trevor. “It’s beautiful.”

Trevor watched him, expecting him to say more, but when he didn’t, he looked away.

“And besides..,” Lance went on and Trevor looked back at him. “This is where my friends are.”

Trevor furrowed his brows in confusion. “Your what?"

“My friends.” Lance still didn’t look at him. “The trees, the crickets, the fire-flies…” Lance paused and looked to the sky. “…even the lake, the moon and the stars, they are all my friends.”

Trevor looked amused. He thought Lance had lost his mind. He wanted to burst out with laughter, but when he saw the sincerity on Lance’s face, he held back. “And they are your friends because…?”

Lance exhaled and said, “..Because I can talk to them. I can tell them anything. I can be myself around them ….and they wouldn’t judge me. They wouldn’t treat me like shit..” he paused and finally turned his bloodshot eyes to Trevor with a blank expression on his face. “…or call me a gay.”

Trevor felt his heart drop to his stomach when he saw Lance’s blood shot eyes. He had been crying. The guilt that tore through Trevor was unbearable as Lance kept his eyes on him as if waiting for a reply, but then, Trevor turned his eyes away and looked out at the lake. Lance watched him for a while, smiled and looked away himself. Once again, the night was thrown into silence as neither one of the boys uttered a word.

“I’m sorry.” The words hit Lance unexpectedly. He spun to face Trevor who was staring at him already with eyes that seemed unsure.

“What?” Lance uttered to make sure he heard correctly.

Trevor looked away and repeated the words as if they were razors tearing at his throat every time he spoke. “I’m.... sorry.”

Lance kept his eyes on Trevor for a while before he pulled himself off the ground and started to move to him. It was quite surprising to see the look on Trevor’s face when he turned and saw Lance walking towards him. He almost looked scared….and apologetic at the same time.

Lance stopped right in front of him and studied him as he looked down to his feet. “Trevor, I’m not looking for an apology.”

Trevor looked up at him in confusion. “So….what do you want then?”

“An explanation,” Lance said as he searched his blue eyes. “Closure, Trevor…I need closure.”

Trevor looked away. “I-I don’t understand.”

Lance paused for a bit before he swallowed and even Trevor felt the weight of his next words before they even came. “I have feelings for you, Trevor.”

Trevor swiftly darted his eyes to Lance’s sincere features. He didn’t believe Lance had just said that. Why did he just say that? Trevor felt his stomach flip. He was beginning to feel sick. He felt his heart beginning to race as he kept his eyes on Lance, and so he looked away again.

“I mean..,” Lance shrugged. “I just … I don’t want an apology. I just want know why you chose me as your tutor.”

Trevor glanced at him and felt he didn’t want to know the answer to that question.

“I want to know why you came after me when I went to the club with Jacques back in France,” Lance went on and watched as Trevor raked his fingers through his blonde hair and held himself from turning away. “I want to know why you kissed me, Trevor.”

Trevor looked at Lance again and held himself from telling him to shut up, but he knew that would be stupid because he actually did kiss him.

“Trevor,” Lance uttered.

Trevor looked at him in response.

“Do you feel the same?” Lance question confused Trevor completely.

Trevor was about to scream and tell Lance to Bleep off as usual, but for some reason, he could not. He kept looking into Lance’s green eyes and didn’t even know when his features had softened. There was something in Lance’s eyes that begged for his honesty. He felt he owed Lance this at least.

“Please, Trevor,” Lance asked. “Just tell me.”

It was really painful for Trevor to see Lance like this. He saw the look on Lance’s and he saw a boy who was fed up. He saw a boy who wanted answers. He saw someone who was tired of going through the pains he was entitled to because of who he was. It shocked Trevor that he was actually fighting the urge to reach out and wrap Lance in his arms in a warm embrace. He wanted to tell Lance that it was all going to be okay.

Trevor sighed and licked his lips. The words were hanging on his throat just like the voice in his head kept saying to him. “Tell him the truth.” He looked at Lance’s expectant green eyes and opened his mouth to speak.

Suddenly, a heavy buzzing sound struck the peaceful air; cutting him off and stopping him from saying what he wanted to say. He looked down at his pocket and pulled out his phone. He looked into the screen and sighed. At that point, Lance saw his expression and immediately knew who was calling.

It was Lisa.

Trevor tapped the screen and pressed his phone to his ear. “Hey.”

“Babe,” Lisa said, slightly louder than usual as she tried to raise her voice above the loud music and the cheers in the background. “Where are you?”

Trevor instinctively looked at Lance and saw a weak smile play on his face as if he had heard Lisa’s question.

“Ehm-I just dropped..I mean.. I had to drop someone off,” Trevor lied.

“Really?” Lisa asked. “Who?”

“That’s not important,” he said as he looked up and saw Lance turn away while shaking his head. “Just a friend from the team who was too drunk to drive.”

Lance gave a loud chuckle even as he was backing Trevor as he moved away. He was amazed at how Trevor could lie and tell the truth at the same time.

“Okay, well you’re gonna have to come take me home,” Lisa said.

“Wha-Why?” Trevor asked as he glanced at Lance who was dropping back to his sitting position on the pebbled ground. Even a slowpoke could see he was angry as hell.

“Why?” Lisa uttered from the other side of the line, unable to hide her sarcasm. “Jeez I don’t know, maybe it’s because I don’t have a car.”

Trevor took his eyes off Lance and turned away; trying to concentrate on his girlfriend over the phone. “Sorry babe. I just… it’s just….I thought you were going to ride home with Nadia and Megan.”

Lisa scoffed. “Yeah well that plan changed when they both decided to sleep over at Bruce’s house after the party.”

“Why don’t you want to sleep over?” Trevor didn’t really know why he was asking that question.

“Because my dad would probably kill me if he finds out I didn’t sleep home this night,” Lisa replied bluntly. “Plus, he obviously knows we’re dating now, which kind of puts you in trouble too……if you know what I mean.”

Trevor didn’t need ask again. He definitely knew what she meant. With the phone still pressed to his ear, he spun and glanced in Lance’s direction in time to see him take a drag of his white roll of weed. He kept his eyes on him while thinking of the next thing to tell Lisa. Trevor didn’t want to leave Lance; just like he didn’t want to leave Lisa too.

“Trevor, are you there?” Lisa’s asked.

“Yeah,” Trevor sighed. “Yeah, I’m here.”

“So,” she said. “You coming?”

“Ehm..,” Trevor uttered as he kept his eyes on Lance. “Yeah. I’ll be there in five.”

“Okay, cool,” was all Lisa said, before she hung up.

Trevor dropped the phone and sighed. He kept his eyes on Lance while driving his fingers through his hair. He then walked to Lance and stood by him. Lance didn’t even look up but Trevor was okay with that because he knew he was pissed.

“Come on,” Trevor said. “We’ve got to go. I have to pick up Lisa after.”

“I’ll take the bus,” Lance answered bluntly without even looking at Trevor.

Trevor looked away from the lake and looked down at Lance who was blowing out smoke from his mouth. “Dude, it’s twelve thirty in the morning,” Trevor said. “It’s not safe.”

Lance scoffed with his attention still on the lake before him. “What am I, your little sister?”

Trevor sighed and rolled his eyes in frustration before he reached down and grabbed a hold of Lance’s ram in an attempt to pull him up. “Seriously Lance, we don’t have-”.

“Get the Bleep off me!” Lance spun and roared at Trevor as he yanked his arm away from his grip. “Leave me the fvck alone!”

Trevor moved back in shock at Lance’s response. “What’s your problem?”

“Are you deaf?” Lance growled between his teeth. “I said I’m taking the fucking bus, so leave me the fvck alone.”

Trevor watched as Lance took his attention back to the lake and took another drag of his weed. He watched Lance for a little while, perhaps waiting for an apology, but it never came. Trevor then turned away and walked towards the nearby bushes. Before he walked into the woods, he stopped and slowly spun to get one last look at Lance. Trevor felt a sharp pain in his heart when he saw Lance down on the floor with his head lowered to his knees and his entire shoulders jerking in quick movement. Trevor thought he was cold and shivering at first, but it took him few more seconds to realize he wasn’t shivering. He was sobbing.

Lance was crying.

Holding himself from running back was the hardest thing Trevor had ever done in a very long time. He then remembered Lance’s words.

“Leave me the fvck alone.”

He quickly spun away took a deep breath and disappeared in to the woods. He walked down the forest until he got to the road, found his car and drove back to the party to pick up Lisa and take her home.

As he drove, he kept wiping the tears off his cheeks. The last thing he wanted was for his girlfriend to see him crying.

Chapter 12

It was Monday. Trevor and his friends were gathered at the cafeteria like always. They had English earlier and had just finished Algebra; a course that did well to remind him of Lance. Trevor and Lance were meant to have a study session that Saturday, but after what transpired at the lake on Friday night; the night of Bruce’s birthday party, Trevor was sceptical about Lance showing up. Throughout that day, Trevor had been checking his phone for a missed call or at least a message from Lance. He was expecting an explanation from Lance and that was really stupid. Even though seeing Lance cry had sickened him to tears, he had convinced himself that he had done nothing wrong. Even when he sat there in his car, driving Lisa back to her house, and the sight of a crying Lance flashed in his head, and guilt was tearing through him, he still managed to convince himself that he did nothing wrong. Lisa was his girlfriend and she needed him. He had to go.

That’s why it was perplexing to Trevor, why he checked his phone for missed calls or messages from Lance when he woke up this morning. He was even more worried at the fact that he had not seen Lance in school today at all; not even at Algebra.

The group was locked in a conversation about how it sucked that their final exams were in two weeks and that they also had to worry about the tedious cheerleading and football practice for the upcoming friendly match with McKinley high school.

“We’ve got a four hour practice today after school,” Aaron whined and looked at Nadia. “Can you believe that? Four!”

“Tell me about it,” Lisa added. “My ankles are already killing me. Thanks to that routine Mrs. Keller introduced at the last minute.”

“Girl,” Nadia uttered in frustration. “That shit is hard.”

“I honestly don’t know how we are going to learn that move without breaking every bone in our body,” Megan said without even looking up from her phone.

“We could just forfeit,” Nadia shrugged as she pulled a slice of tomato from the middle of her burger and threw it into her mouth.

Lisa rolled her eyes. “Yeah, right.”

“Guys come on,” Caleb said. “These are our final days in High school. We should just stop complaining and make the most of it.”

“Nigga please,” Aaron spat. “If I could leave this shit-hole today, I would.”

Nadia and Lisa threw their heads back in laughter as Caleb chuckled while shaking his head. Nadia then looked up at him for a while and then her eyes widened as if she had remembered something. “Oh, before I forget,” she gasped slightly. “..school campaign from Prom king and queen starts today.”

“Now that’s what I’m really excited about,” Bruce snickered and turned his mischievous eyes to Trevor. “Prom.”

Lisa rolled her eyes and sighed. “Oh God.”

Nadia chuckled in response to Lisa’s gesture. “Don’t worry girl,” she said. “It will all be over soon.”

“Hey, saw Lance getting in your car on the night of Bruce’s birthday after they beat his gay ass up,” Aaron said with a puzzled look on his face. “What was that about?”

When Trevor heard that question, he felt his stomach tighten with apprehension. He saw Lisa turn to face him from the side of his eyes and suddenly felt his mouth go dry. Trevor looked over at Bruce who still had that condescending smile on his face and then he looked back to Aaron who was obviously waiting for an answer.

“I-uhm-I took him home,” Trevor said.

“Awww,” Nadia squealed as she tilted her head to the side and pressed her palm to her chest with her eyes of admiration fixed on Trevor. “So sweet.”

Aaron turned to Nadia and frowned with disgust. “Stop....please.”

“What!” Nadia scowled at her boyfriend.

“Lance was the one you took home last night?” Lisa’s voice was calm and eerie.

Trevor turned to face Lisa’s eyes boring into him. “Ye-yeah,” he replied with a shrug; trying to make it look like it was nothing.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Lisa asked.

Trevor turned to her again. “…Because I didn’t feel the need to.”

“Trevor,” she shifted in her seat. “You told me it wasn’t important.”

“Because it wasn’t,” he replied with confusion taking over his features now. “Why are you acting like this?”

Lisa opened her mouth and closed it again with her intense eyes still on Trevor. She exhaled heavily and turned back to her meal. “You know what?” She said. “Just forget it.”

Trevor dropped his shoulders, looked to the ceiling and sighed heavily. How is it possible for someone to unintentionally piss off two people in just four days? He brought his head down and watched Lisa typing in her phone and chewing on her lettuce before moving close to her.

“Lisa,” he started. “The guy was drunk alright? If he went home all by himself, he could have been hurt.”

Lisa looked up to Trevor and blinked. “Oh so what, you’re his father now?”

“Uhm-his boyfriend actually,” Bruce snickered and Aaron and Nadia guffawed.

Trevor turned and gave them a deadly glare. He really wished they weren’t here right now. But then, it hit him. Bruce had just made him remember something;…the bet.

“Honestly Trev,” Lisa’s voice felt tired. “I mean, I have no issues with you dropping people off or anything, but the fact that I asked you who and you told me it was not important,…..that’s just…..i don’t know,.. weird.”

Trevor looked to the floor and sighed. He was about to hit her with another lie. He looked up to her with soft blue eyes and said, “You’re right. I’m sorry.”

Lisa’s brows raised slightly, a sign that she was expecting him to say more.

Trevor looked over at Caleb and the others and then back to her. “It hasn’t been easy, but I dropping Lance off that night was just one of the steps I had to take for-you know-for him to like me.”

Lisa’s brows furrowed in confusion as she looked over at Aaron and Bruce, before looking back at her boyfriend. “You mean….the bet?”

Trevor nodded with a wry smile on his face. “Prom is almost here you know.”

Lisa looked away slowly and in time to see Aaron and Bruce snickering at each other. But however, at that same moment, Trevor caught Megan and Caleb staring at each other mysteriously. It was even more awkward when Megan caught Trevor looking at her and then she swiftly looked away. She totally avoided his gaze. Trevor looked over at Caleb again and saw him concentrating on his food.

“God,” Lisa said with her narrow eyes still in Aaron and Bruce. “You guys are real pricks.” But both boys just replied with a mocking laughter.

Trevor watched Lisa glaring at the morons for a few seconds, before he slowly reached for her hand. Lisa turned and looked at him. “Really sorry I pissed you off though,” Trevor said with a weak smile, while savouring the internal relief he was feeling that he had gotten this over with. His relief then came in waves when he finally saw Lisa holding down a naughty smile.

“Is your mum gonna be home tonight?” Lisa asked.

“What?” Trevor raised a brow.

“Is your mum going to be home or not,” Nadia threw her words in with a mischievous smile on her face.

Trevor smirked as he moved his eye from Lisa to Nadia, and then back to Lisa. “No.”

“Good,” Lisa gave him a smug smile.

Trevor then felt Lisa pull up close to him until he could feel her warm sweet breath on his face. “I guess I’ll know whether to forgive you or not…….” She moved to his ear. “…..after tonight.”

“Ooooh shit,” Aaron uttered with a mischievous smile.

“That’s right girl,” Nadia squealed in excitement as she gave Lisa a high-five. “Go over to his house tonight and make him apologise properly.”

Trevor said nothing. He just chuckled.

Anyway, few hours later, school was over and the boys had their four hours of practice afterwards and so did the girls. Lisa and Trevor were both tired when they got to Trevor's house by eight that evening. Their bodies were aching, but that didn’t stop them from fucking their brains out. They had barely entered the house when they started shoving their tongues down their throats.

First, it was the missionary position on the sitting room couch and then they carried it upstairs to the doggy position on Trevor’s bed. They both went in for a shower and Trevor thought he would finish it off there by shoving her against the wall. By the time they were done, it was one-thirty in the morning, and so Lisa decided to sleep over as she and Trevor had called Nadia to tell her parents that she was sleeping over at her house with Megan. Nadia was more than happy to help.

Trevor laid there on the bed with Lisa beside him. He turned to his alarm clock by his bedside.

2:16AM

“Shit,” he hissed to himself. He looked down to Lisa’s pretty face resting his chest. She was lucky enough to have slept off hours ago. Trevor gently moved her body off his, grabbed his phone from the bedside and got himself out of bed. He made his way downstairs and into the kitchen, poured himself a cup of orange juice and sat at the Island table. He was so pissed that he was unable to sleep. He had school that day for crying out loud. Countless times, he had slept with Lisa and had fallen asleep like a sloth. He even remembered that one time when Lisa wanted to a second round and he had already slept off. She didn’t talk to him for almost a week.

Trevor took a sip of his juice and picked up his phone from the table. Swiped at it and saw that there was still no message from Lance. He dropped the glass cup on the table and drove his finger through his hair. He was obviously frustrated and that surprised him.

All of a sudden, it was as if Trevor had lost control of his body. He found himself bringing the phone to his view and swiping to his contacts. He found Lance’s number and almost screamed when he tapped the ‘Call’ button. Trevor wanted to end the call, but something told him not to. So, Trevor stood there with his heart in his mouth as he waited for Lance to pick…..but Lance didn’t pick.

When the call ended, Trevor drove his fingers through his hair again; pacing around the end of the kitchen. He could swear he was losing his mind.

“What the hell is wrong with me?” Trevor hissed to himself. “I’m so stupid.”

He stopped and stared into space for some seconds. He then raised the phone to his view and glared at Lance’s number. “You son of a bitch,” Trevor hissed quietly.

He typed in something quickly into his phone.

“I need to see you. We need to talk.”

…And then, Trevor tapped send and made his way back upstairs to try and get some sleep.

Chapter 13

The next day, the science quiz team made up of Lenny, Stephanie and their colleagues; Keith and Tessa, were hanging out during a private study session at the Chemistry lab.

“Stephanie, what is the atomic number of Calcium?” Keith asked.

“Twenty.”

“That is Correct,” Keith said. “Lenny, Define the word…. ‘Allotrope’?

Lenny paused and stared into space, trying to remember the answer to the question. “Chill,” he said as he tapped the table in urgency. “I know this one.”

“Twenty seconds, Lenny,” Tessa warned.

Lenny tuned and scowled at her. “Shut up, you’re distracting me.”

Tessa rolled her eyes away from him. “Yeah, right.”

“Dude, answer the question,” Keith uttered.

“Uhm-an Allotrope is a-uhm-,” Lenny started to snap his fingers in quick succession as he tried to cook up a definition. “It’s-uhm-”

Stephanie shook her head and pinched the bridge of her nose. “They’re going to rape us all in this competition,” she sighed.

“Shhh!” Lenny turned and uttered to Stephanie. “You’re distracting me.”

Tessa slammed the table three times and pointed to Lenny. “Sorry Lenny,” she yelled in his face. “Your time is up!”

Lenny threw his hands up in frustration and brought them back down again. “Well that’s because you guys could not be quiet enough for me to think. You were all distra-”

“Oh shut the hell up Lenny,” Stephanie fired. “They’ve asked you six questions today and you’ve been able to answer just two.” Stephanie brought two of her fingers to his face. “Just two!”

Lenny rolled his eyes, walked away from her and moved towards the water-dispenser at the corner of the lab. Even he had to admit, Stephanie was getting on his nerves.

“so-eh-I guess it’s safe to say we’re not ready” Keith looked up to them and raised a brow.

“Yep,” Tessa nodded. “We definitely need more time.”

Stephanie turned to Tessa and was almost groaning. “Tess, we have five days. It on Monday next week, and Lenny doesn’t even know what an Allotrope is.”

“Hey come on,” Lenny called from across the room. “Will you relax? It’s no big deal. I just wasn’t concentrating because you guys were talking a lot, that’s all.”

“Oh my God, Lenny,” Stephanie hissed with rage as she spun and moved towards Lenny as if she wanted to smack his face. “You’re a straight A student for Christ sake. Look for another excuse.”

“Dude,” Keith chuckled. “Half, if not the entire town, is going to be there. You think you’ll be able concentrate with all that noise?”

“Exactly,” Tessa said as she glared at Lenny.

Lenny opened his mouth to protest, but when he looked down and saw the way Stephanie was still glaring at him, he thought otherwise. “Fine,” he gave in. “I’ll work harder.”

“Thank you!” Stephanie yelled at him.

“You’re welcome!” Lenny yelled back.

Tessa threw her head back in laughter before she looked back at them. “You guys are nuts.”

There was a knock on the classroom door that made everyone turn. “Go away!” Tessa yelled. “We’re busy!”

Keith hurried over to cover Tessa’s mouth. “Jesus Tess,” Keith hissed. “What if it’s a teacher that’s out there?”

“Who is it?” Lenny called.

“Uhm-Hi,” Stephanie immediately recognised the voice. “Is-eh-Is Stephanie in there? Someone told me she was in here.”

Stephanie’s eyes widened before she turned them to Lenny and saw the mischievous grin on his face. He also knew who was behind that door. “Lenny, no,” Stephanie warned.

Lenny started to walk to the door with the evil smile still on his face. “No....what?”

Stephanie started to move towards the door too. “Look, he doesn’t need to come in here. I’ll go meet him outside?”

“Why?” Lenny said. “You should introduce him to the rest of the club.”

“Wait-what’s going on?” Tess asked in confusion.

“Yeah, who’s at the door?” Keith asked, equally confused.

“Steph’s boyfriend,” Lenny wiggled his brows while still smiling mischievously at Stephanie as he got closer to the door.

Tess turned to Stephanie with a wild smile on her face. “Really?”

“He is not my boyfriend you as-swipe,” Stephanie growled at Lenny.

“Well, well,” Keith said as he gave Stephanie an impressed glance. “Do we know him?”

“Oh God, dude,” Lenny paused a little just to make sure Keith got the message. “The entire school knows him.”

The smiles on the faces of Keith and Tessa quickly disappeared before their brows furrowed and they turned to each other in complete confusion. Lenny reached for the door knob and pulled open.

Caleb brought his head forward first of all, darting his green eyes from one corner of the room to the other with a nervous smile on his face. “He-hello?”

“Caleb,” Lenny smiled cheerfully as he beckoned for Caleb to come in. “Come on…come in.”

“Oh-o-okay,” Caleb said as he slowly made his way in.

As Caleb walked into the lab, Stephanie instinctively glanced at Keith and Tessa. Keith was clearly stunned and Tessa’s eyes were wide and her jaw had dropped open.

Caleb’s eyes landed on Stephanie at the corner before a charming smile played on his lips. “Hey you,” he waved at her.

“Hey,” Stephanie replied bashfully as she began to walk towards him.

Caleb and Stephanie came face to face and just stood there smiling at each other; unsure of whether to hug or kiss or give each other a hand shake. They just didn’t know where they were yet.
“I–uhm-I was looking all over for you,” Caleb said. “I had not seen you since the party so…I just.” Caleb raised his hand to rub his neck; the classic sign of an extremely nervous and apprehensive young man. “I wanted to see you again.”

“Oh,” Stephanie felt her face heating up with embarrassment. It’s funny how she would stare at those beautiful green eyes looking back at her and suddenly have this feeling that she was dreaming. It was unreal. Stephanie looked down at her foot to hide her red face. “That’s cool.”

Lenny then came over and stood close to them. “We’ve really been busy, you know. We’ve got the Kentworth Science championship on monday…and well, you know. We need to be ready.”

“Really,” Caleb raised his brows. “Wow. That’s awesome.” He then turned to Stephanie and smiled. “I guess that’s why you’ve been MIA, huh?”

Stephanie shrugged and smiled back at him. Deep down, she didn’t believe anyone could ever make her feel this way; bashful. She was even more surprised that it was Caleb that was making her feel this way.

“Ahemmm! Ahem!” Tess and Keith cleared their throats so loud, Caleb, Lenny and Stephanie almost jumped.

“Oh,” Stephanie uttered, suddenly realising Tessa and Keith were still in the lab. “Uhm-Caleb? Meet the rest of the team.” Then she gestured to the both of them. “Keith and Tessa.”

Caleb took his eyes to the Hispanic looking girl standing at the corner and the Asian boy who was beside her. “Hey guys,” he walked over to shake them both with a smile that seemed to have paralyzed Tessa completely.

Tessa looked at Caleb as though he was made of gold. “H-hi,” she stuttered. “I’m-uhm-I’m Tessa.”

“I know,” Caleb smiled.

“And-uhm-you’re Ca-Caleb Dickson,” Tessa looked as if she was in a trance.

Caleb chuckled. “Yes. Yes I am.”

When Keith realised Tessa’s hand shake with Caleb wasn’t going to end anytime soon, he yanked Caleb’s hand out of Tessa’s grip and shook him; completely ignoring Tessa scowling at him. “I’m Keith,” he said.

“Cool,” Caleb replied as they shook hands. “It's nice to meet you bro.” Caleb’s eyes then travelled down to Keith’s black ‘Call of Duty’ t-shirt. “Wow dude, you dig COD too?”

Keith scoffed. “Are you kidding me? Bro, I live for COD.”

Tessa immediately rolled her eyes and held herself from laughing when she heard Keith call Caleb ‘Bro’.

“Really?” Caleb uttered as he patted Keith’s boney shoulders. “That’s awesome. You should swing by my crib one of these days. Maybe we could shoot some guns a little.”

“Far out man. Hell yeah!” Keith looked really excited as he looked at Tessa and then back at Caleb with a crazy smile on his face. " The beer is on me.”

Tessa turned and scowled at Keith. “And since when do you drink beer?”

Keith’s smile fell as he turned and glared at Tessa. “Since you started stuttering.”

Tessa narrowed her eyes at Keith with rage, but the annoying smile on his face made her realize he didn’t care. Caleb just chuckled at the both of them before he turned away and walked back to Stephanie. “So-ehm-,” he said while shifting his weight from one leg to the other. Stephanie really liked seeing Caleb like this; nervous and vulnerable. “I was wondering if you would-uhm-you know, like to go out for pizza with me after school?”

The smile on Stephanie’s face slowly faded as she turned away from him and glanced at her crew. She looked back at Caleb and grimaced.

“What?” Caleb showed a smirk that screamed disappointment.

“Nothing,” Stephanie sighed. “It’s just-well, we’ve got a lot of work to do. The quiz completion is on Monday and I feel we still have a lot of work to do.”

“Oh,” Caleb uttered as he gave out a fake smile. “It-It’s fine.”

“We’re actually getting ready to go over to Keith’s house after school for further studies,” Stephanie added as she watched a disappointed Caleb.

“Wait,” Keith cut in. “Excuse me. What the hell do you mean Keith’s house?”

Lenny turned to face him. “We all agreed to have today’s session at your house, remember?”

“No I don’t,” Keith spat.

“Oh God,” Tessa sighed and rolled her eyes.

“But I told you guys,” Keith hissed as he darted his eyes between Tessa and Lenny. “My aunt and her husband are visiting from South Carolina. Tonight’s session will not be possible.”

“Fine,” Stephanie sighed. “We’ll do it in Tessa’s house then.”

“Err-No way,” Tessa waved her hand and shook her head.

“Oh come on!” Lenny groaned. “Why not?”

Tessa turned to Lenny. “I told you we were renovating, didn’t I?”

“Oh really,” Keith turned to her and folded his arms on his chest. “So where are you living?”

“With my cousin three blocks down,” Tessa replied.

Keith raised a brow in realization. “Oh.”

Stephanie turned to Lenny. “Well?”

Lenny grimaced and shook his head. “Nah…not going to work.”

Stephanie looked up at the ceiling and growled. “Are you kidding me right now?”

“Err-how about my place?” Caleb’s calm voice made everyone turn to face him.

“What?” Keith uttered.

Caleb shrugged. "I mean, my parents are out of town, so it's cool."

“Are you serious?” Tessa gasped in delight.

“Absolutely not!” Stephanie spat as she turned to Caleb with wide eyes.

Lenny scowled at her. “Why not?”

Stephanie glanced at Caleb who was looking confused at the moment, before she turned to her team and beckoned for them to follow her to the corner of the lab for a small meeting. By the time they all gathered, Stephanie started, “Apart from the fact Caleb isn’t on our team, has anyone here been to his house before?”

The teens all looked at each other; totally lost.
“Exactly,” Stephanie spat. “Caleb’s house is out of the question.”

“Chill Steph,” Lenny uttered. “You make it sound as if Caleb is a serial killer or something.”

“Well what if he is?” Stephanie hissed.

“Uhm-,” Caleb called from behind them. “I can still hear you guys, you know.”

Stephanie froze, spun to Caleb and flashed a fake smile. “Sorry.”

She turned her attention back to her team. “Look guys,” she said. “The issue is, we don’t know what Caleb’s house is like. We don’t know what his folks are like.”

“His folks?” Tessa uttered. “Steph, the guy just said his folks were out of town.”

“Yeah,” Keith added before a mischievous smile played on his face. “What are you afraid of?”

Stephanie looked at him with disgust before she moved her eyes to Lenny and saw that he was equally smiling maliciously. “You guys are disgusting,” she hissed.

Lenny stood up straight. “All in favour of having this evening’s study session at Caleb’s house, say Aye.”

“Ayeeeee!” Tessa and Keith screamed at the top of their lungs as they kept their eyes on a seething Stephanie. Stephanie held herself from reaching for thier necks and strangling the both of them.

"The Ayes have it,” Lenny wiggled his brows and adjusted his glasses, before he turned to Caleb with a proud smile on his face. “Caleb,… looks like we’ll be paying you a visit tonight.”

“Yay!” Tessa clapped her hands together in excitement.

Caleb had a charming smile on his face as he moved his eyes from Lenny to Stephanie who was still seething. “Okay then,” Caleb said. “I’ll see you guys after school.”

“No problem Bro,” Keith yelled and shot out a thumbs up. Tessa pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. She just couldn’t believe she was on the same science team with this guy.

They all stood there and watched Caleb walk out the door to his next class before Tessa and Keith started to jump in delight. “Oh my God, I can’t believe it,” Tessa squealed. “We’re going to have a study group at Caleb Dickson’s house. The Caleb Dickson.”

“Oh man,” Keith awed. “This will be fun.”

Stephanie was still standing there with her hand crossed over her chest. She glanced at Lenny and caught him smirking at her.

“Oh yes it will,” Lenny smiled at his angry best friend.

Chapter 14

Trevor

That same day, Trevor was seated in the school library with his notebook and algebra textbook spread before him. He checked his phone for missed calls or messages from Lance, but there was nothing. Even the message Trevor had sent by two that morning was completely ignored. He tried calling Lance one more time while waiting in the library, but he didn’t pick up.

Trevor dropped his phone to the table and drove his fingers through his hair. He didn’t know if he was angry or frustrated. He had not seen Lance for the past two days now and the fact that he felt disturbed about that seemed to confuse him a little. Maybe he was just worried about failing Algebra again since exams were around the corner. He and Lance had studied up until they left for France. A week after they got back, they had taken a break from school and so there were no tutorials. They were supposed to have started again yesterday since last Friday wasn’t possible, but of course, the events at the lake seemed to have complicated things. Now, Lance wasn’t picking Trevor’s calls, neither was he replying his messages.

Trevor just thought Lance was being overdramatic. He brought his backpack forward and threw his books into it, hung the bag over his shoulder, grabbed his phone and matched out of the library.

The entire day flew by so fast and before Trevor knew it, it was time for soccer practice. As Trevor strolled into the stadium, Caleb caught up with him just before they turned into the locker room. Both boys started to talk about the party. Even though Trevor wasn’t really paying attention, he was beginning to feel a bit nauseated with Caleb’s constant rambling about how awesome Stephanie was. How heavenly her smile was and how perfect her red hair was. Trevor held himself from rolling his eyes a number of times. He was happy for Caleb, no doubt, but right now, he mind was elsewhere.

Caleb immediately noticed Trevor’s attention wavering as he kept darting his gaze from one point of the Locker room to the other. It was almost as if he was looking for something……or someone.
“You okay Bro?” Caleb asked with concern.

Trevor spun to him and nodded too quickly. “Yeah sure,” he said as he moved to his locker and opened it. “I’m good.”

Both boys were silent for a while as they put on their sports gears, preparing for today’s tedious practice. Even that didn’t stop Trevor from darting his eyes around in search of Lance.

“Trev my man,” Bruce’s voice seemed to annoy Trevor when it took him by surprise. Trevor and Caleb turned and saw Bruce and Aaron walk over; their jerseys already on and their faces smitten with dirty smiles. “What’s up,” Aaron cheered as he patted the both of them on their backs.

“Good,” Trevor replied before he instinctively glanced at Caleb. He was a bit shocked to see the expression on Caleb’s face; he looked defensive. In fact, Caleb was concentrating on putting on his boots, acting as though he had not noticed Bruce and Aaron before them.

“So-err,” Bruce began as he glanced in different directions, faking the fact that he was looking for someone. "Where's Lance?"

Trevor rolled his eyes. "I don't know."

Bruce then turned to Aaron with naughty smile. They both chuckled and looked away from each other. Bruce turned to Trevor. "Dude," he said. "Prom is in three weeks man."

"I know," Trevor hissed through his teeth. Trevor felt his stomach turn when he realised that this was all about winning a bet between he and his friends, but between he Lance, it was something.

"Just reminding you man," Bruce shrugged and raised his hands in surrender. "We had a deal."

"Jesus, Bruce.." Caleb uttered. "Just stop. Please."

The boys turned in Caleb's direction. Trevor noticed the look on Caleb's face. His eyes were cold and steely. For some reason, he looked as though he was seething.

"You're pathetic," Caleb went on as he eyed Bruce with what looked like disgust. "You know that. don't you."

Bruce and Aaron glanced at each other and then looked back Caleb; the smiles still hung on thier faces, but we're about to drop at any minute. Trevor just darted his eyes between Bruce and Caleb in confusion. "Wha-What's going on?" Trevor said.

"Bruce knows what i'm talking about," Caleb said with a smile as he kept his eyes trained on Bruce. "Right, Bruce?"

"Actually, No," Bruce shook his head. "I have no idea what you're talking about. "

"Oh really," the smile on Caleb's face got wider. "Well then, let me refresh your memory." Caleb then turned to Trevor and started to talk. "On our last night, at the party in Paris, Megan walked up to me and told me some pretty interesting things."

Caleb looked back to Bruce and Aaron and suddenly noticed the smiles on thier faces had completely disappeared. Thier faces looked grave.

"In-Intresting things?" Trevor narrowed his eyes Caleb with confusion. "What's are you talking about?"

Caleb turned back to Bruce and Aaron. "She told me that the bet was a distraction for something else. Something much worse," he said before he looked back at Trevor. "And that Bruce had another plan."

Trevor's brows furrowed as he turned and looked at Bruce. He looked back at Caleb and shook his head. Nothing was making sense. "I don't.....under...stand," Trevor sounded lost.

"Bruce brought up the bet to distract you from something else," Caleb glared at Bruce. "Something Bruce obviously didn't want me to here."

Trevor turned to Bruce as if expecting an explanation.

Bruce looked at Trevor and then started to chuckle. He turned to Caleb again and cleared his throat. "Let me guess," Bruce said. "She said Trevor and Lisa were in danger?"

Caleb suddenly raised his chin with his smile slowly fading. "Ye-yes."

Bruce looked back at Aaron before the both of them burst in laughter. Caleb kept his eye on them and laughing uncontrollably and suddenly began to feel stupid.

"Is someone going to tell me what the hell is going on?" Trevor hissed with impatience as he darted his eyes between Caleb and the boys.

"Dude," Bruce said between laughs as he looked at a now confused Caleb. "I can't believe you actually took Megan seriously."

"Why shouldn't I?" Caleb spat.

"Because she was drunk!" Aaron replied sharply.

"And high," Bruce added.

Caleb glanced at Trevor, before he looked back at Bruce and Aaron. "Are guys serious right now?" He asked with the smile back on his face. "So you think i'm stupid?"

"Actually," Aaron laughed. "Yes."

Caleb looked over at Trevor and saw he holding down a laugh himself. That was when he realised Bruce and won. Bruce had taken the gun from him.

"Caleb," Bruce began. "We had smoke a whole lot of weed with Megan at the hotel before we back down for that party....where she also had a lot of alcohol. She was high and drunk."

Caleb kept his eyes on Bruce's face. He didn't want to believe what his heart was telling him,.....that Bruce was lying. He remembered that night well. He remembered her eyes. Her words. The urgency with which she spoke. Megan wasn't drunk. "So why didn't you want finish telling me then?" Caleb said. "Why did you take her away?"

"Dude," Aaron added with a more serious voice. "She was high. We all know what happens when Megan gets drunk."

"She wasn't drunk," Caleb hissed through his teeth.

Bruce kept his eyes on Caleb for some seconds before he spoke. "So, what? You think that I've got a plan to jeopardise Trevor's relationship with Lisa or something?" Bruce said.

"Yes!" Caleb spat.

"Okay boys!" The coaches voice announced in the locker room. "Come on, come on! Let's go! It's Soccer time! Move it! Move it!"

All the boys in the locker room started to leave. Bruce, Caleb, Aaron and Trevor stood to thier feet.

"Dude," Bruce placed his hands on Caleb's shoulder. "Relax. Stop being paranoid."

Caleb looked up at Bruce and glared. Did he just say he was paranoid?

"Yeah," Aaron said. "I mean, we all know you've never been on board with this bet from the beginning."

"You're Damn right," Caleb hissed.

"Yeah, man," Trevor added with a smile. "It's just a harmless high school bet. Chill."

Caleb looked at Trevor who was smiling at him, before he looked over at Bruce who equally had a smile on his face. A smile that was not as pure as that of Trevor's. The bastard.

"Come on man," Trevor said as he pulled on Caleb. "We've got practice."

Caleb and Trevor walked past Bruce and Aaron and headed towards the locker room entrance. Bruce and Aaron watched them until they were out of the room. Aaron now turned to Bruce, his face suddenly filled with rage. "That bitch," Aaron hiss through his teeth. "She said she didn't tell him anything. She fucking said she didn't tell him anything."

Bruce said nothing. His eyes were still fixed on the locker room entrance. The Rage tearing through him and his blood boiling in his veins.

Bruce Hanson never liked being lied to. Never.

Lance

Lance was lying on his bed with his hands behind his head and his eyes fixed to the ceiling. He had been studying all day and had not been to school since Monday; something he always did whenever the exams were close by. He always thought it wasn’t worth it going to school and sitting through revision classes where teachers would revisit what had been already taught in the past. Instead of wasting his time with those assholes in that shithole, he thought it would be more profitable for him stay home and prepare for his exams. After all, he had been doing this ever since he got into the ninth grade and it had made him a straight-A student.

“Stop kidding yourself. You know why you don’t want to go to school. You know what and who you are running away from,” A voice rang in Lance’s head.

“Shut up!” Lance roared as he pulled himself from his bed and moved to his window. He felt his panic attack coming back again as his heartbeat was starting to quicken. His mouth was beginning to feel dry and the entire room suddenly felt hot. Lance drove his fingers through his hair and turned away from the window; darting straight for his propanol tablets on his reading table. He pulled out two tablets, picked up a bottle of water he had drank to half and swallowed the tablets; driving it down his throat with the water.

Three faint knocks made Lance spin to his door. The knocks were so faint; it was as though the person knocking was being careful not to make too much noise.

“What!” Lance snarled.

The door was pushed open slowly and quietly, before Lance saw his mother’s head peek in. “Honey?” she uttered, before she moved into the room completely.

Lance turned away, moved to his bed and dropped down to a sit. “What do you want?”

“You didn’t come down for dinner,” Mrs. Tiffin said.

“Well that’s because I’m not hungry,” he lied. Lance looked up at her and saw that she was all dressed up in a blue knee length gown and her feet stuffed in black stilettos. Her makeup was perfectly applied and her dark hair well pulled back in a French plait.

Mrs. Tiffin moved closer to her son and dropped to a sit beside him. “Lance, you need to-”

“Jesus Christ Mum,” Lance spat in a quiet rage as he shifted away from his mum. “I’m not a fucking kid anymore. Why can’t you just leave me the Bleep alone?”

A look of pain flashed in Mrs. Tiffin’s eyes as she stared at her son. She opened he mouth to say something but closed it back when she realised Lance wasn’t ready to listen to whatever she was going to say. His eyes were fixed on the wall beside him. He glared at it as though he was equally mad at it. He heard his mother sigh before she stood up from the bed.

“Your father and I are going for a dinner party at the home of the Kwans. They just got back from South Korea,” she said.

“Lovely,” Lance spat out coldly with his eyes still on the wall. Even Mrs. Tiffin knew he didn’t give a damn. He heard her pause again before she inhaled and said, “Your sister is downstairs watching cartoons. We didn’t want to get a babysitter because we-”

Lance spun to face his mother with blazing eyes. “Mum, I’m not stupid, okay,” he snarled. “Fine, I’ll babysit Molly while you and dad are at your fancy dinner party. I get it!”-and then he looked away, grabbed his laptop and opened it infront of him. From the side of his eyes, he could see his mother staring at him for a while before she finally made her way to the door reluctantly.

She got to the door, paused and spun to her son. “Lance,” she said. Lance could hear the sorrow in her voice. The voice of a mother rejected by the son she loved so much, but he didn’t give a damn. “You know we love you, right?”

Lance said nothing. He didn’t even turn to face her. His eyes were still glued to the screen of his laptop; even though he really wasn’t watching anything.

“Martha,” he heard his dad call from downstairs. “Honey come on! We’re going to be late!”

Mrs. Tiffin stood there for a few seconds before she finally turned away and walked out the door. Lance laid there on his bed until he heard the car doors of his father’s ford jam short. He leaped off the bed, moved to the window and looked out in time to see the car move out of the driveway and course down the street. Lance slammed his laptop shot and made his way out of his room and down the stairs. He was beginning to wonder where Molly was when he got to the sitting room and saw her sitting cross legged infront of the T.V watching Scooby doo. He glanced at the wall clock at the corner.

"8:10PM."

“You’ve got less than an hour before bedtime,” Lance announced as he made his way to the kitchen. He didn’t see Molly turn and give him a frown.

He walked through the kitchen door, headed straight for the fridge and pulled it open. He pulled out a box of orange juice and poured himself a glass and then when his stomach grumbled, he suddenly remembered he was hungry. He remembered his mum telling him she had kept his dinner and he suddenly went straight to the microwave. He opened and stared at the dish inside in dismay. Mashed potatoes and salad?

“Oh God no,” Lance groaned quietly as he shut the microwave, dragged himself to the island table and dropped to a sit. He took a sip of his juice and sighed. He was definitely going to bed on an empty stomach tonight.

The doorbell went off and Lance stiffened.

“I’ll get it!” Little Molly yelled from outside the kitchen as she rushed towards the front door.
Lance quickly stood up from his seat and hurried out the kitchen. As much as he hated babysitting that little brat, he couldn’t allow her to get kidnapped or killed…..or whatever. He felt furious when he saw Molly reach up at the tip of her toes and pull the door open.

“Molly!” Lance yelled as he hurried into the sitting room and towards the front door. “You don’t run to the door like that. What the hell is-” Lance raised his eyes to the person standing outside the open door and froze.

Trevor looked uncertain and confused as his eyes landed on Lance. “He-Hey,” Trevor uttered in a surprisingly shaky voice.

Chapter 15

Lance felt the blood flush from his face. He was completely stunned. “What are you….what are you doing here?”

Trevor threw his head back, exhaled and dropped his shoulders in exhaustion, and then he looked back at Lance with eyes that seemed a bit impatient. “Are you going to invite me in at least?”

Lance opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out. He was still recovering from the sight of Trevor Bowman in his KHS jacket, jeans and backpack, standing at his front door.

“Hello,” Molly cut in with an adorable voice as she stretched her hand up to Trevor for a shake. “My name is Molly. What’s your name?”

Trevor looked down at the little girl and his face suddenly lit up with a pleasant smile before he took the her hand and shook it. “Hey Molly,” Trevor uttered kindly. “It’s nice to meet you. I’m Trevor.”

Molly’s eyes then turned suspicious as she kept them on Trevor. She turned those suspicious eyes to Lance who was standing behind her. “Is he your boyfriend?” The little girl asked innocently. “You know….like Kyle.”

Trevor darted his eyes up to Lance and coughed out a laugh. “What?”

Lance immediately glared down at his little sister and growled. “Upstairs! Get ready for bed. Now!”

“Oh come on,” Molly groaned. “It’s not-.”

“Now, Molly!”

Molly kept her eyes on her big brother and pouted, before she turned away, walked past Lance and moved up the stairs vehemently. Lance watched her until she disappeared around the corner.

“Who’s Kyle?” Trevor’s voice was inquisitive.

Lance turned and glared at him. “None of your business,” he hissed just as he turned away and walked into the dining hall, leaving Trevor still standing there at the open door.

Trevor slowly made his way past the doorway and closed the door behind him. His eyes glided from one point of the house to the other. It wasn’t surprising how identical Lance’s house was to his. Many of the houses in Kentworth were identical in both interior and exterior architecture. There was a large painting on the cream painted wall right beside the large cupboard filled with fine china and cutlery. Trevor had not seen Lance’s parents before, but he could tell they had fine taste in art. The canvas on which the painting of the peacock was splattered was probably the biggest canvas he had ever seen. It stretched from a few inches below the ceiling, down to about five inches above the marbled floor.

Meanwhile, Lance was opening every single cupboard in the kitchen; hissing and mumbling something under his breath in a quiet rage. He was angry…..and also hungry. He eventually found a box of frosted flakes in the cupboard just above the sink. He lifted it and saw that it was empty. “Bleep!” He hissed out loud, before he pulled the box out of the cupboard and slammed it to the floor.

“Wow,” Trevor said from behind him. Lance spun and saw Trevor leaning on the door frame with his hands crossed on his chest and an annoying smirk on his face. “Someone is in a bad mood.”

Lance paused. He looked away from Trevor and took his eyes down to the empty box of frosted flakes on the floor. “I’m fucking hungry.”

Trevor said nothing. He couldn’t say anything because he was holding down a laugh. He kept his eyes on Lance as he looked down at the empty box on the floor. He looked so adorable. The way his curly black hair fell slightly to his face as he looked down at the box. He looked like a little boy looking down at his broken toy and contemplating whether to cry or not.

Trevor sighed, moved away from the door way and walked further into the kitchen. Lance looked up and watched as he moved to the cupboard behind him. He saw a glass jar of spices, pulled it out, opened it and raised it to his nose for a sniff. He then covered it back up and placed it on the island table. He went back to searching the rest the kitchen. Lance watched him for a while as he searched the rest of the cupboards, opened the fridge, and inspected the oven.

Lance saw him pull out two large bowls and a wooden spatula and he just had to ask. “What are you doing?”

Trevor placed the bowls on the island table and turned to him with a kind but weak smile. “You said you were hungry, right?”

At that moment, Lance was speechless.

Stephanie

Lenny parked his mother’s car right on the drive way infront of Caleb’s house.

“Is this it?” Tessa asked as she moved her face to the car window at the back seat to have a look at the huge building outside.

“Obviously,” Stephanie rolled her eyes away from the sight.

“Wow,” Keith awed from behind Tessa as he stretched to have a look for himself. “The Kentworth princes are really princes, aren’t they?”

“Can we get out of the car please?” Stephanie interrupted as she pushed her door open. “It's getting really late and it’s a school night.

The four of them made their way out of the car and walked down the driveway. They couldn’t take their eyes of the superbly trimmed hedges and the beautiful statues that guarded opposite sides of the road. Lenny wasn’t amazed because being the water boy of the school’s football team; he had been to Caleb’s house a few times. Tessa and Keith on the other hand, looked like they had landed on Mars. Their mouths were permanently open as their eyes glided from one point to another in wonder. Lenny looked at Stephanie and he immediately noticed how good she was at holding down her enchantment at her new surroundings.

They finally got to the door on which none of them seemed to have the courage to knock. Lenny exhaled in frustration before he forced his way through and pressed the doorbell that gave out a loud and classic “Ding dong”. He spun to Stephanie and saw the look on her face, a look that seemed to amuse him for some reason. She caught his gaze and frowned at him. “What,” she spat.

Lenny shook his head. “Nothing.” He just couldn’t bring himself to tell her how uneasy she looked. She looked as if she was about to enter the stomach of a whale.

When Lenny turned away, Stephanie glanced at Tessa and Keith beside her and saw the smirks on their faces before they equally turned their attention to the door.

Suddenly, everyone stiffened the moment the door swung open. Caleb looked at them with raised brows for about two seconds, before a smile slowly played out on his lips. “Hey, you guys made it,” Caleb smiled cheerfully as he waved them in. “Come on in.”

“Uhm-thanks,” Lenny said as he moved into the house with Keith and Tessa right behind him.

Caleb patted Lenny and Keith on the shoulder and chuckled. “No problem bro.” Then he turned in time to see Stephanie walk through the door and he suddenly felt his face heat up.

Stephanie looked up at him through bashful eyes.
“Hi,” he uttered.

“Hi,” Stephanie replied.

She walked in and started to look around, just like the rest of her friends, before Caleb closed the door and ushered then into the sitting room.

“Come on,” Caleb waved them over away from the front door and into the large sitting room. “I’m glad you guys could make it.” He then pointed to the large cream coloured Couch . “Sit down.”

Keith and Tessa sat down beside each other, while Lenny went close to a really large vase at the corner and started to observe it.

“Cool, right?” Caleb said to Lenny. Lenny looked up at Caleb, almost startled, before he smiled and took his attention back to the vase.

“Yeah. It’s really cool,” Lenny said.

“Parents got it from some auction in Spain.” Caleb shrugged.

“Really,” Tessa raised her brow. “..For how much?” Caleb opened his mouth and was about to reply, but then, Tessa raised her hands to stop him. “Wait,” she paused. “Don’t answer that.”

Caleb threw his head back and laughed in response to Tessa.

“Dude!” Keith’s scream suddenly made everyone jump.

Everyone looked in Keith's direction. “What?” Lenny asked in a sort of quiet panic. “What’s wrong?”

Caleb spun to face Keith and almost flipped out when he saw him pointing to something below the large TV with his wide eyes fixed on him.“Is-Is that an Xbox three-sixty?” Keith asked in a voice that seemed to tremble, showing an impending explosion of excitement.

Caleb followed Keith’s pointing fingers and his eyes landed on the video game console lying on the marbled floor just below the TV. “Err-Yes,” he chuckled. “It is.”

Keith’s mouth dropped open as he turned towards the console lying on the floor. He slowly moved towards it and dropped to the floor and caressed it like it was the Holy Grail. “You mean …..a certified original?” Keith awed.

“Yep,” Caleb smiled as he turned to Stephanie just in time to see she and Tessa roll their eyes.

“Oh my God,” Keith gave a quiet gasp as he ran his fingers over the console.

“We could shoot some guns if you like,” Caleb shrugged.

Keith turned to him in disbelief. “Hell yes!” He yelled.

“Hell no!” Stephanie spat.

Keith’s smile quickly faded into a frown as he turned to face Stephanie.

“We came here to study, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do,” Stephanie said sternly.

Caleb looked back at Stephanie with a smirk on his face that was laced with confusion. She caught his gaze and raised a brow before crossing her hand on her chest. Caleb looked away and glanced at Keith. “Err-she’s right dude,” he uttered. “Got to do what you came here for first, right?”

“Oh come on,” Keith moaned like a child.

“Oh shut up and get off the floor you big baby,” Tessa spat.

Keith glared at Tessa in response before he pulled himself off the floor and walked over to his backpack on the couch vehemently while mumbling something under his breath.

Caleb looked back at Stephanie exactly the same time her eyes landed on his. Their eyes locked before he gave out a smirk. Stephanie looked away but it was easy to see she was holding down a smile of her own.

Chapter 16

Trevor and Lance

The two teenage boys had been sitting there on the kitchen Is and table quietly for the past four to five minutes, eating the Lasagne that Trevor had prepared. All the while, Lance had managed to avoid Trevor’s eyes. He had thought of going over to the dining area, but he changed his mind for some reason that was unknown to him. One thing that was undeniable though, was how good the Lasagne tasted. Lance was sure he had never tasted anything this good before. His mother didn’t make this dish often, but when she did, he was pretty sure it wasn’t this good. For the first time they started eating, Lance took a peek and raised his eyes to look at Trevor. He was a bit pleased that Trevor didn’t notice because his eyes were on his meal. Lance took in the way Trevor’s blonde curls fell to his forehead and the way he chewed on his food. It was really crazy that he found Trevor’s chewing attractive. As Lance started to feel a good amount of his strength coming back, the realisation hit him like the waves on a sandy beach. Trevor had just walked into his house and prepared dinner…..and here they were, lounging together.

Lances eyes fell to Trevor’s grey t-shirt that was more visible now that he had taken off his blue and white KHS jacket and hung it on the chair. His eyes went further to observe the way Trevor’s hard pectorals pushed on the top of his t-shirt and the way his bulging biceps tightened the short sleeves on his arm. Lance immediately looked away and kept his eyes on his food the moment Trevor cleared his throat. He didn’t know what it meant. He didn’t know if Trevor had caught him checking him out or not.

“Did you like it?” Trevor’s voice made Lance heart skip a beat. He calmed his nerves and looked up at Trevor who had a weak and surprisingly charming smile on his face. He was moved to smile back but he decided not to.

“What?” Lance uttered.

“The food,” Trevor replied. “Was it good?”

Lance looked down at his plate and suddenly realised he had finished his food. He looked up at Trevor and raised his brows. Trevor still had some Lasagne on his plate, but he had paused because he was obviously waiting for Lance’s reply.

“Uhm-,” Lance looked down at his plate and back up at Trevor again as he gave an impressed nod. He faked a smile and said, “It was good. Really good.”

Trevor said nothing. He just kept a straight face. He obviously saw through Lance’s feigned gratitude and was pretty sure Lance didn’t give a damn. Trevor watched as Lance looked back down at his plate and rested back on his chair. He waited for Lance to look back at him again because he knew he was going to, and he did. When their eyes locked, Trevor smirked at him, but Lance blinked away, picked up his plate, stood up and headed straight for the sink. When Lance stopped infront of the sink, he heard Trevor sigh; a sigh Lance was sure Trevor didn’t know he heard.

He dumped his plate in the sink, spun and started to walk to the kitchen door.

“Why haven’t you been in school all this while?” Trevor’s uttered.

Lance stopped and spun to Trevor in confusion. “Excuse me?”

Trevor dropped his fork to his plate and turned to Lance on his chair. “Haven’t seen you in school for the past two days,” Trevor said. “Why?”

“Sorry….Dad,” Lance sneered. “But it’s none of your business.”

“Actually,…..it is my business,” Trevor shrugged.

Lance looked at him with disbelief. “Why?”

“Because Exams are around the corner and we are supposed to be rounding up our study sessions,” Trevor said bluntly. "...I am the school's soccer captain after all."

Lance coughed out a laugh before he shook his head and turned away, heading towards the door.

“I’m serious man,” Trevor said as he stood up from the chair, throwing Lance a serious look.

Lance paused and turned to face him with a smile on his face laced with rage. “Trevor..,” he said. “What are you doing here?”

“What?” Trevor frowned.

“What are you doing in my house at past eight in the evening, Trevor,” Lance voice was more serious now.

Trevor shrugged and opened his mouth, but nothing came out. He looked away and licked his lips; obviously thinking of what to say. He dug his hands back into his pocket again and looked back at Lance with uncertain eyes. “I was hoping we could study,” he shrugged again.

Lance coughed out another laugh. He looked down at his feet and then looked up at Trevor for a while; his eyes as though he was deep in thought. “When you’re done eating, drop your plate in the sink and remember to close the front door on your way out,” Lance’s voice was cold. The moment he said those words, he saw Trevor’s face fall. He most definitely did not expect that.

Lance spun away and headed out of the kitchen, leaving Trevor behind. He went up the stairs and moved to Molly’s room to check on her, before he made his way to his room and dropped to his bed.

He checked his alarm clock .... “9:15PM”. He was in the mood for some music, but he didn’t want to block his ears with his earphones. He wanted to be aware of Trevor’s departure so he could go down stairs and set the security alarm afterwards.

Trevor’s fallen facial features as he stood in the kitchen suddenly flashed in Lance's mind, but he did well to wipe it out. “No,” he hissed to himself as he stood up from his bed and walked over to his reading table. He plugged his laptop to his speakers with a USB cord, searched for a song and tapped play. Few seconds later, the sweet symphony of one of his favourite songs, “Sacrifice” by Elton John, filled his entire room. Lance stood up straight, tilted his head backwards and closed his eyes. He was beginning to feel himself drift away. He was beginning to feel his soul levitate and his senses give in to the voice and the melody.

“I love this song,” a familiar voice from behind pulled Lance out of utopia.

He opened his eyes and spun to see Trevor leaning on the frame of his room door with a somewhat anxious smile on his face. “Elton John is awesome,” Trevor said.

Stephanie and Caleb

Meanwhile, that same night at Caleb’s house, Stephanie and the group started practising. The four of them sat on the floor while Caleb sat on one of the couch, watching them. Well, he was watching Stephanie actually, and it was way too obvious to Tessa and Keith now that; boyfriend or not, Caleb really did like Stephanie. The doorbell rang and Caleb looked straight at his guests as they suddenly turned nervous.

“Relax,” he assured them, “It’s just the pizza I ordered. My Parents are out of town, remember?” When he saw them deflate, he hurried over to door, took he pizza and paid the delivery guy. There were five flat boxes of pepperoni pizza. He dropped three before them and took two back with him to the kitchen.

“Thank you!” Tessa yelled after him as he made his way to the kitchen.

“No problem!” Caleb yelled back in response before he turned the corner.

Tessa turned to Stephanie and giggled. “Oh my God,” she uttered as she picked up one of the boxes and started to open it. “He bought us pizza.”

“Yeah whatever,” Keith spat. “Could you hurry up and open it please? We’re starving.”

Tessa’s smile faded and turned into a glare that she kept on Keith face.

They all started to much on their Pizza slices while they studied at the same time. As Stephanie began to feel thirsty, she instinctively spun and saw Caleb coming out of the corner with four plastic bottles of soft drinks in his hands.

“Oh thank God,” Keith uttered as he stretched his hands towards Caleb. “You’re a life saver.”

“Awww,” Tessa awed again as she looked at Caleb and then at Stephanie who was feigning concentration with the Chemistry text book before her.

“And this if for you,” Caleb said as he stretched a bottle towards Stephanie, and at that moment, Stephanie knew he was talking to her, so, she saw that charming smile of his , before she wrapped her fingers around the cold plastic bottle of sprite and took it from him.

The study session continued and Caleb sat there observing for a while, before he decided to make his way away from the sitting and up the stairs. Stephanie looked up and watched him leave; fighting the urge to call him back and ask him where he was going. She could feel his eyes on her all the while they studied right there in the middle of the sitting room, and frankly, she enjoyed his attention.

“Uhm-Hello?” Lenny uttered. “Earth to Steph.”

Stephanie turned her attention back to the group as if she had just noticed that they were there. “What?”

“Lenny just asked you a question,” Tessa said with a mischievous smile on her face.

Stephanie darted her eyes to an equally smirking Lenny. “Oh-Uhm-sorry I didn’t get it. Repeat it please.”

Lenny repeated the question and two questions later, Tessa leaned over and whispered to Stephanie that she needed to use the bathroom. Stephanie and Tessa walked out of the sitting room and into the hall. She stood infront of the staircase and called for Caleb twice, but there was no reply.

“Where the hell is he?” Stephanie looked at Tessa who was now beginning to look uncomfortable.

Tessa and Stephanie stood there; quiet for a few seconds, before Tessa hissed in a raspy voice, “Oh Bleep it.” …and she matched up the stairs.

“Tess,” Stephanie followed right behind her. “What are you doing?”

“Steph,” she replied without even looking back at her red haired friend. “I need a bloody toilet.”

“But you don’t even know where it is. I mean look at the size of this place. It could be anywhere.”

Tessa kept moving until they got to the hall way. “Don’t worry, I’ll find it.”

As they kept walking down, one of the doors on the side flew open and hit Stephanie on the head.
“Ouch!” Stephanie yelped.

“Oh God.” A male voice uttered. “Holy shit I’m sorry. Are you okay?”

Tessa heard the commotion behind and then spun. Her eyes didn’t just widened at the sight of Stephanie holding up her hand to her head; she was also stunned at the sight of Caleb’s wet and dripping body wrapped in a white towel. “Mother of God,” the word fell out of Tessa’s mouth in a whisper without her even knowing it.

Stephanie looked up at Caleb and suddenly felt her heart skip a bit. As her eyes glided down his body, she started to feel funny. A feeling she had never felt began to course through her. She honestly didn’t know why she was surprised…or why she was feeling this way about seeing Caleb half naked. She had seen him half naked more than once when she would hang around the field after soccer practice…..waiting for Lenny so they would go home together. Why was the sight of his wet muscle bound torso making her feel hot on the inside now?

“Stephanie,” Caleb’s voice seemed uncharacteristically high as Stephanie shot her eyes up to Caleb’s eyes.

“Ye-yeah?” Stephanie blinked rapidly.

“Are you okay?” Caleb looked at her with concern. “Does your head hurt?”

“Uhm-..” Stephanie uttered as she glanced at Tessa who had a mischievous smirk on her face. She looked back into Caleb’s concerned eyes. “I-I’m fine.”

“You sure?” Caleb touched her shoulder and studied her face.

Stephanie kept her stare on Caleb’s green eyes. The way the wet brown curls of his hair stuck to the top and sides of his face, the glossiness of his skin and how smooth it was. Stephanie had suddenly become aware of everything. She had suddenly become aware Caleb Dickson.

“Uhm-can you show us where the bathroom is please?” Tessa’s interruption suddenly yanked Stephanie and brought her back to reality.
Caleb reluctantly pulled his eyes away from Stephanie. “Err- yeah sure,” he then turned back towards the rest of the hallway. “Down the hall. The last door on the left.”

“Okay,” Tessa uttered as she reached out and grabbed Stephanie and hurried in the direction Caleb had pointed. “Thanks.”

Caleb watched the two girls rush down the hall, open the bathroom door, hurry in and slam it afterwards. All the while, he was pretty sure Stephanie was fighting the urge to look back at him.

Chapter 17

What the hell are you doing in my room,” Lance asked as he stared at Trevor in disbelief.
Trevor lifted himself off the door frame and slowly moved into the room. His eyes darted from one corner to the other before he turned to Lance with an uncertain look on his face. “I-Uhm-heard one of my favourite songs and I wondered where it was coming?” Trevor shrugged.

Lance’s look of disbelief suddenly turned to confusion as he tilted his head with his eyes still on Trevor. “Are you serious right now?”
“What?” Trevor shrugged again with a weak smirk.
Lance moved a bit closer and pointed to the door before snarling, “Get out of my room Trevor. Get out of my house!”

Lance saw Trevor’s face fall slightly as soon as he said those words. The smirk on his face vanished and the expression he had now was one of anger and pain all at once. But right now, Lance couldn’t give a shit.

Trevor looked down to his feet and then looked up to Lance’s speakers playing at the corner. He looked at Lance and gave a weak smile. “Could I at least hang around till the song is over?” He asked.

Lance walked over to his laptop and pressed the ‘Stop’ button. He turned and glared at Trevor and crossed his hands over his chest. “No,” he spat.

The smile on Trevor’s face fell again. He stood there and stared at Lance for a few seconds, before he slowly spun and walked towards the door, shaking his head as he did. Lance fought the guilt in his gut as he stood there and watched Trevor move towards the door.

Then, Trevor stopped. He spun and looked at Lance with curious eyes.

“What?” Lance asked.

“I’m sorry,” Trevor spat.

“Well,” Lance shrugged and scoffed. “That doesn’t mean shit at this point.”

Trevor narrowed his eyes at him, before he looked down at his feet and chuckled. A gesture Lance knew he did to hold down his anger and frustration. Trevor then looked up at him again. “Why are you acting like a kid?” Trevor shrugged.
The look of disbelief was back on Lance’s face. “Excuse me?”

“You’re acting like a fvcking child,” Trevor’s voice was louder now.

Lance’s mouth fell open in an amused surprise as he moved close to Trevor. “Are you fvcking kidding me right now?”

“I said I was sorry man,” Trevor growled.

“Sorry for what ?” Lance countered.

“For…,” Trevor huffed, paused and looked down to the floor. “That night……at the Lake.”

Lance snarled in Trevor’s face. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”

Trevor looked up at Lance again, trying very hard to hide his surprise at Lance’s words, but failing.
“All I did that night was ask you for an answer,” Lance said as he moved back to stand beside his reading table. “And then Lisa called and you had to go. You didn’t do anything wrong?”

“Trevor coughed out a laugh. “You’re being sarcastic, aren’t you?”

Lance dropped his shoulders and exhaled in exhaustion. “Trevor,” he started. “I don’t know what’s going on in your head or what fvcking game you’re playing, but I am-.”

“Wait, what?” Trevor looked dumbfounded. “You-you think this is a joke? You think I’m-.”

“Well what the fvck do you want me to think?” Lance growled with rage. “Huh Trevor ? What? You kissed me in a rest room and pushed me away.”
Trevor started to feel uneasy. He started to move his weight from one leg to the other.

Lance continued in a fit of rage that Trevor had never seen before. “Days after that, you start to act like I’m a fvcking plague. I get my ass beat up in a party and you offer to take me home.”

Trevor looked away and started to pace back and forth within the room. He drove his fingers through his blonde hair and his breathing became heavier. He could feel something growing inside of him. He looked up at Lance and noticed his face was red and his eyes were blood shot.

Lance raged on. “I finally get a moment with you and try to find some answers and you don’t give me shit! Your girlfriend calls you and you see that as a cue to escape. You see that as a cue to leave!”
“What the Bleep was I supposed to do?” Trevor lashed out and made Lance flinch a little. “She’s my fucking girlfriend and she needed a ride home!”
“You had a girlfriend when you kissed me in that rest room,” Lance hissed. “Didn’t you?”

Trevor narrowed his eyes at him and inhaled. Lance could see he was seething. He was like a volcano that was about to erupt. Trevor turned away, walked to the wall and held himself from punching it hard. He spun to Lance again with eyes filled with fire. Trevor charged for Lance and pushed him back. “Do you think this is easy for me?” Trevor roared.

“Yes!” Lance screamed back at him.

”Why!”

“..Because you’re not gay!” Lance screamed at the top of his lungs. The volume of his own voice shocked he himself.

Lance immediately noticed Trevor’s features soften after he screamed at him. Trevor looked almost apologetic now, but Lance wasn’t done pouring his heart out. “You don’t know what it feels like to actually be attracted to someone years after you swore never to feel anything for anyone. And even at that, you can’t show any affection towards that person because the world, and even that person, will look at you like dog shit.”

Trevor kept his eyes on Lance. He felt himself getting sick to the stomach at the sight of tears falling down Lance’s right cheek. He wanted to say something, but he couldn’t think of anything that would actually make more sense than what Lance had just said. He was right. Life was definitely harder for him because of who he was. Because of what he was.

Lance looked tired and drained after shouting for the past five minutes. His face was red and his eyes were filled with tears. He looked down to the floor and looked up at Trevor again with a weak smile. “I don’t want to come between you and Lisa Trevor,” Lance’s voice was weak and almost lifeless. “I just wanted to know why you kissed me in that rest room. That’s all.”

Trevor’s eyes blinked away from Lance’s face and went to the wall behind him. He honestly didn’t know what to say. He looked back to Lance’s face again and felt his mouth go dry.

Lance waited for an answer for a while, before he slowly spun away. “Go home, Trevor,” Lance said as he reached over and started his music again.
Trevor stood there as one of his favourite Elton John songs started to play again. He watched Lance move to his bed and drop to a sit. He watched him sniff every ten to fifteen seconds as he raised his hands to wipe his cheeks with his sorrowful eyes fixed to the screen of his laptop before him and at that moment, Trevor realized he couldn’t hold it down anymore.

“No.”

Lance looked up at Trevor in confusing. “What?”
“I’m not going anywhere,” Trevor repeated.
Lance took his laptop computer off his laps and dropped it beside him. He walked over to Trevor slowly. The pain in his eyes had vanished now and rage had taken over. “Get out of my house Trevor,” Lance hissed with rage. “Or I swear to God, I will call the cops.”

“Go ahead,” Trevor shrugged indifferently. “I don’t care.”

Lance moved close to Trevor’s face and roared. “Get out of my house you fvcker!”

“I’m not going anywhere!” Trevor shot back at him.
Lance clenched his jaws as he stared at the determination in his eyes, before he turned away. “Fine,” he hissed as he picked up his phone from the table.

Lance brought his phone to his view and quickly typed in the numbers,“9-1-1.” He was about to tap the call button when he felt Trevor strong palms wrap around his wrist. He looked up at Trevor in shock. “Wha-what are you doing?” He said. “Get your hands off me!”

Trevor held Lance’s hand with one hand and pulled the phone out of his palms with the other.
“Give me back my phone you fucker!” Lance growled as he fought Trevor.

Trevor pushed him off and threw the phone to a corner of the room. Lance’s wide eyes followed his phone as it flew through the air and landed on the flow at the far side of the room. He moved his wide eyes to Trevor who had an annoying smirk on his face.

“You bastard!” Lance roared as he charged for Trevor and swung at him; punching him hard in the face…hard.

Trevor staggered backwards as he held his jaws. He took his hands off his jaw and looked down at it, before he looked up at Lance again. “Son of a bitch,” Trevor uttered in disbelief. “You-you just punched me.”

“Oh Bleep you!” Lance fired. “You threw my-” Lance was interrupted when Trevor suddenly charged at him and knocked him to the bed.

Both boys fell to the bed, struggling and fighting with each other. Lance was surprised Trevor didn’t hit him…or maybe he didn’t want to. He tried very hard to push Trevor of him but my God, this guy weighed a ton. “Get the Bleep off me!” Lance hissed as he struggled.

“No,” Trevor snarled. “Not until you listen to me.”
“I’m not fucking listening to you. Get out of my house Trevor!” Lance hissed as he punched Trevor in the belly, but to his surprise, Trevor didn’t even flinch…he just grunted in pain. Jesus, who was this guy?

Trevor finally got a hold of both of Lance’s wrists and pinned them to the bed; the left and right side of his head. “Stop it!”

Lance stopped struggling when realised he couldn’t move his hands again. He looked up at Trevor’s eyes above him and held himself from spitting on his face.

“You’re wrong,” Trevor hissed.

“About what?” Lance snarled back at him.

“About me not knowing what it feels like to be afraid. Afraid of showing affection to someone just because the world will treat me like shit,” Trevor hissed back. ‘I’ve never been so confused in my life, Lance. Never!”

Chapter 18

Lance became tranquil and quiet. His features began to soften and his eyes searched Trevor’s blue eyes. Trevor’s eyes looked sincere and pleading. He looked desperate; almost as if he was looking at something he was scared of leaving.

Both boys stared into each others' eyes for a while; Trevor still straddling Lance and Lance still under him. As Lance kept his gaze on Trevor’s blue eyes, he suddenly felt a hunger grow inside of him. He was suddenly aware of Trevor’s minty breath on his face. He was suddenly aware of the way Trevor’s large palms pressing his wrist; smooth and rough at the same time.

Trevor’s eyes moved down to Lance’s lips. “Lance, I..” He stopped.

Lance looked at him in anticipation; eager to hear what he was about to say. “What?”

Without another word, Trevor moved his head down and pressed his lips against Lance’s mouth with an aggression that seemed to fuel Lance’s hunger. Lance yanked his hands out of Trevor’s grip and wrapped his arms around his body. The two boys laid there on Lance’s bed; sharing a passionate kiss that caused a strange electricity to travel down their bodies.

While still locked in the kiss, Lance wrestled and pushed Trevor over to the side, before he came to the top and straddled him. He was on top of Trevor now. He pulled away and looked down in Trevor’s eyes with uncertainty.

Trevor looked up at him with a calm confusion. “What?”

“Are you sure?” Lance whispered.

Trevor sighed and gave Lance a weak smile, before he reached up and brushed Lance’s hair back. “Yes,” Trevor whispered in return. ”Yes I am.”

Lance blinked quickly as a smile of disbelief grew on his face. He then dropped down and ravaged Trevor’s lips with aggression. The words he had just heard were like fuel to his soul. He was kissing Trevor and Trevor was kissing him back. This time, he was sure. Trevor wanted this as much as he did. There was a flash of doubt in Lance’s mind that was suddenly wiped away when he felt Trevor’s strong arms wrap around him.

Oh Bleep yes!

Lance pulled away from Trevor. He reached down and pulled his shirt off over his head, before he reached over and helped Trevor take his own shirt. Both boys took off their t-shirts and flung them across the room. They fell into another kiss again, this time, deeper. Trevor felt Lance's tongue in his mouth just like Lance felt his tongue in his.

The teenage boys laid there, skin on skin, with their breaths heavy and their hand searching and rubbing each other in an uncontrollable ecstasy. It was strange to Trevor how the feeling of Lance’s body rubbing against his seemed to make him hard. He had never felt this alive with anyone in a long time. Sure, he liked to Bleep Lisa when he could, but this was different. Kiss and caressing Lance right now felt as if he was eating a meal he had wanted for years. The feeling was incomparable to anything he had felt before.

Trevor then flipped over till he was on-top of Lance again. He shoved his tongue into Lance’s mouth and held Lance’s face in his hands. He then moved down to Lance’s neck, sucking and kissing on it. He licked his way to Lance’s clavicle, got to his chest and looked up to Lance. Lance looked down at Trevor and saw a mischievous smirk on his face.

“What?” Lance asked in anxiety.

The dirty smirk was still on Trevor’s face as he looked up at him with through hooded eyes. “How sensitive are you nipples?”

Lance rolled his eyes away with a shy smile. “Bleep you.”

Trevor chuckled.

Lance looked down again in time to see Trevor stick out his tongue and run it over his left nipple. Lance’s breathing suddenly became heavier than before. His entire body was on fire. The entire room suddenly began to spin. Trevor felt Lance’s body stiffen under his touch as his tongue pressed against the obviously sensitive spot. Trevor moved down further, kissing Lance’s chest, his belly and then moving to the spot just above his belt. He stopped and looked at Lance again with that dirty smirk still on his face. When Lance looked down at him, Trevor noticed his face was red. He looked embarrassed and it was adorable. Trevor then moved himself up from Lance’s torso and planted a kiss in his lips.

“You got a rubber?” Trevor looked down at Lance with a one sided grin.

Lance’s eyes widened slightly. “What?”

“A rubber,” Trevor repeated with his smile getting wider now as he studied Lance’s face. “Do you have a rubber?”

“What do you need a rubber for?” Lance asked with a smile slowly playing on his face as well.

“What do people use rubbers for?” Trevor chuckled.

Lance shook his head and started to laugh. “Nah man,” Lance uttered. “There’s no way I’m letting you Bleep me.”

“What?” Trevor pulled away slightly with the smile still on his face. “You scared?”

Lance opened his mouth to reply, but he paused when realised something. He looked into Trevor’s blue eyes and then it hit him. “Yes,” Lance whispered.

“Yes?” Trevor raised his brows.

“Yes,” Lance said in a voice that was almost trembling. “Yes, I’m scared.”

Trevor smiled down at him before kissing lips gently. He pulled away a little and looked into Lance’s green eyes. “Me too,” Trevor whispered against his lips.

With his eyes still on Lance, Trevor slowly pulled back and got off the bed. He stood there for a while until Lance saw him reach down and start to undo his belt.

“Oh God,” Lance thought as he swallowed.
He watched Trevor unbuckle his belt and pull his jean trousers down to his ankles completely exposing his Calvin Klein boxer shorts. If that designer could see what Lance was seeing right now, he would definitely sign Trevor up as one of his models. His physique was unbelievable.

“Aren’t you getting naked?” Trevor asked with a smile.

Lance looked up at him. “..Naked for what?” He honestly could not believe he had just asked that.
Trevor chuckled in response and shook his head, before he reached down and pulled his boxers down to his feet. Lance suddenly felt his heart skip a beat. He wanted to look away, but he couldn’t. The sight before him was overwhelming and entrancing. His eyes travelled up and down Trevor’s body and he suddenly could not believe Lisa had this all to herself.

“Dude,” Trevor’s voice seemed to wake Lance up. Lance looked up from between his legs and up to his smirking face. “Stop checking me out and fvcking get naked.”

“Oh yes…of course,” Lance stood from the bed, cleared his throat and pulled down his pyjama shorts; exposing his mickey mouse boxers in the process. He instinctively looked up at Trevor and saw him hold down a laugh with his eyes on his boxers.

Lance pointed at him. “Do not fvcking laugh at me.”

Trevor raised his hand in surrender and chuckled. He kicked his trouser and boxers off his feet, before he walked over to his backpack on the floor to get something. Lance then looked down and slowly pulled his boxers down to his ankles. He kicked his pyjama and his boxers to one side and looked up in time to see Trevor walk over. Trevor eyes travelled up and down Lance’s body and from the smile on his face, Lance could tell he liked what he saw.

“Not bad,” Trevor smirked. “Lean and ripped. I like it.”

“You look like the fvcking Hulk,” Lance spat. “If the Hulk was a teenager, that is.”

Trevor chuckled. He really did like Lance’s body though; lean, muscular and covered with tattoos. He looked like a sexy rock star. Trevor could not believe someone like this was also a straight ‘A’ student. He looked up to his face and noticed how his green eyes seemed to glow in the dimly lit room; his pitch black hair was a sharp contrast to his almost pale white skin.

Trevor walked up to Lance and almost burst out in laughter when his eyes widened at the sight of the condom in Trevor’s hand.

Lance took his wide eyes from the condom to Trevor’s face. “Are we-”

Trevor bit on the wrapper with his teeth and tore it open, before his smirked at an obviously nervous Lance. “Don’t you want to?”

Lance looked away and swallowed hard.

Trevor’s smirk vanished immediately and was replaced with concern as he searched Lance’s face. “If you don’t-”

“I-I want to,” Lance interrupted him sharply. He looked up to Trevor’s eyes. “I want to.”

The smile slowly came back to Trevor’s lips again. “Okay,” he said. They both came close and took themselves in an embrace. Their hard bodies warming each other up. Their lips locked in a passionate kiss once more as they both moved back and fell on the bed. Lance loved the way Trevor’s hands felt on his skin; rough and smooth at the same time. Trevor’s tongue moved from his mouth to his neck, then his chest. The wetness of his tongue coursed through Lance’s nipples again and Trevor suddenly felt Lance’s fingers raking at his back.

“Bleep me.” The words seemed to slip out of Lance’s mouth.

Trevor pulled away and searched his eyes with concern. “Sure?”

Lance nodded with a smile. Trevor was pressed against his chest, so he could feel his heart pounding fast. He was nervous as well.

“Okay,” Trevor said. He stood up to a kneeling position right infront of Lance and wore the condom right infront of him. Trevor looked down at him again and gave him a calm smile. “This is awkward.”

“I know right,” Lance exhaled.

They both laughed.

Trevor got down and positioned himself, before he looked into Lance’s eyes once more. “If it hurts, you let me know, okay?”

Lance licked his lower lip and nodded quickly in response.

When Lance finally felt Trevor slide into him, he could swear he was going to pass out at any moment. What he felt was unlike anything he had ever felt before. It was a mixture of pain and pleasure that seemed to increase with every passing second. A mixture of pain and pleasure that Lance welcomed with open arms. Lance squeezed a handful of his bed-sheet in his hands and bit his lower lip in response to what he was feeling.

He could not believe this was actually happening. Neither of them could.

Lance looked up at Trevor and felt his heart leap when he saw the way Trevor’s eyes were fixed to his. Nobody had ever looked at Lance that way before. No body.

“Are-are you okay?” Trevor’s voice was trembling.

“Ye-yes,” Lance nodded.

Trevor came down and pressed his lips against Lance’s in a voracious kiss; pressing his body against Lance at the same time. Pulling away and thrusting forth continuously.

The two teenaged boys laid there; their skins glistening with sweat and their breaths as heavy as the suddenly hot air in the room, the only audible sounds being their groans and moans in response to this pure alien pleasure and ecstasy that they felt.

Chapter 19

Trevor and Lisa

The next morning, as Trevor drove to school with Lisa on the passenger seat, he felt different. Last night was undoubtedly one he would never forget.

He was still feeling a bit tired and it wasn’t just because of the sex. As he and Lance had laid there; their naked bodies intertwined with each other, he had looked up at the ceiling and wondered why that night had been so magical for him. Lance had his head on his chest with his fingers tracing lines on them. A smile pulled on Trevor’s lips the moment he remembered how good Lance’s fingers felt on his bare skin. He wanted to lay there with him forever, but that wasn’t going to happen.

The moment the headlights of Lance’s dad’s car flashed into the room and they both heard the roaring engine moving into the drive way, Lance had darted off Trevor’s body with lightning speed. He watched as Lance hurried to the window and looked out for just a second, before he spun back to Trevor with wide eyes.

“Bleep, my parents are home.”

“Shit!” Trevor had hissed as he shot himself off the bed and started to gather his clothes. The two naked teenaged boys ran around the room in panic; pulling the shorts up their legs and their shirts over their bodies. After Trevor was dressed, he picked his backpack and his jacket from the floor and headed for the door.

Lance heard the car-doors slam shut as his parents made their way out and then he turned and saw Trevor. “Waoh...Hey…What the hell are you doing?”

Trevor paused and spun to face Lance. “I’m leaving.”

Lance hurried over and pulled him away from the door and moved him to the window. “You can’t do that,” Lance hissed. “They’ll see you. They’re probably at the door already.”

Trevor saw the window and groaned. Oh God, not again. He spun to Lance and stopped. “Dude,” he said. “Do I have to take the window? I mean, It’s not like I’m a girl or something. They won’t suspe-.”

“Oh yes they will,” Lance interrupted as he kept pushing Trevor towards the window.

Trevor spun to Lance with wide eyes. “Wait, you mean they know you’re…”

“Yes they do,” Lance hissed, looked back at the door and then back at Trevor, before he pushed further. “Now go.”

Trevor kept his eyes on Lance and refused to move. Lance looked up at him and saw a naughty smile growing in his face.

“Trevor!” Lance warned.

“Kiss me,” Trevor uttered with the smile still on his face.

“Jesus Christ,” Lance hissed through his teeth as he looked up to the ceiling in frustration. He looked back down at Trevor the moment he felt his arms wrap around his waist and pull him closer. They kissed, but it didn’t last long. The moment the footsteps could be heard coming up the stairs and close to the room, panic ensued. “I’ll be right there. Just want to check on the kids.” Mrs. Tiffin’s voice announced from behind the door. At that moment, Lance pulled away from Trevor and looked at the door and when he saw the knob turn, he involuntarily pressed forward and pushed Trevor out the window.

“Bleep!”….was the last thing Lance heard Trevor utter before he disappeared out the window.

“Trevor!” Lisa’s voice dragged him back to that present morning.

He darted his eyes between the road and his girlfriend. “Yeah, yeah babe, I’m here.” He interlocked his fingers in hers and brought them up to his lips and kissed them.

“Are you okay?” Lisa asked with concern.
“I’m good.”

“Obviously,” Lisa said as she looked away and pulled out her phone and began going through it. “…Cuz I’m wondering why you’ve been smiling at nothing since we left my house.”

Trevor looked at her again with the smile still on his face. “…Because I’m happy.”

Lisa looked up at him and smiled. He caught her large blue eyes on him and his smile got wider. They both came close and kissed and then pulled back; Lisa went back to her phone and Trevor went back to driving.

They finally got to the school and Trevor coursed down to an empty parking space. As he slowed the car down, he smiled again when he realised Lance was going to be in school today, and he sure as hell could not wait to see him again.

Bruce and Megan

That same day, during English class, Bruce sat far behind in class. All the while, his attention was on Megan infront. He was completely oblivious to what Aaron was telling him, oblivious to what the English teacher was teaching and completely oblivious to whatever was happening in class. His eyes were fixed on Megan. He was completely focused on her. As he sat there watching her throwing occasional glances and snickering with Nadia, he felt his blood boil in his veins. When he had caught her with Caleb at in the store room at the party in France, he had asked her what she was telling him and she had said nothing. She lied to him….or did she? Anyhow, he was going to find out.

The bell suddenly rang through the whole class and on cue, everyone stood up from their seats and started to pack up their books, completely ignoring the English teacher who was wishing them good luck on the exams. Bruce slowly stood from his seat with his eyes still on Megan. He watched her pack her books into her bag just as he did his. He watched her moving towards the door with Lisa and Nadia beside her; her attention fixed to her phone.

“Bruce!” Aaron’s raised voice made Bruce turn to him quickly.

“What?” Bruce hissed.

“We’re going outside school to eat, right?” Aaron asked for obviously the second time.

Bruce said nothing. He turned his attention back to the class entrance. He saw Megan and the girls walk out the door before he hung his bag over his shoulder. “Sure, whatever,” he hissed with his eyes still on Megan. “…But I need to talk to Megan first.” With that, Bruce hurried away and left Aaron behind.

The girls made their way out of the class and into the hallway before they stopped at their respective lockers to put their books in them.

“Oh God,” Nadia slammed her locker door and sighed. “Exams haven’t even started and I’m feeling sick already.”

“I know right,” Lisa said as she looked at her face in a mirror on the door of her locker; smoothing her hair. “But look on the bright side….” She turned to Nadia with a smile. “…We just had our last High school English class.”

“Yeah,” Nadia nodded in agreement with a smile. “I can’t believe we’re graduating in in three weeks’ time.”

Lisa slammed her locker shot. “It’s unreal.” She then turned and look at Megan who had her attention on her phone. She knew Megan had been acting strange lately, but she was still a little surprised that she wasn’t contributing anything to this conversation. It was almost as if she didn’t care about graduating.

“Megan,” Lisa uttered.

Megan looked up with raised brows. “Yeah?”

“You excited about graduation, girl?” Nadia took the words right out of Lisa’s mouth.

“Uhm-,” she paused and thought for a while before a fake smile appeared on her face. “Yeah, sure I am.”

Lisa and Nadia glanced at each other with skeptism. Lisa then came close to Megan and put her hand on her shoulder. “Hey.”

Megan looked up at her.

“Are you okay?” Lisa’s voice was laced with concern.

Megan assured them that she was fine.

“You know you can tell us anything, right?” Nadia rubbed Megan’s back, but Megan kept assuring them that she was okay.

“Ladies!” Aaron yelled from across the hall. The girls spun and saw Bruce and Aaron walking over. Megan felt a bit apprehensive when she noticed Bruce’s eyes on her. It was as if she was the only thing he could see.

“You girls ready?” Aaron asked as he stopped next to Nadia and threw his hands over her shoulder.

“We’re we going today,” Nadia asked. “Please tell it’s not Pizza hut.”

Aaron chuckled. “Actually,” he said. “It is.”

“Oh God,” Nadia rolled her eyes away from her boyfriend and groaned.

“Hey,” Lisa said. “Has anyone seen Trevor?”

“Don’t know..,” Aaron shrugged. “But I know he was in school this morning cuz I saw him.”

“Wonder why he wasn’t In English class today though,” Nadia said.

“Yeah, yeah…,” Aaron muttered as he began to usher them down the hall. “Now can we get going please? Break will soon be over and I’m so hungry.”

“Sure,” Lisa sighed and spun away.

Megan was about to move, but then she paused when someone grabbed her arm. She spun and saw Bruce move his eyes from her to the others.

“You guys can go ahead,” Bruce said. “We’ll meet you guys there.”

Aaron and the others shrugged. “Okay.” And they walked away.

Then, Bruce started to match down the hall, pulling Megan with him. Megan took one look at him and realised something was wrong.

“Bruce,” she uttered. “Wha-what’s wrong?”

Bruce said nothing. He kept pulling her until they came infront of the male rest-room. Bruce headed straight for it and pushed the door open.

“Bru-Bruce,” Megan stuttered. “ This is the-.”

“Shut up,” he spat as he pushed her in and shut the door behind him.

Megan stood there in confusion. She honestly didn’t know what was going on. Her nervous eyes darted from one part of the toilet to the other. She watched Bruce hit the doors of the toilet cubicles to make sure there was no one else in the rest room. He was making sure there was no one else there with them and that made Megan a bit uncomfortable.

“Bruce,” she uttered. “What’s going on? What are you doing?”

Bruce turned to her with his eyes blazing. Megan was sure now that he was pissed about something…but what ?

He looked to the floor, took a deep breath and exhaled. He was trying to calm himself. He then looked up to her with a blank expression. He didn’t look angry anymore. “What did you tell Caleb on the night of the send-off party in Paris?”

Megan felt her heart stop for two seconds. The entire rest-room suddenly became hot. She was surprised he was asking her again after he had asked her at the send-off and she had told him it was nothing. Had he found out something?
Megan was going to take her chances. She was scared, but she was going to. “Babe,” she faked a sigh. “Are we seriously doing this again? I told you already. I didn’t tell him anything.”

Bruce kept his gaze on her for ten seconds with intense eyes that were beginning to make her uncomfortable. He then looked to the floor and moved close to her. He raised his cold eyes to his girlfriend one more time, boring into her soul.

“Megan, I’m going to ask you again,” There was something in his voice that made her skin crawl. She had never heard this tone from him before. “Did you tell Caleb anything about the plan or not.”

Megan swallowed and kept her cool. She was nervous, but she wasn’t going to let him know that. “Jesus Christ, Bruce,” she lied. “How many times do I have to tell you? I didn’t tell him anything for Godsake.”

Bruce closed his eyes and inhaled.

“Don’t you trust me anymore?” Megan moved close to him.

He opened his eyes again and sighed as he dropped his shoulders. He slowly stretched one arm towards her to pull her in for a hug. “You’re right,” Bruce uttered . “Maybe I’m being paranoid. Come here.”

Megan stared at him for a while, before she reluctantly moved into his embrace and felt his arm wrap around her.

“I’m sorry baby,” Bruce whispered in her ear. “I trust you.”

Megan exhaled on his shoulder. In her head, she heaved a sigh of relief. That was close.

Then suddenly, Megan screamed when white hot pain tore through her scalp as Bruce yanked down at her hair so hard, forcing her head to fall backwards and her eyes to meet his. Megan locked eyes with Bruce and saw that the person looking at her was an entirely different person; a complete stranger.

"Aaaah!" Megan yelled. "Bruce! What are you-!"

“But at the same time...,” Bruce growled in rage. “I’m not a fvcking fool to be lied to, Megan!”

With the pain tearing through her head and her heart pounding very fast, Megan started sobbing. The situation and changed now. She was no longer in control and so she started to beg. “Bru-Bruce..Pl..please!”

Completely ignoring her pleas, Bruce moved forward with lightning speed and slammed Megan’s head on the ceramic tiles on the wall of the male rest-room, shattering four tiles to pieces and watching a profusely bleeding an disoriented Megan drop to the floor afterwards.
