greenhulk: the answer can be yes/no why here in UK there are certain town whereby Nigerian/Cameron have established themselves as engine buyers at the scrapyard so the scrapyard would prefer to sell an engine as unit than to let it sit and being ripped for parts slow overtime and it would also affect the price of the engines so am saying in general it can affect prices based on search of the sellers based on town or city |

Why is it that ussed RH drive cars are a lot cheaper than the LH drive cars? If you think volume and market spread it is the same thing we were talking about. Engines to a 13 years old Corolla or Camry use to be dirt cheap because you have to be insane to pay for a used engine in those old cars, but with our people buying those used engines price has gone unreasonably high. 1 Like |

Nairaland is one hell of a place to catch fun when less busy. Crazy comments here. I personally do not like Toyota cos I see them as boring dry cars with nothing to gush over. It's not fun to drive, not appealing to the eyes, miles behind other car manufacturers when it comes to standard equipments and accessories, but it's a must backup car for every home (my thought though) |

weyreypey: Lol. I wouldn't doubt that sef I used to be a fan of the Corolla.. I don't know why they have so much of that cars in the US though, but those cars are expensive for nothing. It's just like buying a loaf of Agege bread for #500.....very boring to chew I've also noticed (my own observation oh) that most people that eulogize corollas are people that have not driven other year models of other cars... That was exactly how I was before 1 Like |

The military really dealt with Nigeria. Apparently, car ownership used to be a big deal in Nigeria. The coming of democracy came with improved finances for most families and coincided with the Toyota boom. Obviously, most of the people here missed out on d days of Peugeot 504,505,Volvo 240,flat booth and V booth Mercedes,Mercedes Concord, Volkswagen passat and beetle etc. I don't think anybody who though owns a Toyota now but drove his parents flat booth or 504/505 will tell you Toyota is the greatest after Allah Then we haven't come to newer model European cars which make driving look like eating pounded yam with okro soup. Might own a Corolla one day but it will be purely an economic or location based decision, not that it's no longer a flying carpet |

Sometimes when I read some comments I laugh. That's how two of my close paddies and an old family acquaintance at different times got into this same German car frenzy talk against the Japanese cars especially the Toyota to be precise. But guess what they all own Corollas with one an Avalon as an addition. I got tired of driving to meet them at car break down spots mostly on the highway. No one told them to buy a Toyota. They didn't even tell me initially cos I would have stroked them silly respectively. If you'd care to know I've also previously owned an Audi 80 and currently still own a BMW X3. But I'm more at ease and comfortable travelling with my Corolla or Camry from experience as I know nothing will happen.. Now those friends of mine travel with their Corolla's and Avalon respectively. One other chairman owns a 2011 LR4, 2013 Benz GL450 and a 2013 Lexus LX570 in his fleet, but he travels with his Lexus all the time because of what he said the other cars have done to him at different times saying those SUVs keep giving one issue or the other. He says he'll soon upgrade to the 2019 Lexus LX570 soon too. As for me I learnt from my Audi and still learning from my BMW X3. Nice cars but need special attention and treatment. My Corolla and Camry don't need any pampering they respond anytime any day.. 2 Likes |

OfficialSam, Obekediamondfuto, greenhulk and co really understand what's at stake, and again guess what my BMW mecho drives a 3-series and a Nissan Sentra.. Also most owners of these luxury vehicles own either a Toyota or Honda product in their fleet to avoid stories that touch. I'm sure most of the herd here bashing the japs actually drive them in real life. I remember wetin Benz do sombori here for PH wey him spend cash tire, and just like someone said no be everybody wey dress fine really get pepper. Compare prices of same mileage, features and technology spec. of Lexus against Benz or BMW or Audi and it would surprise you how much it would cost you to order the Lexus.. Anyway buy your heart and enjoy life but ensure you have what it takes to handle what follows afterwards, cos when the frustration sets in nobody will come online to say so. Finally one thing the Americans and Europeans are usually known for is patronizing local productions, even if they know it's not the better car. They would still buy Chevy's, Ford's, Audi's, VW's etc to ensure they grow their own auto industry and boost their economy.. cheers mates 1 Like |
