Under General Aguiyi Ironsi, Nigeria maintained a regional system and a 70% resource control until he died.

Yakubu Gowon ended resource control n regional government in Nigeria.

Stop spreading fake news, Ironsi unified the civil service n the military, police n paramilitary only.
It was Aguiyi Orisi that provided a frame work for federalism in Nigeria.

I often make a statement which he (Buhari) has not refuted yet that: Can Buhari claim to be northerner than the Sarduana (Sir Ahmadu Bello, first republic premier of Northern Region)?

That is the Constitution that Sarduana, Azikiwe and Awolowo agreed to; let us go back to it. Should that be a problem if he (Buhari) has no hidden agenda?

Which is what he (Buhari) is doing now; and I have been saying it that he (Buhari) will not restructure because once he restructures, the question of Islamisation will not be possible, the question of domination will not be possible, the question of excluding the East will not be possible because all these things are settled.

This is an eye opener.

No need to read this long write up. From the history of Nigeria betrayal and sabotour is a known trait amongst south western Nigeria. Yorubas betrayed awolowo, yorubas betrayed abiola and the list goes on and on.
And did igbos not betrayed the traitor ojukwu?

To prove to everyone that this man is lying against Ojukwu. What did Ojukwu and Gowon discussed in Aburi Ghana and was witnessed by the OAU?
What was the AGREEMENT in Aburi Ghana?
Why was the Easterners insisting on Aburi they stand?

Awolowo might be a hero to Yorubas because he put the interest of his people ahead of personal interest but he is a villain to Igbos till forever. I don't know about who's saying the truth or not but a samlle of opininion from elderly Igbo men about Awolowo will leave you imagining who could be more cunning, treacherous and wicked.

Of course we know.
Ojukwu agreed with Awolowo to pursue negotiation for federalism.
But before Awo could reach his base, Ojukwu had declared war on Nigeria.
Ojukwu's calculation is that the Nigerian government would assume that
Awo was in on the deal and would concentrate the military on the west.

If Ojukwu's calculations were correct, the FG would have declared war on the west first
on the wrong pretext that Awolowo's had declared war by aligning with Ojukwu. Thus, paving
a smooth path for secession since the government would be too busy fighting in the west to even
bother retaking the east.

Unfortunately for Ojukwu, his gambit failed and Gowon refused to declare war on the west even though
most of his advisers pressured him to do so.

This is not logical.
You cannot go into war on assumptions.
Gowon can only say that Ojukwu and Awolowo planned to pull out of Nigeria if nd only if Awolowo was supporting Biafra in secret or in public.
Well, I wasn't there when it happened, but your submission is not logical

Insightful interview.

However, Pa Ayo needs to realize that the decision to go to war was beyond Ojukwu.

Igbos were being killed in thousands in the north, the last straw being the trailer of dead bodies that was sent to Enugu through Benue.

Igbos had no other option than to fight back cos even the Army and Police supposed to protect them were enabling the progrom.

Till date nobody has paid for those blood curling crimes.

Let us face the truth for once!

Facts C. Achebe kept hammering on.

What happened at kaduna in 2011 is still fresh in my mind.

"Intention" is the key word here

He only couldn't implement it because he spent few months at the helm before he was assassinated in the coup.

A change in system of government requires a lot of time and effort.
