Round 2 goes to IBIME. He really did improve with the punches and the wordplay. . .still keeping the humour and the multis intact. Wetin dis guy dey smoke sef??

DBR's verse almost looked the same as in Round one. If not weaker. I might have noticed a repetition or some genericity. His punches were still as dark as they were in the first round and he improved on Multis. But Ibime came harder this time.

These were some great lines from DBR.

Except the Napoleon part, which i'd want him to explain.

And the Range Rovers line which one or both of them has already used previously, either in the FFR spar or in the first battle. I'ma quote it soon though if i can find it.

IMO. . .this Range Rovers wordplay has already been used, and DBR repeating it ''in the same battle'' doesn't look too good.

Yepa!! Ibime owned this round. He got creative with his punches and made it fiercer too. Of course over-multies was on check too.
DBR got weaker. This verse is not half as brash as the first one. There's a significant and not much quotable lines
Anyways, still a fukking good battle tho.

Aight now to the body of the matter. Just the points i considered to arrive at my vote. A lot to critique in both verses. But i'll leave that till when the debates start flying. Just voting on the 'positives'.

1. Personally its a strong point for me that a battle verse spare some lines for the issue at hand. Again both have done that. However in this instance Ibime gave it harder.

2. This time around DBR mixes his word play with multies providing some pretty hard punches but distorts his flow. Ibime sticks with the multies, laces it with a few word play, ok killer word play, shortens the build up and punches away.

3. So I decided to get empirical with the punches. and tbh DBR had more punches in his verse than Ibime. However you have to note with the format of Ibime's verse punches will come after 2 lines (see good to note he's taking correction *takes cover*  ). So as i said DBR packed more punches, no seriously, I counted, he did only that Ibime packed some knock out punches.

In the end, all considered, my vote is straight forward : IBIME

Now this has been a real classic battle. lasting multuiple rounds (im counting from the 'badly hidden subliminal). Thank you all for coming to the show. Abi shall we campaign for round 3, like baba Iyabo?

DBR : Wordplay superb , Loads of mad backside metaphors, a couple of punchlines here and there, rhyme structure improved although still weird in some places,
Would have had an edge if his flow wasn't all over the place( you can start shouting at me again if you like) and his build ups were better. I have to say, DBR has a most creative mind and some of the most intelligent thought up wordplays, However, his build up, to them could be better. Also I was expecting DBR to come with some personals after the little row amongst me Ibime himself on the last thread.

An example of where he coulda built up more efficiently. . . .

Ibime was at it again. mad wordplay, direct punches and personals this time which Ibime rarely uses to tell you how much he wanted t rip DBR apart, and also one of the best wordplays ever seen on Nairaland (we all know it : magnum cumlaude), I woulda wanted to see more of this, but the intro and outro took some lines away, and of course they were'nt as gud as the main body: Lemme just point out BAD IDEA IBIME, If you were battling me, I woulda made you regret them wasted lines. . . . . hah!!!!( you self you know).

I do not give a bleep if this battle was inconvenient for anyone, once you decide to battle, you should be ready to give your best, or just don't turn up at all. . .

Thing is . . . the only thing I can do to make it transparent enough is post the scores as soon as they drop.
It makes it easier for everyone including myself to keep track of everything as it happens.

What the announcement does is to declare a winner so that analysis can come in from everyone else and gives DBR and Ibime a chance to make comments without swaying votes.

I think the reason DBR came considerably weaker than his FFR posts is the fact that he let Ibime take the battle to his comfort zone.
It's a tactical thing . . . Ibime brought up multies, what DBR shoulda said was 'my wordplay is unrivalled'.
The easiest way to beat Tiger Woods is to play him at any game outside of golf.

That said Ibime was just better at everything though, that Magna Cum Laude line was a 'I do the punchlines thing but I does this wordplay ish better than you'.

And for goodness' sake, DBR is too much of a nice guy, how can you acknowledge the fact that Ibime is critically acclaimed in a rap battle.
He was saying 'u engrain greatness', 'he's critically-acclaimed . . but im closing the-range' . . . when Ibime was saying 'if he say my name in vain, theres no pardon for him/ cos Ill shoot Cannons at this Primate. . . for his Cardinal sin!/'??

This is Ibime on form, the only person I see touching him right now is HJ.

I actually think DBR had some good bars in his verse but you just have to 'put your hands up' when your opponent comes harder.
DBR is one of the most creative dudes on here . . . no doubt but Ibime was just stronger and played to his strengths.

I think Ibime's versatility won him the battle.

Aiight, DBR's verse was again graphic with 'em vile and vicious pictures . . . his first 6 lines - very 'horror[/i]ful', reminded me of "Saw V" . . . he somewhat continues in the next 8 lines . . . though the tempo wasn't maintained like it started.

Loads of wordplay as usual . . . wits too - "Table her Content" got me laughing hard . . .

Ibime's was wits all the way . . . as already noted, the "magnum cumlaude" line was really impressive . . . the opener came with heat and the wit was maintained all the way . . . nice wordplay and rhymes intact . . . plus a wonderful closer to wrap it up.

After both rounds, it seems to me that whilst DBR's strength lies in being "vile n vicious/dark n deep", Ibime's is in "wit n humor/rhythm n rhyme" . . . and judging from both verses in this round, DBR's only weakness was that he didn't maintain that strength/tempo all the way, Ibime however maintained his from beginning till end.

So, Ibime wins this . . . though I feel DBR's short time didn't help him . . .

Ibime fit use mouth kill pesin sha! Dbr is really very creative, piss-tool, murder in law!! both emcees had a wee bit generic lines tho, but each came correct. . No doubt, Dbr had greater quantity of wordplays. . But the nice structure of ibime's gave his better quality, and his consistent multies just did it 4 me. . Big ups to both emcees, but ibime took this.

Nice sparring. Its been epic right from the warning shots. I thought your 2nd verse contained as much, if not more wordplays than the first one. I concur with Streetwize when he says your punches could be really much more monstrous if you build em up properly, rather than spitting a punch every line with no build up.
